Greetings again dear friends!
This is the first time I post in here in two months, so ofcourse it has to be about my new tarot decks. :D I've bought two in addition to two playing-cards decks (don't remember which, have to get back to that).
Well, you see in the headline which tarot decks I've bought, and now I want to know what you guys think about them! I absolutely adore the Gill Tarot, it's one of the more beautiful ones I've seen! And the Sun-card, it's amazing. Simply love it. Reading with it was a tad hurtful, since she's (first time I gender a deck, wow) painfully honest. Accurate.
The Tarot of the Ages is so-so. When I tried it out in Thailand, I just couldn't connect at all. Tried several times. But maybe it has to do with me and not the deck; I was a tad confused at the time... Wasn't really in touch with my own Self either. Sooo, gonna try it out again soon. Like the images, but not the white frame.
Any opinions?
Good to be back! :D

YOU'RE BACK!!! YAY!!!!
Now, I don't have either of the decks you listed, but Tarot of the Ages is on the top of my wish list. From what I have seen, it looks to be an amazing deck. Hopefully you will be able to use it!
Welcome back!

Hi Aeonx! I just posted about the Gill earlier, saying Amazon had sent me a notice that it had been shipped, and then I walked out to my mailbox & there it was!
I've only taken a quick look-thru as I'm on my way out to school, but it looks wonderful. Yes, the Sun is fantastic and so is the Hermit, Death, the 2 of Wands, the Empress and just about all of the Cups!! Translation: I really like this deck! :) Nice to know someone else is enjoying it too today.

I just put the Gill on my wish list! I don't mind brutally honest decks, I need that sometimes... ;), so it sounds like a good deck for me!

Congratulations on your new decks (and welcome back, btw)! I love my Gill - it's one of my favorite decks. And it is definitely a brutally honest deck :)

Tarot of the Ages to me has pretty images to me. Any stories I make up about the readings have a sci-fi/fantasy twist to them. For no reason, but for fun, I took storylike events from the Time Machine by H.G. Wells and searched the deck to see if I could see similar scenes in the Tarot of the Ages.
You can see that I was trying to find ways to connect to this deck. It's like seeing a fun adventure movie as a kid and extending the story line and characters in my imagination.
If others use it for self-discovery or find it amazingly intuitive, I'd like to hear.

Oops... Deja vù. ;)
You will love it. It is great!!! I have not had such brutal-honesty experiences yet, but I know the accounts she gives (also mine is a lady! :D) are rather neat and definite. LOVE IT!
I think that more than 50% of my posts are to praise the Gill in a thread like this... So I'd better stop... :D *LOL*

Great, everybody loves the Gill! :D
Actually, I'm just on my way upstairs to try her out again. Gotta take a look at a certain relationship... NOOOO! Just remembered that I left her at my mother's house. Damn. Hey, I have my beloved Hanson-Roberts here, I can use ... errr, I'm not used to gendering my decks. :P

Ok, folks, I see I have to get the Gill, too.
Tarot of the Ages still sleeps in my book case. I compared it with Ancestral Path deck and found out that the latter speaks more to me than the Ages. Especially the Viking cards in the Ages deck seem pretty cold to me, I could much better connect with the Asian inspired sword cards of the Ancestral Path deck.

Welcome back Aeonx! I have both of these decks and of the two I prefer the Gill, but I have not worked much with either. I fing Tarot of the Ages more beautiful than anything else. I would love to lay them out on a table and place a piece of glass over them and keep them on display *LOL*. The little I have worked with these decks, I have found the Gill to be more user friendly, but not trade either of them :)

Kiama's idea of a research (I just remember it was Kiama's, correct me if not so) was really interesting to me.
Hanson-Roberts is a girlie. Or maybe, more appropriate an effeminate boy. Yup, definitely. *LOL*

Hi,
Haven`t got either of these decks although Gill is at the top of my wish list along with the Glastonbury, I just don`t know which one to get. For all of you Gill lovers: Do you need a good knowledge of Quabbalah ( sp?) to get on with this deck? cos if so it`s not for me.
Enjoy your new decks.
Blessings

Ohhhhh that is tough one! I own both, they are very different decks. If you are interested in the Celtic themed decks, like simple art, vibrant colors, and fully illustrated minors you will want the Glastonbury. If you want something that is a bit more traditional, Thoth based, and with "moody" minors (not fully illustrated, but not pips ... mood setters) then you will want the Gill. Tough call. I say get them both!

You Tarot Sirens have me in your grasp! I definately will get both of these decks, but finances are very tight, so which one 1st? That`s the question that`s really doing my head in.

Hmmm,
Starfish, I think I`m on your wavelength, the Gill has definately been doing a lot of calling to me lately, it`ll be very different from my other decks because of those pip-like minors, but I think that something slightly different would do me good.

I thought I could resist the pull of this deck...but no! EVERYONE has it and EVERYONE seems to love it!
And now Pollux is going to be using the Gill Tarot in the 78DW Study Group, so I don't think I can escape it!
Sigh...better get out the credit card...
Peace,
Melvis

Oh dear, here's a question.
What do you think of the High Priestess in the Gill?
I'd enjoy hearing your views, as this was the design that was a pivot point for me. Her eyes and facial expression are straight at the viewer, which is fine. But I didn't feel the inward reflection, the mirroring or other things that seemed to touch me when I defined High Priestess. Do you find her striking, intense, thoughtful?
I think people who like symmetry would find her well-balanced. I'm very different, for my favorite tarot designs seem to have more assymetrical designs and three-quarter views.
Because there are so many Gill fans, I'd really like your opinions.

Mary, I am in the process of finishing my post in the study Group. Some things about the High Priestess are there, in comparison with the Magician.
I LOVE the card.
The asymmetry/symmetry of designs is not a pet peeve for me, I just consider the "final" product.
"But I didn't feel the inward reflection, the mirroring or other things that seemed to touch me when I defined High Priestess."
I maybe understand what you mean, but actually I don't have any problems with it. This maybe because of the atmosphere of the card: the cave underground, looking out at the starred sky, the shiny design of the crown (I love it!) the gentle flowing of the garments that become a waterfall, the pale skin... There's a whole bunch of features that link me back to the archetype. Maybe it is simply a matter of personal preferences of artwork.
The first thing I associate the HP to is water, and then moon. And the two features stand out in the card. The waterfall creates a pond at her feet, reflecting the vault, and some water drips from her veil, as if it stemmed from her head, or from the Moon Crown itself. I have bo problems with her face, I love her deep eyes, and her stern, serious, focused expression. They are eyes that know the truth, and can see or detect it. The idea of hidden knowledge, of Inner Vision, Wisdom, Receptivity, Reflection... Subconscious and Night, the Flow of Awareness... I love it!
Hope this rambling helped! :)
========>>>>>>
On a less less less serious note...
In the mysts of time, there were two curious characters, Pollux and Jema, possessing the Gill. Those were dark days, since they were alone, on the mountain of Gill Praise, waiting for the flood that had swept the planet to subdue.
A wonderful day, someone (moved by a Divine Spark - IT WAS THE SIGN! :D) enquired about the deck, giving Pollux and Jema a new reason to exist.
Their minds, therefore, started copulating together, creating a new, huge offspring of Gill Pupils, nurtured and guided by the overly enthusiastic and persuasive posts of their progenitors about the Naughty Lady of Tarot Decks (another name for The ONE).
Thus the Earth was repopulated, and the cycle could start again.
(From the Myth of Thysbe/Jema and Piramo/Pollux...)
Now, everytime Starfish, Keslynn, Maan or also Jewel (even though she does not belong to my offspring ;) *LOL*) talks about the Gill, I feel itchy, but happy! :D *LOL*
And I see Aeons has fallen too, and Catlin and Melvis won't resists that long... "My heart leaps of joy, when...." *LOL* I just need some more time, and Phoenix will be on our side too }) *LOL* :D
Jewel, do you think that my main life purpose, as a tarot-holic, was concluded? I need your wise opinion... *LOL*
ALL HAIL GILL !!!
