Until a couple of days ago I would have said the 3 kinds of tarots were RWS, thoth, and marsailles. I classed everythin else as near-tarot or not-tarot-enough-oracle-thing. Someone just suggested that Visconti qualified as a 4th catagory with the description of catagories below. Can someone sum up or point ot thread that listss the 10 major points to look for to make this catagorization. I know that inside every catagory their exist minor difference that each example unique. It is the big 10 points I would like to have. Plus why would visconti qualify as a whole catagory; what decks pattern after it?
1. RWS has pictures like a scene from a play on the pip cards
2. Thoth has pip withouth scenes but inspirational patterns and some pictures and symbols scattered about to aid in memory recall.
3. Marsailles hsa pip cards that may have decorative patterns but are basically patterns related to the number and suit. One is expected to have studied enough or have a good memory to know how to use these. Maybe they force you to use your intuition, (why have pictures on ... next thred please.)
