I ordered the Buckland Romani kit and it came today. This is MY deck! I've gotten quite a few others, but didn't really connect with them. This deck and book, though, are IT for me! I'm so thrilled! I'm still going to collect decks, but this one is going to definitely be the one I can read with and be spiritually attached to. I was on the verge of giving up, thinking I wasn't ever going to quite "get" it, even though my daughter and grand daughter both just took right to tarot like ducks to water and made connections with different decks.
Others must have the Buckland Romani. If so, how do you like it? What has been your experiences with doing readings with it?

Wow, Lee. From those other threads, it would seem like nobody liked this deck. Or most didn't. I'm glad I didn't read that thread first and let it prevent me from getting the deck.
Buckland recommends that you use your intuition in giving readings, and for some reason it all makes a lot more sense to me with this deck than it has with any other deck I've tried to use so that I find it easier to do that. It's a beautiful deck!
For anyone considering this deck, I heartily recommend that you at least give it a chance. It's wonderful to shuffle, too, by the way. I have small hands and have had trouble shuffling most decks. Although this one is a standard size, it's not too stiff to shuffle, but not too flexible to be durable.
You can get the kit from Amazon for $24.95 and they also have several used kits listed for even less than that. One was only $10, brand new, book and all but I had ordered already before I saw it and I think it's gone now. It qualifies for their free shipping if you get the new deck from Amazon, too.

Hi, Teal!
Glad you're enjoying working with the Buckland.
You will probably have seen from the other threads that I'm not a fan myself, but it would be a sad world if we all liked the same decks when there's so many out there to choose from. What would we have to discuss?! I seem to be one of the few people who adores the Bosch - and nothing anybody says can put me off it. I also love the AET, which has received very mixed reactions. If you love the look and feel of the Buckland I'm sure it will respond with appreciation and give you good readings.
Have you tried a new deck spread yet?

I did a new deck spread but was pressed for time and didn't write it down. It was a very good one, I just don't remember what cards, though. Do you think I should do another one when I can pay better attention?

Wow, another Buckland Romani fan! Thanks for the good word. I just think it's fantastic, as I've said already. I don't know why, but it just clicked in my mind and it works for me where I didn't seem to get it with any other ones. Maybe it's because I'm a gypsy soul at heart. I lived in a converted bus at one time and I'd love it if I had a gypsy vardo to live in! LOL

I'm wondering if this deck is connected to a different Buckland tarot book and set ... that is something like "Gypsy Foture Telling Tarot Kit", and has a book by Raymond Buckland I believe as well?
I borrowed this from a friend and no longer have it in my house, but the cards of this Buckland deck were small, but showed the pips on all the minors. The majors were mostly pictures of gypsy's wagons. I found it difficult to even imagine working with.
The book was interesting, about the Romani tradition, and had sections on palm readings, tea readings, sticks thrown, all sorts of things for divination.
Anyone know what I'm talking about, or seen/have this set? (it's totally differect than the Buckland Romani pictures I saw on the home page too, i checked)

I have the Buckland Fortune-Telling Tarot deck, but not the book. You're right, it's completely different from the Buckland Romani. As you say, the Major scenes are not standard, but instead show scenes from Gypsy life. The pips are playing cards. It's interesting, but because the Majors are completely non-standard, I wouldn't call it a Tarot deck.

Boy howdy I sure agree with you on using the deck. I couldn't imagine it being terribly helpful, but then I guess I'm biased against reading pips. I'm still too reliant on the illustrations -- without the subtle subconscious stimulae of the illustrations I don't feel at all connected to a reading.
The book is really the best part of the kit, but still not one of my top ten picks, by far.
