A few more questions on the Röhrig Tarot

Hi there :D

I've been studying the Röhrig Tarot majors for a while and (at the risk of stretching the patience of Liliana, Pollux and the other Röhrig experts) I have a few more questions about some of them...

First, a few of the runes are raising some questions...

The Lovers - this card has a "Y" shaped rune on it - I don't find this rune in my book at all. Any ideas on which one this is supposed to be? The closest I find is Algiz, but that appears on another card.

The Chariot - the rune on this card appears to be a blending of Gebo (an "X" shape) and Isa (the "|" shape). In other words, I'm at a complete loss on this one too...

The Wheel of Fortune - this one's really got me beat as well... it's like a diamond shape laid over the Isa rune. Thurisaz is the only rune which is similar (according to the book I have). Thurisaz a verticle line with a triangle to the right - like half of the rune on this card.

The Tower - the rune here appears to me to simply be Algiz, but reversed. Algiz (like a "Y" with the verticle line continuing up between the arms) does appear on The Devil in the upright orientation.

And now for something completely different... })

I've noticed that on at least 14 of the 22 Major Arcana of the Röhrig Tarot there are fields of stars depicted as part of the imagery. Many of the Minors depict these fields of stars as well. I am wondering how others interpret this? What do the books say on this topic? Unfortunately the LWB (Little White Booklet) is virtually worthless for giving you clues to the intended interpretations of these images. My feeling has been (in a nutshell) that these star fields relate to the super-conscious or cosmic consciousness/awareness. Any other thoughts?

By the way Liliana - since you had been asking about it :D - I did do a new deck reading, which I posted a little while ago. You can see it at http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7368

ruin my mpatience asking about Rohrig? Impossible hehe

The runes on the Rohrig deck are not the traditional runes you get when you buy a rune set. I have no idea what system they derive from, but I know they are the same on the Haindl Tarot, a reason why i want to get the Haindl Tarot's Major Arcana book as its written by the excellent author Rachel Pollack, so Im sure she goes into better rune detail. Also some runes used are the same ones in a traditional rune set, but they are an alternate version of them. I have a book on runes that shows many of the alternatives, but they are also named in the Rohrig book.

The rune on the lovers is called Kenaz and it means torch

Chariots rune is Haglaz and it means hailstone

Wheel is Yera and means the Solar Year

They call the towers rune yr, but proceed to say that it means the same as elhaz (the preceeding cards rune) reversed. This set is one of the reasons i want pollacks book hehe

The book doesnt go into the star fields really, but I agree with your theory that it relates to the cosmic unconsciousness, and in some cards the amount of stars shows the depth of the connection (like magus and hermit who have a ton at their heads) Conversey the Earthy Emperor has very few at his head and they are at the very back, which tells something, as does the fact that the world is clothed in them.
