Well, first I have to say that I love the exchange system on this site. Just last week (Fri) I finally got a hold of the Cosmic Tarot thanks to the Hermit :). I love the art and alot of the cards speak to me so easily, I got a really good feeling from them too. I was suprised how quickly I connected to this deck! So of course I did a new deck spread, and of course I left my notes at home in a huge mess I call my "journal":) But I will be sure to let all of you know how it went when I get organised (tomorrow).
Also I came across the Vision Tarot at a local shop. It's one I've never seen around here before (actually I havent seen that many decks around here, but things are getting better) so I decided to pick it up. I love the photos that sort of re-create alot of the art on some of the older, more renowned decks. The only drawback would be amidst all these lovely pictures for the Major arcana and Court cards, the rest of the Minor arcana are just "pips" pretty much. Like, the 10 of swords is just 10 swords stuck in the ground, 9 of swords is 9 swords stuck in the ground. Kind of lame but, overall it's a nice deck!
Any of you have either of these decks? What's your thoughts?

Someone else finally has the Vision Tarot! I started a thread a couple months ago when I first got mine but I don't think I got a single response.
It seems like a bunch of SCA friends got together and said, "Let's make a deck!" It's interesting, but not something that I could read with or meditate with. I don't like all the distant shots in the Majors, and the Minors are repetitive. Go through the Swords backwards and it reminds me of a Sesame Street segment on subtraction. Otherwise, the "Golly, let's dress up and go make a tarot!" feeling is rather charming. Work with it, no, but it does make me smile.
Lots of people around here have the Cosmic Tarot, but I don't, so I'll let them speak for that deck.

Congratulations on your new decks. The Vision Tarot sounds interesting, do you know of any sites with images of it we can see?

Kyrielle, I am sorry that I missed that post! I ave the Vision Tarot as well, and I find that I can get some of the best intuitive readings from it!
I hope that you enjoy both of your decks!

*BWAAaaahahaha!* I find the deck pretty attractive from the images I saw, but this is absolutely true, kyrielle. You know what deck is even more like that, though? The Cosmic Tribe!
The pips are interesting for the Vision; it looks like they put a heck of a lot more energy into the Cups than the other suits. I am drawn to this deck, but it's likely I'd have a similar reaction to Kyrielle's if I tried to read with it.
Here is a bigger picture of a few of the cards: http://www.wicce.com/vision.jpg

There's something to the Vision Tarot made in 1995 as a popular culture development. This is photomontage that reminds me of a staged scene with a RenFaire attitude.
Might make a nice comparison deck to other people-based photomontage decks---the Sacred Circle? Or stage-inspired decks--Romeo and Juliet? I like that it has the old fashioned European ordering of Justice and Strength and I thought the booklet was well-done. There were sample decks that I looked at and I keep looking at the Vision Tarot. I was tempted to use it with my Gareth Knight book (Magical World of the Tarot: Fourfold Universe, the sequel to the older Treasure House of Images/Tarot Magic)
My teacher of a mask-making class talked about theatre troops that sprang up in Italy in the 1480s outside of the church and the Commedia d'Arte. So sometimes I am curious to think if they did a tarotlike scene on a stage, what would it look like? Maybe the Vision Tarot could be looked at like that.
I sometimes am curious about seeing the recreated atmosphere for festivals and more popular culture that surrounded trump, card or tarot games of later decades that weren't just for the courtly people.
Just my take...if your Vision is an old-fashioned stage scene tarot, then Cosmic Tarot (the one with the old film stars) is the 20th century movie version...
Best wishes,
Mari H.

First of all, let me say that I get so confused sometimes about the names of decks...quite a few decks have the prefixes/suffixes "Cosmic" "Tribe" "Vision" and others like "New", "Universal" ...all in different combinations...argh! Doesn't it drive you nuts trying to keep them all straight?
That aside, the Cosmic Tarot seems to be rather nice - it actually reminds me of the World Spirit a little - I read the Prince of Wands is supposed to be Tom Cruise? Looks more like Joaquin Phoenix to me! I prefer the Vision though...I can almost feel as if I'm watching the Tower go down :)
The pips are interesting for the Vision; it looks like they put a heck of a lot more energy into the Cups than the other suits.

I think the swords are quite well-done, too :)

I just did a trade for the Vision - haven't gotten it yet though. I'll let you know what I think when it gets here.
It's a very interesting deck. For me the Vision is one of those decks you are drawn to but not enough to buy. :) So I'm very excited to beable to trade for it. :D
