A local bookstore has the Glastonbury deck set for $9.99 and I keep looking at it and keep looking at it, but can't decide whether to buy it or not. I'm really hesitant about the artwork.
Anyone have this deck and can give me some input? $9.99 is a great price I know, but I don't want anymore decks that turn out to be duds when you open the package.

MM, I'm pretty sure Kiama has this deck and really likes it. In fact, I recall a thread about thsi deck a few months ago. I'll see if I can find it again for you & bump it up.
My local store doesn't have this deck, and to get it brought up would cost me over $40 Cdn! So heck, if you remain uncertain, can you get it for me?

I was hesitant about the artwork as well, but I got it anyway ;). And I absolutely love it! Yes, the artwork isn't very good, but it's the symbolism I like about the deck. There's a really good book that comes with it that explains all the symbolism and once you know about the symbolism, you start seeing the artwork in a whole different light.
Well, that was my experience anyway... ;)

this is true. the colors are so bright, happy and w/ clear ungrayed colors. it's a cheerful deck but it can get serious, too. the book is wonderful. if you want to see bad art then get rachel pollack's shining tribe deck. art in this deck is far better. i love the symbolism. i feel like i must make a pilgramige one day to glastonbury b/c of this deck. I LOVE THIS DECK. :) do you like the legends of king author or celtic decks or stories? if so you'll probably like it.
do i have to twist your arm for $10? i mean if you don't like it i'm certain someone here would be happy to trade w/ you for it. anybody want to volunteer to trade for it now? ;)

Well, I have nothing but praise about this deck.
You are not the only one to be put off by the artwork: I was too, cuz it does seem very base, sometimes simple, and far too bold, but I foud when I actually had the deckin my hands it didn't matter to me.
Anything I say here I will have sai before, so for a more detailed opionion on this deck, you could take a peek at the review I wrote for it:

Enjoy!

Well, I did go over to get the Glastonbury Deck today- I figured everyone was right & I couldn't go wrong at $9.99.
Right when I picked up the box to go pay for it, I looked down & right next to the Glastonbury, this bookstore had a display of the Baseball Tarot at **$2.99**!!! So of course, I got this deck, too!! I keep wondering if someone has put the wrong price on these decks.
I know that the Baseball Tarot deck set sells for $20.00 because I saw it recently at B&N for that amount. I wish I'd had enough money, I would have bought several of these decks (both Glastonbury & Baseball) and shipped them out to folks here at AT. I can't do that , but if anyone is interested, the bookstore is Davis Kidd bookstore on Perkins Rd. Extended in Memphis. You can pm for the phone number, if you want. They have a website, too. Maybe you could order these decks at these prices & they would ship, I don't know. But it may be worth a try if you want these decks. There was about 6 Baseball Tarot & 5 or 6 Glastonbury left, I believe.

I wanted to add this too: I'm happy to say that my first impressions of these decks are positive!
Glastonbury is better in the hand than on computer images. It is a cheerful deck. I like the coloring and the people on the cards don't bother as much as I was afraid they would. The book looks really interesting, too.
The Baseball is actually better than I thought it would be, too- excepting perhaps that I'm seeing a change in the numbering. But I will have to read the book first & see how it works out before I pass final judgment. But the artwork is very warm and I like it. Being an ex-Atlanta Georgia resident & still a fan of the Braves, Baseball is already on a metaphysical plane for me & this deck looks like it tunes right into the 'higher' aspects of the game.
My only complaint so far is that the cards of both these decks *stick together* and that is a major no-no for me. But I'm hoping that will pass as I work with the cards.

the cards will losen up as you use them. i bought the baseball tarot and tarot of baseball for my husband at ridiculously cheap prices. it started as a joke b/c i wanted him to understand my passion for tarot. i knew he loves baseball. (he's a big atlanta braves fan, too) so i thought he might like the deck. the joke was on me b/c he actually loves those decks! he amazed me of how well he was able to read the cards just knowing about baseball.
I was talking one day about how much i love to trade decks. he snapped,"you haven't traded my decks have you!!?" i laughed at him and told him, of course not--i bought those decks for him. at least i found one way for us to unite our diverse interest! i'll make a tarot-holic outta this man yet! ;) both decks appear to be well-thought out down to the accompanying book.
i'm so glad you listened to us and gave glastonbury a try. it's an unusual deck but one of my favorites b/c it has this sunny disposition. i can do a reading on something distressing and feel like things will work out. i think it's all the primary colors used-yellows, reds and blues. there's some secondary colors like the greens but the colors still look crisp and clean.

Here's a previous thread about this.
Glad you like the Glastonbury, have fun with it! :)

I tried the Davis Kidd website, but they're selling it for $29.99 :(.
So I clicked on Aeclectic's link to this deck and wandered on over to Amazon... my mouse wandered over to the the "Buy Now With 1-Click" button... you know the rest.
I am addicted.

Not wrong, a'tall. Sorry that the Davis Kidd website didn't work out, but thanks Luned for the link.
I know about those itchy fingers over at Amazon...right now the Halloween Tarot deck is calling me. It's been on my wishlist for a while and is starting to get restless there & wants to come to my house to live. :)
**had to come back & say thanks for the powder idea.
