I won a deck of unknownness on ebay for a good price and am curious as to what it is. It hasn't arrived yet but I thought I would use the picture on ebay while it is still there. Speaking of this... Does anyone know where there are instructions for how to play tarock/tarot (are those even the same game)? Or is it too complicated for that; does one need to be shown how to play? I know it needs at least 4 players...

You can try the following: http://www.pagat.com/tarot/ You will need to pick a game (scroll down) and follow the link. Or you could look for a copy of the great big Dummett book or the "Twelve Tarot Games" that was pretty much an extract from the comprehensive book. The above site has been gathering other rules to fill in the research gaps, so it is probably better. There are some good games for 2 and 3 players. I don't like any of the ones with greater than 4 players. But you aren't just limited to a foursome. If you need any suggestions or general observations, just let me know and I will try to find time to put a few thoughts down here.

Yes, I am Pict and Welsh on one side of the family. That is the side with the more magical heritage. On the other side I am Czech and Bohemian, and that is the side that practiced cartomancy and played Taroky.
