Fey Tarot

I saw this Fey Tarot deck once on the internet and I'm wondering does anyone here own one?

I really like the pictures and would like to know, does it look as good as on the webpage? Is it difficult to use for beginners?

Any info provided is greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)

catlin  21 Oct 2002
If you are referring to the LoScarabeo Fey tarot: it's a pretty funny one but I am not so sure if it is so suitable for readings. LoScarabeo decks are quite peculiar in style and reading "conduct".

Joywalker  21 Oct 2002
Thanks for the advice! :)

I rather get a deck that I could use than just as a collectible item.

Just check out the Fradella Adventure Tarot Deck and the Quest Tarot. They look good to me and seems usable as well.

Maan  21 Oct 2002
I thought that the lo scarabeo fey tarot is not published yet?

catlin  22 Oct 2002
Well, I actually got several copies of decks which will be available here in Germany in November at the LoScarabeo stall at Frankfurt book fair for free. The decks were display decks with some cards missing, but when Mr Pigniatello offered them to me I could not resist.

Maybe I will use the 3 non-complete decks (fey tarot, comparative tarot and journey to the orient) to split them up and distribute the cards among my best trading partners.

lunalafey  22 Oct 2002
I ordered the Fey Tarot a while back and awaiting it's delivery.....in a few weeks still!!!!

Pollux  27 Oct 2002
OH CATLIN YOU ARE SO WICKED!!! You must love making all of us jealous... *LOL*
Your conjuring and manipulating powers must be boundless... ;)

I have ordered the deck at my bookshop, but it has not arrived yet! :(
Maybe next week... ??? URGH! :(

Anyway it is not to keep it - maybe just to trade it away... *winks at a certain Moon-related Dutchie*

Now, Catlin, PLEASE, will you put soe scans of the cards online? There are very few avaiable so far. If you want you can send the files to me, and I will upload them somewhere online, ok?
Pretty please?... :*

What a great idea and I second the motion! Pretty please? :) :)

In case anyone's interested: according to the information I received from Lo Scarabeo, the Fey tarot (and other new releases, including the Comparative Tarot, Durer 78-card edition, and Journey to the Orient) will be shipped from Italy to the North American distributor on 5 November, which should put their arrival here and make them available sometime in very early December.

The problem is that the coworker who was so kind to do the scanning has left the office and now I am terribly in need to find someone who will do this job for me as I am still computer and scannerless at home (and probably will be for a quite long time due to other expenses).

Ok, I think I will split up the decks. I don't care much for the Fey tarot (it is cute but nothing more) and the Comperative (I prefer taking out the cards in real size to compare them and not having to use glasses to see the details). As for the Journey to the Orient, I will get this one for my collection as it is really nice.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but no -- the only ones being released at this time are the four I mentioned before, plus the rerelease of the "Enchanted Tarot" under its new name ("Tarot of the Hidden Folk"). I have no information on the ones you've mentioned, other than that the target release date is "sometime in 2003."

According to the latest information, the only additional Lo Scarabeo title that has been given a specific release date (in North America, at any rate) is Lo Scarabeo's new Egyptian tarot, "Ramses: Tarot of Eternity." That one is targeted for March 2003.

I probably won't know more about the status of the rest until December at the earliest.

I found some scans of the Fey tarot at the Mara Aghem's site(the artist), although when you click on the scans to enlarge, some do not show up at all.

But I like what I see so far!

see the pictures here: Fey Tarot

Cerulean  03 Nov 2002
Alidastore.com had them available as of November 1; Tarotgarden and other U.S. based distributors should be shipping soon as well.

ARGH! Mary, you are responsible again! *LOL*

The deck is *only* € 17,50 more or less - below the average price of new decks.
Unluckily I promised myself that I won't buy any more decks till Xmas, and I got some other more urgent ones in my mind. But at least knowing that I can get it for a cheap price allows some trading-related speculations... *LOL* })

I have emailed them, since it is not clear if that is_
1) AN ITALIAN SET
2) AN ENGLISH SET
3) MERELY A DECK.

I hope they'll reply soon... :(

Cerulean  05 Nov 2002
Pollux, if you are in Europe, Argeo of Alidastore.com probably can obtain or has an English-language version available, if that is your interest. Once he wrote to me that he was one of the first distributors of Lo Scarabeo's Editions D'Arte series over 15 years ago.

He writes very nicely to customers in English, if that is the language that you need to read/write your tarot questions.

I had planned to use my biligual text/Italian versions of pamphlets in any of my tarots to teach myself this beautiful romance language...however I'm still picking out words here and there. I'm more able to learn a new system in English, so I'll save and buy the English version of the Fey in a bit.

Maybe your tarot twin Castor (to your Pollux) will whisper fey secrets in Greek...that's a weak joke. I hope if or when you find the Fey side, it's a good tarot for you. Best wishes and I wanted to thank the thread author---I kept looking out for the Fey because of it.

Pollux  05 Nov 2002
Mari, maybe you do't know still... BUT I AM ITALIAN! *LOL*
I was born in Naples, and have always lived here so far. :)

Thank you for your kindness! :D
I emailed Argeo two days ago, anyway... *LOL* :D
You are right, he is so kind, he's always been to me so far. :)

He's told me that he'll look into that, and I am expecting an update from him shortly.
He's just neat! I think I should invite him to join Aeclectic... ;) *LOL*

Reading about your intention of learning Italian ia Little White booklets... mh... I can only wish you good luck! :D *LOL* I do't know how easy that can be.
But remember you have an Italian friend here, who shares with you a very important interest and passion! ;)
I would love to help in with your learning - I just love my country and its cultural richness, and my language as well, of course. So feel free to contact me in private for any question or anything, ok? :)

As for the Fairies, I was thinking of a Yule present - but maybe now I should focus on Dragons first. Anyway, if I buy the get I would surely prefer to get the English Set - and eventually read something from that author, not the author of the deck... I can't think of his name now, but he's involved in ost LoScarabeo decks.

Jewel  05 Nov 2002
Hey Pollux, what dragon deck are you looking at getting? I really need to quit reading this Fey thread before I absolutly have to have this deck ...

Pollux: I believe you're thinking of Riccardo Minetti.

I just have to say to the other ladies on the forum that I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Minetti at the ITS conference last May. And he is as handsome as he is charming! Woo woo!
:D :*

(Oops, sorry... is it "politically incorrect" of me to say that?)

Sorry -- no number. But I do have his e-mail address... heh, heh...

(Who do you think gives me all those juicy tidbits about upcoming Lo Scarabeo releases? <*grins*>)

The Fey tarot is by Riccardo Minetti of Lo Scarabeo---Pollux, have you tried to contact Lo Scarabeo from their website, asking for Riccardo Minetti? He put me on a reviewer's list after I posted about five or six reviews. Your slant on Italian decks would be from a very intelligent and cultured European whose in touch with many Americans. I always enjoyed your English writing.
If you ever get into the related Lo Scarabeo links, such as Tarot Passages or Giordarno (sp) Berti's site, there's great information and reviews. I could see you posting a review of the Fey Tarot on Tarot Passages or taking classes someday at Berti's Italian conferences....
Thanks for the nice lift to your messages.

I was a bit confused cos on ALIDA they had two different names. According to my understanding of it (*LOL*), Mr Riccardo Minetti has worked on the book, while other two people released the deck (though I may be still recovering from the ODD awful day at Uni and my brain be failing *LOL*) - on ALIDA the names I have seen were Pietro Alligo (ideator) and Mara Aghem (illustrator). Maybe Jeanette or someone else may confirm my theory, since you got official friendships in the high places... ;) *LOL*

Mari, what an interesting suggestion! :D
I enjoy writing, and even though I am not a mothertongue it seems that the results are decent (but I must admit my english is getting too colloquial because of Aeclectic! *LOL*).
Maybe I should give it a try, take pot luck and contact him myself, or just become more famous in this sense, and submit reviews here and there. (BTW - What do you mean "when you posted 5 or & reviews"? You mean here on Aeclectic?)

Well, yeah... :P *LOL*
It is true: most reviewers are American, or belong to English-speaking cultures. My perspective would be rather different, but at the same time take into account the attitudes and habits of the Americans. :)
What is more, there's not much call for decks at all here in Italy - I just know of a couple of other collectors, and scattered across the peninsula. Few are the ones with a "fresh", constant interest in Tarot, and with a sort of... general and up-to-date idea of where the tarot-world is heading to, a knowledge of the different decks on the market, the willingness and the practical ability (=English) to write a review.
This just to say that I would be one of them, and they might appreciate my contribution - I'll stop blowing my horn now, O promise! ;) *LOL*

Mh... Tarotpassages? You think I could do that? This is so flattering! :D *LOL* I don't think I am good enough for Tarotpassages, and it seems like they have almost EVERY deck on earth reviewed already! :( *LOL* But I will definitely try to learn more about it, it really sounds like a good idea. And don't forget about the FREE DECKS! :D *LOL*
As for the Tarot Conferences of Mr Berti, I have never heard of anything in Naples or closeby :( . But things are moving! And if they get to know there's a famous tarot-holic member of Aeclectic, writing reviews on important sites and swaying the opinions of the world-wide tarot acquirent, they might be persuaded! ;) *LOL*

A very very very very appreciated suggestion, Mari. Also encouraging! It means you think I could do that, and it makes me feel so flattered! *ego-boosted :D*
I'll definitely try to write more reviews now and then - I had some planned, but my PC was infected and lost them (:(), but now I am working on a couple regarding two decks not reviewd yet on Aeclectic. ;)
Thank you Mari! :* (Yes, from now on you are entitled to my kisses too! :D *LOL*)

I would not dare presume so much! I can only speak for those of us ladies who can't think of a more ideal "date" than to spend time with a good looking gentleman who is surrounded by large piles of incredible tarot decks! *LOL*

I don't know about "official friendships in the high places," but I suppose it helps when you buy a lot of their tarot decks and give them lots of free advertising on your website.
:D

As I understand it, Piero Alligo (who is the co-founder of Lo Scarabeo) is credited as being the "idea man" behind most of Lo Scarabeo's tarots. But if I've got the story right, Mr. Minetti did most of the actual concept/design work on the Fey, and he wrote the book for it. Mara Aghem is indeed the illustrator of the deck.

For what it's worth, Pollux, the Tarot Garden Library is only slowly evolving, but we would welcome reviews from you (and others) as well. For that matter, we don't particularly care what language they're written in -- we've already posted one article in both French and English versions, although having an English version wouldn't be an absolute requirement. It would simply depend on how broad an audience you'd like to reach.

Oh, I think that fits the description pretty well ;)

No, he looks too... Italian... for that. Although maybe if you add those braids -- heh, heh...

Anyway, I guess if you need more "Aragorn" before the next LOTR movie comes out, you'll just have to go back and rewatch The Matrix...
