Oh no! My cats got ahold of my credit card and purchased _Tarot For Cats_ for themselves! :D It's on the way to their greedy little paws and we're all very excited. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Been waiting a long time to find this deck at an affordable price.
Just wondering, of those of you that have this *adorable* deck do you actually use it and do readings with it, or do you keep it tucked away as a collector's deck? I would really love to use it, but don't know very many good spreads for a majors only deck.
The cats have already notified me that I must do a reading for them. :) I'll help them shuffle, but they are very good at choosing cards from a fanned deck. The main problem is that once cards are laid in a spread, a cat will promptly lay upon them. :)

Yes, I have used it successfully twice (I only got it a short while ago). I *love* this deck, it opens up my playful side.

i really like this deck, too. it's so adorable! i know some ppl who've used it exclusively b/c they like it so much. i treat mine as more of a collector's edition.
since your cats lay on a spread as soon as it's laid out they must be using an ancient egyptian cat tarot reading trick. cats are born knowing it and they use it on many different mediums other than tarot such as newspapers. humans stupidly think they are trying to get our attention when actually the cat is just trying to do a tarot reading or read the newspaper by osmosis or what is popularly known as "catosmosis". you must be more patient. they are simply trying to protect you from what the cards are saying. they'll tell you what the cards mean when the time is right.

LOL Love it! :) Yes, they're very adept at reading my books, magazines, tarot cards, etc. through catosmosis.

Hi all,
I have Tarot for Cats and I do use it from time to time. I like using majors only decks for those times when I "can't see the forest for the trees". I usually use a 3 to 5 card throw.
Now, about my cats…. I have three cats and they will walk on, lay on, flick their tails across, paw at, and in all other ways try to disrupt any tarot throw I do with any deck EXCEPT Tarot for Cats. My cats show “Tarot for Cats” a great deal of respect! They politely walk around any of these cards. They will NOT harm these cards in any way. I can’t explain it. They will lightly touch their nose on a card if I want to do a reading for them. If I hold the cards fanned out in front of one of my cats, that cat will touch their nose on one card. But otherwise, for my cats, Tarot for Cats is a sacred deck to be handled with the utmost care and dignity!

Really, just do simple spreads, 3 and 5 cards, like normal only use majors. I used this deck to characterize diverguy's opponents in his reading before I did the main reading. It was fabulous.

Do you mean the Food Bowl spread or the Pawprint ;)
I wanted the tarot for cats the moment i saw it and I'm glad I have it now; I have to say it's my most expensive deck, and that's for a majors only deck !! It comes with a great book though, beats any lwb if you ask me :D
I haven't used it for reading though, I'm not used to reading with majors only.

Cat,
Loved your post! I looked and looked for that deck and finally got one in a trade. I really enjoy it but mine is a collectors deck....actually my only deck that is a collectors deck.
Congrats to you and your cats!

My new Tarot for Cats cards arrived this weekend and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them!!! The book is hilarious and the cards are fantastic - so well drawn! I'm so impressed with the way the artist was able to include the traditional Rider-Waite symbolism - but in "cat language" (can of tuna, string, etc.) These cards are definitely my new favorites! :) I'm having a hard time deciding which card I like "best" - but I think the top three are "Hanging cat" "Justice" and "Temperance"
And the adorable spreads and descriptions in the back of the book... soooo cute! :D

So, here is the first "Paw Print" reading performed by and for one of my cats...
Reeses, our big orange tabby, wanted to know what he should do about "that evil spotted dog" that lives in HIS house. He gets along fine with our older dog ("Heath" - a shepherd mix), but the other dog ("Freckles" - a hyper Dalmatian) is a problem and often ends up with a swipe across the nose). Here are his cards:
1 - Temperance - a little self control and patience will help, maybe an evil glare will suffice to keep the dog away instead of swiping.
2 - Moon - unlike Heath who is mild-mannered and predictable, Freckles has erratic behavior and is deceptive (sneaking food out of the cat's bowl).
3 - Hierophant - Reeses expects and appreciates orderliness and things to remain the same. His relaxing bird watching, meditation and transcendental cat-nip trips are interrupted by the wild, noisy dog.
4 - Lovers - because of his love for his humans, he may have to make the difficult decision to adjust his "cat ethics and beliefs" regarding dogs.
5 - Hanging Cat - Reeses may have to make some sacrifices for the household to be at peace again.
6 - Fool - in the future, if Reeses can overcome his prejudices, the two of them may be able to start over again and have a fun and exciting relationship.

Royal Cat and all -
I received my Tarot for Cats deck set today and love, love, love it! I'm planning on reading the book this evening and doing a new deck spread at that time ;), but I just HAD to look through the deck... The pictures are so charming (Kipling West is an awesome illustrator. Considering how much I love the Halloween Tarot deck, it's no surprise to me that I find Tarot for Cats so wonderful), it's hard to narrow down to a top 3 pick. These are my 3 favorites: The Star :TSTAR, The Hanging Cat :THANG and The Devil :TDEV.

Isn't that Hanging Cat soooooo cute? :)
I've used my cards a few times, but mostly for practice and to get to know the cards better. I love the book that comes with them. Bravo to the artist- a wonderful deck!
Enjoy your cards!
