Hi Jema,
This is one of the luxury edition by LoScarabeo and it is really great!! Nothing to compare with their usual comic book style.
Ok, it is a deck with an Russian Orthodox background, very pious looking but I do not mind that with a Russian deck. The Gold foil looks great. The titles are printed in very small letters on the left side of the cards, similar to the Tarot of the Master (you'll see when you get that one), so it is not so disturbing as the usual broad wide border layout LoScarabeo usually fancies. The deep red colouring matches well with the cards. This Mr Atanasow did really a great job with this deck.
I can only strongly recommend it to any serious collectors or for all with a craving for Visconti Sforza Gold edition or the Nefertari deck (B/W the latter is also a LoScarabeo deck).

I just got the deck and I love the artwork. I like the fact that it comes with an alternative to the Celtic Cross, but I can't really see myself reading with this deck -- definitely one for meditation. By candlelight, of course.

thanks for the description!
i think i will save up and put in an order to Alida sometime in november.
i will also try and get the visconti and perhaps a Folchi tarot too - while i am at it:)
i do love the Kazanlar and i like the Egorov and the medieval scapini so i probably won't be disappointed.

Curious which Folchi tarot is catching your eye?
I liked the Mythological and Columbus of the five that I have, as the art really was different and intricate. I'm not wild about Colors of Tuscany, but I like the landmarks. Pistoia is a little too cartoonish to me...if you don't mind a mix of Bible personalties and odd humor, his Tarot of the Master actually has some interesting scenes.
And if he ever gets his printing/image rights back to the Fererra Tarot, I'm ordering it from Alida.store.com!
Best wishes,
Mari H.

i am thinking about either the Tarocco di Sissi
or the Il Tarocco Mitologico
but they are very expensive and there are so many other decks i want too.

Congrats on the deck Catlin!!! Beautiful deck!
Do you or anyone else know if this deck has 3 editions? I am asking because I have seen 3 different box styles of this deck online, and I do not want to get a version that isn't gold foiled (or are all of them gold?).
One black box said "Zar Gold Tarot" though the title webpage said "The Golden Tarot of the Tsar"
Another black box said "The Golden Tarot of the Tsar"
The last box I saw, was a golden box, and I definately know this one is gold.
But I am wondering about the first 2.
Also I have seen them in black bordered cards and also reddish bordered cards...
Help!!!

I received this deck from Lo Scarabeo, and the cards are bordered in red, with gold foil, and the box says "Zar Gold Tarot" on one side and "The Golden Tarot of the Tsar" on the other.
I did see on Lo Scarabeo's website that the cards look bordered in black, but I don't think that's what you'll get when you order it.
I'm positive that any possible versions of it would have gold foil.

For Golden Tsar
If you find it on Alida.com and want the instructions in English, note that and they will ensure this on your order. Scans sometimes turn the beautiful foil background as black or dull yellow. My copy with English instructions also had another little white book that was printed in Spanish. I noticed that the box had various language titles on the title card.
I had a second order of this deck for a present to someone and her copy also had the English language instructions, an additional Spanish language little white book and multiple language titles on the box and the title card.
I haven't tried ordering it elsewhere.
