Anyone have this deck? Have you been able to read with it?

I don't read much, but at a recent "trunk show" event sponsored by a reader/hypnotherapist friend of mine, we pulled out the "Wild Spirit" and tried reading with it. The results were interesting, and relatively accurate, I think. At the end of the day, I asked my friend to pick out a deck from my inventory, to keep as a "thank you" gift, and she selected the "Wild Spirit" deck -- so she must have been happy enough with the results to want to add it to her collection (since she's only interested in decks that she feels she can use for readings).
Have you tried reading with the Wild Spirit yet, Cupcake? If so, what did you think?

Well, I bought this one after an agonising wait for its publication...
The fist thing noticed about reading with this deck is that when you shuffle it, due to the beautiful and colourful backs of the cards, i looks like a rainbow-waterfall falling thrugh your hands.. It's very hypnotic.
Secondly, however, there are a couple of bad point about reading with this deck that put me off it slightly.. Often with the Minors, the images would be very difficult to read without the keywords, and sometimes thse keywords don't even mean much! This is not only difficut for those wo read intuively, but it does restrict you a bit I feel.
Also, in quite a few of the Minors, the traditional meanings bequethed tous by Waite and Crowlet are not used, and chaged totally, whic can leave you eeling a little onfused.
On he plus side, the Majors are stunning: Full of symbolism, very easy to read, an they almost draw you into the cards...
So, there's my take on how easy this eck reads. I wrote a review on the whole deck for this websit, which is up with Solandia's reviews, and some images of the cards...

I have this one too. I haven't used it that much for readings yet, but it a wonderful deck imho.
I agree - it is not very traditionally based regarding the pictures -neither the Majors nor the Minor. But that makes it so interesting to me!
I think, this deck requires a more intuitive, meditative approach then others. I did one or two readings for others with good results and had little problems with the interpretation. However, I agree at first you might better read through the text that goes along the cards to get a feeling for the card but otherwise I think this deck is particularly good for meditation. :)
I think this deck could not really go along with the Rider Waite based interpretations as it simply is a different approach and a complete different atmosphere than the RWS based decks I have so far. Its artwork is really amazing and beautiful, especially if you like pixies and faeries and that stuff. ;)

I thought I would use it for both for spellwork and meditation. It is a beautiful deck and gives me the impression of something magical. I love the backs, but I can't read with it, but find that it is a deck that has more deeper context than most, more on a inner spiritual level, if that makes any sense at all...sounds crazy, but I think it would work wonderfully with past life readings and karma readings. The art is beautiful, the card stock is excellent, and the book....well, it is something I think I would read from before performing a spell :). I think the deck would be great in finding the spirits that surround a person, and calling forth helper spirits in times of crisis.

I just got this deck myself, and so far, I am very pleased with it. All I've had time to do is look through it a few times, but the artwork is completely enchanting. I'm hoping to be able to read with it. It seems to me like it would be possible if going more by intuition and the pictures rather than RWS type interpretations. It does seem very lively and positive. I'll have to let you know how my readings with it go, when I get around to it (busy, busy!).

You're right. Although the imagery is different, the meanings are similiar. More deeper it seems, more light and airy somehow. I do love the book, the stories are so magical...It takes me away to a mystical place where all is calmer.

I haven't done any readings with this deck yet - I have it in my possession for about an hour now :D Thanks Kiama and Solandia for the reviews !
Once again I've fallen for a deck that does not stick to the traditional meanings... I'll read some of the book before I'll try reading with this deck but I just know I'm going to love it anyway. Those cheerful colours and yes, the backside is amazing. I often fall for nature/pagan decks, but this one I find also looks modern and the artwork is just so beautiful.
I'm wondering too who reads with this deck already.

When I first started the book I felt the same way, however by time I finished reading the Major Arcana section I was wondering if Poppi Pallin would prefer to live in a world of chaos since she finds social order, goal setting (and achieving), and responsibility so wrong.
As a human, I was also starting to feel a bit defensive of the human race. There appeared to be an underlying assumption that all humans are bad and have really negative emotions, etc. No credit for good humans. And she really does not like humans with money.
I guess to sum it up ... I felt a bit beat up as a human being after reading the Major Arcana section of the book. Yet at the same time I felt so sad for Poppi. She must have had a series of really awful experiences with poeple and jobs. I am trying to muster up the courage to read the Minor Arcana section of the book now *LOL*.
Now that I have said all of those things about the book, I must say I love the deck. I think Poppi has some good messages, and where she clouded them with some bad examples and bad personal experiences (unless wild spirit is indeed intended to mean chaos)in the book, she has beautifully illustrated them on the cards. The cards intuitively provide the magical and transforming messages.
I agree that this deck is great for spiritual work ... I am actually using it for shadow work. I doubt I will ever even refer to the book once I am done reading it for the first time. Well that is my two pearls worth. Lee has written a very good review of this deck and book, and gives some EXCELLENT examples of what I am saying about the book ... you can find Lee's review at www.tarotpassages.com
Sorry didn't mean to be a party pooper, but as I just finished reading the Major Arcana section last night it was pretty fresh on my mind, and I was wanting to express this to someone.

If Poppi had some bad experiences with people/jobs, she still managed to make a cheerful deck. At least I find it that...so colourful and bright.
I haven't read much in the book. I drew one card (The Fiddler) and wanted to read the according chapter, but she seemed to repeat herself all the time, I soon got bored. Oh dear, now I think I won't have the courage to start reading again ;).
Maybe it would have been better if she had someone else write or help her write the book, she is such a great artist but unfortunately not that great a writer.
I did a reading with the deck for a friend, just looking at the pictures and keywords, and it was pretty accurate, I was a bit surprised at this myself. It's still too early to know if I'll use this deck for a lot of reading though.

After spending a few days reading the book, I have come to the conclusion that using this deck and book is a wonderful way to get in touch with the energies surrounding me before a reading. I do a one card spread asking what is surrounding me at this time, and then I read the cards' energies from the book. Then I use my primary deck for the reading. I think it is a great meditative deck and it seems to put me in touch with the things I normally am not aware of that surround me in the natural world each moment of my existence. This deck seems to deepen my perception and grounds me in preparation for a reading. I think this deck is more about Wicca then anything else. So someone into Wicca would really go for this deck!

I'm glad you do like the book a lot. I really like the deck a lot, I think I should give the book a second chance. It's not really fair to judge it on the little I read of it, but it's certainly not a book that I enjoyed immediately. I did love the deck straight away though.

WolfSpirit I also love the deck. I have now read the Majors section and the "Earth" sections of the book ... my feel of the book remains the same (but I will finish it!). But as has been stated earlier in this thread this deck is great for intuitive work.
Tarot Cupcake, I am glad you are enjoying both the deck and the book! ... I am a little jealous ;) (I really wanted to like this book).

I use the book to let the card speak to me and tell me of its' origin. Then I meditate on why that particular spirit chose to be with me that day and for that particular reading.
