I dont know what name is of my cards & I cant see them on aeclectic. They were very cheap, given by my daughter for a Xmas present , & after years & years reading the tarot, these are the ones I like best. The high priestess is between 2 pillars, wearing a blue gown.death is white with a black skeleton on horseback.the moon is blue, with 2 moon faces above a hill with a wolf & a dog howling. wands are orange, swords purple, cups sky blue, & pentacles yellow. Anybody know them? As I said, just cheap recent ones, but I like them.

Hi ming, it sounds like you have the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, also known as the Rider deck or Rider-Waite. Does that link show your deck? If not, perhaps you could describe the Minor Arcana -- do they have scenes on them, or just pictures of cups and pentacles and swords and wands?

Do you have access to a scanner, perhaps you could scan a few cards and post the pics...?
Without more than your description to go by, it's hard to say. My first thought when I read your description is Rider Waite, but I wouldn't call that a "really cheap" one... (And besides those are on Aeclectic, and all other Tarot-sites probably...! :D)
The cheapest Tarot deck I know is the Royal Tarot, here they sell for €6. I know I have seen those on the net somewhere, perhaps you can do a search and check them out?
Good luck finding them!
Jenny :)

no, its not Rider Waite.the minor cards --swords are just swords on a purple background, not scenes.pentacles are disks on a yellow background.Cups are yellow goblets on a blue background. And wands are red/white staves on an orange background.they work better than my others, the st. petersburg, because the court cards describe a person, whereas the russian ones dont.I wish I had a name for them! they were £5 2 or 3 years ago....

I'm assuming you don't have the little booklet that usually comes with the cards. Is there the name of a publisher on the side border of one of the cards? What do the backs look ike?

It's the Barnes & Noble Tarot Deck. You can read about it here.

It's cheap for a reason.
The art is a horrible mishmash of styles from multiple decks.
The Major Arcana cards are serviceable but the Minor Arcana cards can't decide whether to be pip cards or nonpip. Some are one kind, some are the other kind, and some are something in between.
I cannot recommend this to anyone except a hardcore collector.

And that is what counts! Sure would be boring and little to discuss if we all had the same preferences. Stick by your deck, if you love and it works for you who cares what others think ;)

Of course the deck works well for her (almost said him good thing i checked lol), it was given to her by her daughter who I assume she loves very much and loves her very much, especially since she loves her grandchildren :) An emotional bnd with a deck can be a powerful thing

Hi ming,
Did they come with a purple book by Jonathon Dee? I bought these cards from a bookshop last Christmas, the colour attracted me - I love purple.
I don't use the deck very often but I have read with it - I used the book and Rider Waite interpretations, its a nice clear deck and although the Minors can be a little confusing, some with scenes and others with pips, I like the artwork especially The Empress. :)

yes, Emily. Thats the one. They been in the shops a few years now, with slight changes to the cover of the book. I like them for the descriptions, like the kinght of swords, the king of cups, etc--they describe a person. And these descriptions are very handy if you reading, say, for a son's new girlfriend!---get a wee look at her personality....they really accurate. I just say -what kind of person is so-and-so...I like also the St. petersburg russian deck, but they dont have these descriptions. (The sons current girl is the Q of cups, by the way!) I love very much the high priestess.
