I am ordering this deck from Lori and Jeanette at Tarot Garden and was wondering if anyone can tell me what the card back looks like (color scheme, etc.).

Well this one will be less expensive for me (I will be ordering the mid-sized illuminated so it will be more expensive than the stained glass tarot) ... and I had been doing so good! ...

I've been looking at this deck for awhile. It IS truly beautiful! I like to call it "Tarocco delle Vetrate" , because there is at least one other tarot called "stained glass tarot". I've only seen both online not in person but in my opinion this one is much more beautiful.

I know, I know...I need to do a "new deck" spread Starfish. I have a couple of other decks that I'm reading with now. I want to pay this deck the special attention it deserves. ;)
Maybe the cards will tell me that I need to go to the Catholic Church here in SLC more often and indulge my stained-glass window cravings. LOL

I know exactly what you mean about wanting to give this deck special attention. I like to do that with each deck so that I don't feel "rushed" with it. Perhaps we can do a mini-group study with our decks when mine arrives.
And I'm thinking that indulging your stained glass window cravings at the Catholic Church is a good idea. All that beautiful colored light that shines through those images. I adore stained glass....

Guess it depends on who you ask *ROFLMAO* ... in MHO there is no such thing as having too many decks on order. I am sure Faunabay and Truthsayer will back me up on this too! *LOL* ... then again, as I said, depends on who you ask! ;) ... the question is ... how bad do you want it?

For some of us ~giggles~ ... to order it all you have to do is go to Tarot Garden. Jeannette will take good care of you. Please ensure that in your e-mail you let them know you are purchasing the deck from Tarot Garden as a result of a recommendation through Aeclectic ... that way part of the proceeds come to support Aeclectic!
YAY for you!!! I can't wait to hear how you like your deck. Tarot Garden ships quickly too! :)

The deck is 2 1/2 x 4 5/8 (thanks to Jeanette for the info ;)). I haven't received my deck yet - I can let you know more about it and how easily it handles when it arrives. I have small hands too. It sounds long but slender - so it may not be too bad to handle.
I don't believe there's a book for it and I don't know anything about the LWB that comes with it. Maybe Jeanette or Lori can answer that questions.

This deck doesn't have a book. The LWB is pretty thick, but I have to tell you that I didn't find it very helpful in terms of guidance for how to read the cards. This makes it difficult since the Minors use non-standard meanings and it's hard to understand what divinatory meanings the author was getting at in the LWB. This is a gorgeous deck, but if you're looking for something to read with, it may present a challenge.

Thanks to Jeanette and Lori for adding to my collection (addiction?) :)
It is absolutely gorgeous! I do agree with Lee that the LWB is pretty thick (written in Italian and English) and is pretty standard as far as LWBs go. I find that it handles beautifully - is just smooth enough to allow for easy shuffling, but not too slippery so that I have cards flying out all over the place!
I did a new deck spread and it looks like we'll have a beautiful relationship :)
If there's anyone out there on the fence as to whether to add this deck to their collection, I definitely say go for it!

Could someone who owns this deck tell me if it would be a good deck for a beginner. one which they learn to read tarot with for the first time?

Hey Mateo,
I personally don't think that this would be a good deck for someone to learn with because it has pip minors. In other words, for 10 wands, it shows ten wands and not much else. It's hard to learn to read tarot that way unless you're willing to memorize all the meanings of the cards instead of reading more intuitively from illustrated minors. I would definitely recommend a deck with illustrated minors for a beginner. Rider Waite Smith is the standard one but there are many many others.

My turn to bring an old thread back to life...
This is the first deck ever that makes me want to use a non scenic pips deck... The LWB is not little and is very good IMHO
The Tarocchi di Vetro deck ("Glass Tarot" LS) is another glass deck, it is gorgeous but more static. There is an incredible energy in the Vetrate! It is a pity i cannot do scannings of the pics, but the Knight of Words is jumping out of the picture straight to you!
Scapini's artwork in the Vetrate is so intricate that i certainly wouldn't call his pips non illustrated. The only minus (was mentioned somewhere by felicityk? mari_h?) is that you have to count the objects because nowhere reads "six of cups" or "four of pentacles". I think it is only a question of time though before you memorize the pictures and associate them immediately with the numbers.
The Vetrate is definitely the most amazing deck I've seen since the Tarot of Prague and waiting for the Kat's Golden ;-)
Read the excellent review of our very own filipas: http://www.tarotpassages.com/filipas6.htm
The deck is available from Tarot Garden http://www.tarotgarden.com/database/dbsearchengine.php?search_type=blob&pageenter=0
and Alida www.alidastore.com
Enjoy these somptuous pictures!

Looks very nice!! However, I'm at the moment involved with Golden Tarot and occasionally date Radiant, so I don't think I can squeeze any more decks in for a while... :D
However, does anyone else find the pictures hard on the eyes even though they are beautiful? I feel like I'm getting cross-eyed in trying to make out all the stuff in the cards! Crazy me...
It's also hard to see which card is which (heehee, reminds me of one inside joke involving hard pronounciation; 'which switch is which, you witch?!') when there are no numbers or text and the minors are pips.

The cards don't look so busy in real. But they do offer lots of symbolism and details that aren't revealed to the first glance. I think it is why this deck really beats the round Stained Glass tarot: Scapini not only used the stained glass technics but also its idea. I lend Mark Filipas'words here "A stained glass window manipulates a heavy, 2 dimensional medium and seeks to pull us into a multi-dimensional world filled with light. Scapini's cards, too, are filled with multiple layers of foreground and background. Far behind his Magician is a glowing sun, and over it is a representation of the Tree of Life whose spheres have stars with progressively numbered rays. This card being to Scapini everything symbolizing the number one and beginnings, the Magician “invents and sets in order” the four elements upon the three-legged table, with our world in the middle."
The problem i mentioned about the lacking numbers on the pips is probably the only thing that could be an issue, at the beginning.
I watched the scans again, i can assure you that the cards don't give an headache in comparison.
I traded my Radiant because the plasticity and the lack of details. I still have the Universal, Robin Wood and Hanson Roberts as "comfort"/"easy"/familiar decks. Looking forward to the Golden, enjoying Prague and Vetrate right now.
You are lucky to have the Golden already, you witch! ;)
Kissa
edited to correct the name of the "round stained glass tarot", it is indeed the tarot of the cloisters, as you know...
