I finally opened my new I AM ONE Tarot!

And I really Love it! So here is my little critique. Each card is a picture of an oil painting. And they seem to me to be done purely from feeling, more than intellect or logic. It reminds me a little of "Tarot of the Spirit". You can look at them forever and wonder about the nuance of the meaning. A bit Dark. The figures have muted and sometimes hidden faces and strange bodies. They could be Aliens! Majors- #10 the royal maze - Master Destiny- is subtitled "The cup of wine" . #11- The Deliverer - is also titled " The cup of fire". #13- The Renewer- is " "The empty cup" . I understand it! Some of the majors have " the cup" sayings on them, others don't. #12 the hanging man Reminds me of the tower. While the tower card itself reminds more of something else, perhaps the high priestess!
Major #17, The Way-Shower, is "Master Dreamer, the cup of fluid colors". It has what appears to be an ancient city, perhaps in Persia, or maybe some fantasy place under a domed rainbow cup.
The LWB does have stuff about moses and the Egyptians..............., but then it can't really be Disproven , can it?! I Love the paintings and the titles and words. They really make me think. And many really resonate with me. It's red, it's dark, it's brooding, mysterious, and mystical. This deck is like going into a dream of the inner side of tarot. Though the pictures also do manage to convey the typical tarot meanings also. I think the deck is mainly about inner feelings, the deck is very feminine. This is all just my very first impressions, I just opened the deck and haven't done any readings with it yet.

Hi purplelady, I had similar feelings when I got mine. It is an amazing yet strange deck. I still haven't had time to break it into a reading.

I loved the deck and then found it felt like dead weight in my hands.

Most of all- I wish I knew what happened to Maya...she disk- ka- peared...

(pears pears pairs???)

Wish I could find her to say I would be in LA delivering birds and would love to see the paintings in the flesh!

i loved the deck too and now i still find it beautiful but something is holding me back from using it. like it had all that potential for warmth and creativity and my own edgy feelings made it less then it is.
hard to explain.
let's just say that i still have it but it is now back in it's box on the shelf instead of in a bag by my computer.
a small fall from grace but i have hopes i will restore my faith in it again.

I agree that the deck is lovely, but I have not been inspired to use it. I think it is the borders and all the writting that turn me off a bit. I wish it had been printed in the style of the Templar deck ... no borders and larger image. Well that is my two pearls on the deck ...

I really like the art on the IAO, but I don't think that I can use it. There are forr things I dislike about this deck. Card size(I prefer larger decks, easier to shuffle, and get to see more picture), the writing(too un-centred, too much), card feel(very greasy feeling), card smell(they stink!!).

Wow...

I never thought of smelling the cards. A whole new world of~
sensory input? I thought they all smelled like fresh packaged paper
would smell...kind of dry. I'm intrigued.

I'm a confessed deck sniffer! As I mentioned in another thread, one of the first things I do when getting a new deck is to smell it. In particular, decks from Lo Scarabeo have this unique somewhat sweet smell, which I've been told is due to the linseed oil they use in the inks to print the decks.

I'll have to give the I Am One deck a sniff tonight!

I'm half-convinced that in a previous incarnation I was a dog :D !

well, it isn't that I sniff my decks, it is ust that my IAO really smelled once I pulled it out of the box.

But, mine is autographed, so that makes up for it. Can any of you say that about yours...? })
