I had the opportunity to buy a used Dali Tarot for $50 USD, and I didn't take advantage of it.
I'm beginning to think I made a big mistake by not buying the deck.
Who has this deck?
Was I a complete idiot for not buying this deck?
Should I have sold a kidney to get it?
Signed,

Hi divinerguy,
I only got the poker Dali cards but I will get the Salvador Dalí deck one day as it is a must-have for collectors. If I had had the chance to get a used one for 50 bucks, I think I could not have renounced on buying it.

Defiantely should of got it, cheapest youl find it elsewhere is 75, and thats hard to find, usually goes from 100 to 125, at very least you could of sold it or traded for quite a few decks you did want.

Regrettably, the deck has been sold. The banging sound you're hearing is my head pounding on my desk.

someone - a friend of mine who knows all about my collection - wanted to give me her dali tarot. but i couldn't accept it. i told her just how much it was worth and that she should hang on to it and that even though i wanted one - i couldn't take her copy without informing her just what a treasure it was. so she kept it and i am glad - if i had said nothing and she would have sent it i would have felt awfully bad about it.
and i don't even like dali much.

divinerguy, if it makes you feel any better, i wouldn't have bought it either. i don't find it attractive and i prefer to keep only decks i find attractive in my collection. i find it difficult to keep or buy a deck i don't like not matter the trade or other value. money comes too dear to me to splurge like that. now decks i really find aesthetically attractive-that's a horse of a different color!
here's an ice pack for your head...needs some aspirin for the headache? ;)

I am with Truthsayer on this one. I love collecting decks, but decks I really like. Now if you really like the deck, then you made a mistake ... if you don't really like it or you do not know how you feel about it, then I think you did the right thing. Nothing like spending a lot of money on a deck you are dissapointed in ~sighs~. I did that once. Never again. The only way I would take the Dali is if it were given to me ... and then I would probably trade it.
Chin up Divner guy!

I agree with Jewel and Truthsayer. I would never spend that much money for a deck, although I did for the Blue Rose Tarot, and that was after I thought about it for several months and finally decided it was something I could really use.
Jewel, now I'm curious ... what was the deck you spent a lot of money on and were disappointed in?
-- yours nosily,
Lee

Oh now Lee! you know I will share with you, you are not being nosy *LOL*. Well I actually did not spend THAT much on it, it was the Tarot of Wicca ($45). I was able to trade it for two decks that I like much better, but still I was dissapointed. I guess I just had really high expectations of the deck. I have, however, been toying with the thought of buing the Amber Tarot for over a year now .... I'm a mess ... someone should really hide my credit cards and computer from me before I end up a bag lady *LOL* ... granted, I would be a bag lady with lots of cool tarot decks *ROFLMAO*

Hi Jewel,
Glad you like the 2 decks you traded with me. I prefer the Wicca tarot to my Witches tarot although they are pretty different from the art style I usually prefer but they do read for me and that is what counts!
B/W thanks for the trade!

Divinerguy: I don't have the deck but it is on my wish-list. My cousin sells New Age stuff, including tarot decks and has this deck advertised on his website for around $75 I think.
His website is jksalescompany.com and his name is Kenneth. He ships everywhere.
Hope this helps!
Blessings, M.

My pleasure. I am glad you like the Tarot of Wicca. It needed a home where it would be appreciated. I prefer my Witches Tarot to the Wicca Tarot, which was one of the reasons I traded it. Like I said, I think I had really high expectations of the deck and when they were not met dissapointment got the best of me. That and the unhappy looks on everyones faces in the deck. Thank you for the trade as well, I was more than pleased with it.

Oh God . . . (banging head on the table) . . . $75 for a Tarot deck.
Correction, for yet another Tarot deck.
How am I going to explain this to my wife?

I haven't spent that much on a deck.... yet ;), but I definitely see your dilemma...
You can always make it up to her }) if you do purchase it.

...you buy the poker deck.
...you buy one or two copies Christina Oleson's Art of the Tarot gift book for $9-13.00 depending on if it's used or not, tear out the Dali leaves and then scan the other sides to get the majors.
...after spending numerous hours trying to scan, resize, crop and then paste all results on to a card stock, look up with a gleam in one's eye..."I think I can gild the edges, " he says, "and it would only cost..."
By this time, someone would guess the person REALLY wants the deck.
The best option I found first is to buy Rachel Pollack's book on the Universal Dali through Abebooks.com. Then maybe decide whether the majors and minors work for you.
I like the cards better than a lot of his other art. Because I like fine art collages and finding historical art.
After a year with the book, I bought a very good copy of the cards that was only missing the outer box. The cards and condition were excellent. I has better luck reading with the deck because I liked Rachel Pollack's book.
