3 new decks for me this week...

I will remember it as one of the worst weeks EVER... a bad bad Mercury playng tricks on me, bad news, bad things going on... bleah...
But I have a faith. We have a faith.
And that faith saves us all.
Tarot saved me this week! *LOL*

I got three new decks, of which none has ben paied yet *LOL*

ROCK & ROLL TAROT
The second Rare/OOP deck of my collection, shortly following the Shakesperian (the last addition). The story behind it is peculiar, and some of you know... I don't know if I can share it with the whole Forums. *LOL*
The deck is WOW!!!! GREAT!!! I loved it at once. The cards are actually pretty small, like Shakesperian's, but I don't mind it, since I will keep them for collecting. The Extra cards are cool, and the possibility to choose is interesting - but I preferred to keep the old ones in the deck, and the extra ones (that I liked better) spread on a cloth, to look at them in awe *LOL* (Tori and the Knight of Cups - I forgot who he is :P - are great!). The concept of the deck is original, and it is put into the real world handsomely. I found only some quotations I could not relate to the card meaning - but that is probably due to my musical ignorance. Some of them are awesome, like R.E.M./The Fool, for example, or The Magician/Frank Zappa, with quotes that are just so appropriate!!!
The artwork is very well done, every card with a different layout or font... WOW!!! Gotta love it! :D
What else to say? MH... If I find the first edition, woth the way-bigger cards, I'll definitely grab it - even though Ebay is making it nearly impossible...
Great deck, greeat artwork, great concept, great work behind it... Lots of Tarotical knowledge too... I am sure it is also readable, but that simply is not my priority. :)

GODDESS TAROT
OOOOOOOHHHHHH!!!! I finally have a copy! After hearing people ramble about it, I am able to say something too. I wanted the deck soon after seeing it online on www.tarot.com and chatting with Rhiannon (:*) - and Jema (:*) - for the soft images and the idea of having goddesses for each major. And Tara was The Fool, I HAD TO HAVE IT! :D
The deck is calm and soothing, delightful pictures, soft tunes... Visually appealing. I actually was not aware of those HUGE borders (a couple at least) framing the actual picture, but it is ok, even though they could have done something about it since... The Cards are HUGE!!!!!! I have no idea how Rhiannon uses it! *LOL* I hope I will also find the book, to learn some more about the goddesses, even though what I know is enough for divination right now.
The minors are ok, even though maybe there are too many women, and no man almost. And the Courts confuse me... I sense as if the author switched them... Gotta ask to my Goddess-Experts fellows.
And another thing: she is always saying "HER" or using feminine in the LWB, that is irritating!!! *LOL* Maybe I am the first man to have a Goddess Tarot Deck...
Anyway, it is so cute! I love it! :D Probably it won't be the most readable or my main reading deck, but it is a nice variation on the theme, and a refined deck for more... dignified situations. ;) :P

Last but not the least...
SPIRAL
A break-trough. I got it beacuse of the same chat session of Goddess (but Jema's fault now LOL).
This deck is AWESOME. After the Gill crisis, I must definitely work for the Spiral, even though it is a much more popular deck than Gill. I know Jema, my light sister of decks-stampede, will be by my side as she was for the Gill praise... ;)
The artwork is stunnig. Full of details, and so much gold inside. And all the details... WOW!!! A GREAT deck, I think the best R-W based and most suitable for beginners. I don't know what I should talk about first...
The cards are smaller than I though, but they are the right size anyway. The back is simple, and I happen to have a blue velvet scrap of almost the same tune... I will sew the card back on the face of the bag *he pictures a marvellous bag*.
The Majors are AMAZING! I love the mythic references in each of them, and the richness in symbolism and detail is... unique in its simplicity. Yet the cards are not stuffed or choke-full - but plain and readable. In each card there's a Tree of life with the path highlighted, and astrological and kabbalistic relations (both of hich I love on cards, and I finally have a deck with them!).
The minors have a plainer style than the Majors, but I don't mind it. So far they are the most readable and appealing minors I have seen (despite some artistic flaws or simplicism), and there often are some cute details adding up (I did not notice at first the 2 of Swords' girl was on a hanging rope... Dumb me! *LOL*).
The COurts are wonderful, really wonderful. The style is once again different, both from majors and 1-10, but they are FANTASTIC!!! The Swords ones especially, The Queen is awesome.
Maybe the "purpleness" of it might seem disturbing onlne, but personalyl I didn't notice it, and it still is not a problem at all... Maybe because I am too fond of purple... :P *LOL*
I really think this will become my main reading deck for a while. I just wish i could get the book if it exists.

I don't know what else to write. I got the deck three days ago, and I only posted today - my head is void, and probably i left out something important I wanted to say... Nevermind.

:)

Hey Pollux, I have the Goddess Tarot! I really like the artwork, I find it very pleasing. Unfortunately I haven't worked with it much -- my Goddess education has been seriously deficient. Also, I enjoy seeing men in my decks and miss them when they're not there.

The R.E.M./Fool card was the reason I had to have this deck!! ;) I also like the Rolling Stones/Devil card.

Your going to need somewhere new to store all these decks soon Pollux! And you still haven't got a deck that was influenced by me... (Consider the World Spirit of *Cosmic Tribe* :D:D:D)

I think I need the Spiral Tarot, I have picked it up with the intention of buying it a few times but... I don't know.

Enjoy your new decks!!!

Well, World Spirit is soon to enter my chambers... :|
As for *Cosmic Tribe*, I wanted to get it from an Asutralian friend, he is so fond of it... but everytime I hint at that, he does not get it...
(HEY? Who whispered "weasel" in the room? Shut up!)

Good, 2 men so far.
They say great minds...

In truth I am not that sure you need an extensive Goddess Education... And The Net is a great source: you could find more than you need. (Obviously only if you have free time...;))

napaea  01 Sep 2002

catlin  03 Sep 2002
Ohh, Pollux, guess what?!

I am still expecting my Goddess deck (hurry up Liliana, hope you manage it to sent me this deck!), the Spiral rests in my book case (did not click with me) and R & R, hmm I am still not convinced to get this one.

Anyway I am glad to hear that you love all these decks so much, so congrats to you!

Lee I am with you here on all accounts. I have the book for the deck, but the lack of male figures in the deck has resulted in it being placed on the back burner in terms of attention (particularly at the rate I acquire decks *LOL*). I have actually put this deck/book up for trade a couple of times and no one went for it ... so I guess I will actually sit down, read the book, and see how I feel about it and whether I will put it back up for trade or sale. But it will be a while.
