I got it!!!!!!!!! Unicorn Deck Ahhhhh..

I finally got the Unicorn deck today (on my birthday of all days). I'd ordered it ages ago but it was out of stock so had the book first and got deck about 3 weeks later (not good for an impatient Leo!!) Anyway, it's as lovely as I imagined it to be, I've only done a 3 card 'whats my day going to be like today' spread so far as i need to be with the deck for a while before attempting a more complicated spread.

Incidentally, there is a thread about reversals with a poll at the mo, and I'd like to know: If the book you get with the deck says reversals but you'd really rather not, is that ok? Am starting to come to the opinion that reversals are not for me, as I find them far too difficult to read up-side-down. They don't 'look right'

Also, does anyone know of a website that sells 'smaller' as in card size decks? I find my H/R very easy to use, but the Unicorn, Dragon and other decks are a bit too big for my hands, and the cards 'fly' out all over the place????????

Oooh! YAY!

And a happy blessed birthday to you! :)

If the book I get (with the deck) uses reversals (and I'd rather not), I don't. I don't feel I have to follow what's written in a book. I do use them for guidance. However, I only apply what works best for me and whatever makes me most comfortable. :)

Happy Birthday, LeoLady!!! Hope you enjoy it. And how wonderful that your deck arrived just in time. :) I love when things work out that way.

As for using reversals, that's your personal choice. If they make you uncomfortable, then by all means, don't do them. If you try to force something on yourself, you might not be as comfortable reading. That's no way to work. Get comfortable with the upright meanings and with using your intuition. Books are great for when you're stuck on a meaning or need a little extra, but your intuition is the most important part of the reading.

Once your comfortable with using your intuition and the upright meanings, you might want to consider the reversals issue again. For that, I highly recommend reading Mary Greer's The Complete Book of Tarot Reversals. Just keep in mind that plenty of advanced tarot readers do not read reversed cards.

Enjoy your birthday and your new deck!

happy birthday leo lady:)
and congratulations on getting the deck you wanted.
as for reversals, i think it is all up to you as the reader. i have been reading for many years and prefer another system altogether so it is all up to the individual.

any card can have a myriad of meanings and if one feels these meanings are easier to sort through by useing reversals that is all good but to use reversals and not really feel comfortable with it is just not needed. better to do like you always done:)

now i have to go and look up the unicorn tarot at my fav places on the net!

Happy birthday LeoLady!!

I can only agree with what others have said about using reversals: whatever works for you... ;)

As for small decks: maybe you'll find something in this thread.

And enjoy your Unicorn Deck! ;)

Happy Birthday, Leolady!!!

I was looking at the Unicorn deck on a site just yesterday and was enthralled by the beautiful artwork on the cards. I love unicorns too and if I could afford to buy another deck that is definitely the one I'd be getting.

I only got to see four of the cards and I am wondering how the more traditionally "scary" cards, such as Death, the Tower, and the Devil are portrayed. If you have time, could you describe some of the cards - or maybe tell me a site where they are all on display?

Enjoy your birthday and enjoy your unicorns. :)
