I'm not sure if I'm mad or disappointed!

Thread originally posted on the Aeclectic Tarot Forum on 23 Aug 2002, and now archived in the Forum Library.

Starfish  23 Aug 2002
I had placed a order via the Borders Stores site (where you can request it to be delivered to the Borders store of your choice for pickup) for the World Spirit deck set (thanks to my fellow Tarot Siren, Kes })) and have been waiting for it like it seems forever. Finally, I get a telephone call that it's in and I can go and pick it up (yesterday). I get there last evening all excited and.... . Someone put it out with the other decks instead of saving it behind the counter and it was purchased! Waaahhhh!!!

I came home and ordered some Tarot Totes (to make myself feel better dontcha know ;)) and ordered World Spirit through Tarot Totes too. I KNOW Betty won't let me down.

Thanks for listening to me vent...

Oh, Starfish, that's AWFUL!!! I hope you complained to them profusely. If not, then you should definitely use the website to complain about the online ordering problem (or the nitwit salesclerk problem). Grrr.

Well, hopefully you will love the deck even more for having to face adversity to get it. Still, you'd think a national chain like Borders would have these things a little better organized.

I did - and they offered me a 20% discount off of my next total order. But still.... :(

HMMM... You could have tried to demand 30% ... cackle, cackle :::evil:::: :-) At least 20% is something! :-)

Molly -

you're right! I should have! (pouting) Oh well, 20% off of a total order is pretty good. Especially since I can apply it towards books too.

Starfish, how completely and unutterably disappointing!! I don't blame you for being angry!!

Shall we start a letter campaign to Border's protesting their complete ineptitude and carelessness? Bet they'd never do THAT again. THOSE TURKEYS! Feel free to vent all you need to; and a stiff drink probably wouldn't hurt either!

In empathy,
Midnightmerry

On the other hand...it's only human to make a mistake...don't you ever make one ?
Well you're right to complain of course and I know it's annoying when you're waiting for something. A deck of mine once got lost in the mail, it was one of my first decks and I was really waiting for that one, but I did get my money back promptly which I thought was pretty decent. It would have been horrible if something like that happened to an oop deck *shudders just to think of that*

Wolf, you just reminded me of something. I would have had the same reaction Starfish had- terrible disappointment. And I think she is right to come here & vent because if she can't vent here among fellow collectors, where is she going to vent?

However, I would like to add this: my husband saw a news report recently about how some people in Africa are starving. The report showed these people going out to collect *bowls of dirt* for their food. Can you imagine??

So now, whenever my husband and I are feeling 'deprived' about something or upset because we didn't get something, he'll look at me or I'll look at him and say, "At least we aren't eating dirt." It does help us to keep things in perspective.

Supletion  24 Aug 2002
unfortunately, im not sure it was a mistake... having worked in a book store for two summers (not this one... i wouldnt come back to that place), i've seen that it doesnt really matter what goes to who as long as it goes away and money comes instead of it. i actually recall cases like this when i was there, including the phone call to pick the item up...
i hope you get your deck eventually :)

WolfSpirit  24 Aug 2002
I got a lot of patience with companies losing things etc. when I had to answer the phone in a company like that. Luckily I did not have to do that often; I think everyone should have to do that kind of work for once to experience how it is to get the blame for maybe stupid but not ill-meant mistakes by "someone" in the company. Many people start "oh you at x" as if you are personally responsible for everything in the company.
Now when I have to complain I still do of course but I don't get mad so quickly and I'm satisfied if they admit something went wrong and want to remedy it.

But being a taroholic myself, I know how it feels if a deck is not there... but I'm sure you'll get it no problem :D

WolfSpirit -

You are definitely right; in the grand scheme of things it's not a big deal but I have had it on order for a while now and have tried ever so hard to be patient... ;) (which being a Tarotholic, isn't easy). It was just a let down.

Darn, Supletion, I was trying to cheer Starfish up by getting all philosophical and stuff (just think, you aren't eating dirt) and then you post this. Now I'm darn tootin' mad for her again! lol

Starfish, have you considered Amazon? At least they'll deliver it directly to your house so no one else will 'accidentally' buy it.

Changing gears a little, I just wanted to say that as of Thursday night I too am a new initiate to the Tarot Totes website.

Ordered a couple of bags (okay so I ordered 4), but it was only under the intention of getting one for my tarot of the cloisters (a round deck).

I have heard such marvelous things about Tarot totes and the fabrics are delicious to look at. So once you get your World spirit and totes its should be like the holidays when the package arrives at your doorstep.

Violet -

I am LOVING your Avatar!! Too, too delicious ;)

Welcome to the wonders of Tarot Totes. They are excellent products, and the turnaround time is amazing.

As for when my order arrives (I will be getting free shipping since it totalled over $50 })), you are so right! It will feel just like a holiday!

So, which bags did you get?

Violet Gargoyle  24 Aug 2002
Lets see, I got the the Stick Figure one, the NightGlow one (Cant resist glow in the dark), Helius, and Stellar Kaliedascope for the round one.

Yeah, I like Celestial themes.....

Keslynn  24 Aug 2002
Tarot Totes is so great! I'm glad you finally discovered them, VG! But now you'll be hooked. ;) I guess Starfish and I should add Tarot (Totes) Sirens as well.

I don't seem to remember that particular quote from Confucius...
but of course there is so much he taught us that I suppose I must have just missed it.

catboxer  24 Aug 2002
I think the actual quote is:

"All things must pass. The honeybucket occurs. In this manner, fertilizer happens. No blame. Thus the wise revere the ashes of their ancestors.

The one I remember from Confucius is something to the effect of "No one really minds when their friend falls off a roof."
