hi all--
i was just going through decks, and a thought occurred to me. both the rider and the thoth decks are the product of a male vision manifested by a female artist. and these decks are 'classics'. does anyone know of any other decks that were a collaboration of male energy and female form??
or for that matter, female energy and male form??

Yes, the Portal was rendered by a male artist. At the time, David knew little of Tarot but quite a bit of Buddhism, I-Ching, etc. The portal concept was (and is) a theme he was pursuing via his 'regular' art. I saw a tarot deck in them...and the Portal Tarot was born. My experience with learning to cope with being stabilized bi-polar was expressed to David via 'stories' to define the archetypes. David..I guess for lack of a better word...'intuited' both my understanding of the Major's and his own. I think that's why it's so meditative in nature.
The 'energy' of the deck was a co-mingling...but the art is all David's. The way we work: Since David doesn't work the cards and I do...we meet and brainstorm key meanings and discuss an overall philosophy for approach and then David works his magic. We debate the draft images...some get kept some trashed..based on how we view Tarot.
Hope this proves informative! It truly is a collborative effort.
