Yes, when can we expect to be able to buy the deck? And is there any way to find out what the price will be?

Oh, I didn't know she was a member. Is she going by Marie? Or an ID name?
At any rate, I'm hoping she's going to have it ready soon! Are you out there reading this Marie???

I don't think I have ever anticipated a deck this much. The first time I saw some of it, my jaw was on the floor, and I have not stopped salivating since.

The artist has made the death card with such peace.
Well ........ I must say I like the hierophant but I can understand why Marie might have changed is as the new version of the hierophant is more consistant with the rest of the cards.

LOVE
THIS
DECK
I hope it won't be too expensive and by the time it is out I got the cash needed. Please make it avaiable also in europe!
I used to have issue regarding the Lovers card, but i have looked at it again and I feel I MUST have the deck! *LOL*
I particularly appreciate the way she's doing the swords - so often neglected or frowned upon, my poor suit...

P.S. I want my Mary El Tarot, too! :( Also, you were right, blue_fusion...I did a WhoIs search on "mary-el.com" and the domain name expired at the end of October. Hopefully she's renewing it, or getting a different one.)

I, too, want this deck. She said it would be done by mid-next year I think, but she hasn't said anything about researching a publisher yet so it might take longer. PLUS she's having a baby soon, which will cut into her artwork, I'm sure.
Still, this is one I do want to get, whenever it comes out. Sooner is better though!

We chatted with her in live chat for awhile the other day, she has a new card up (queen of wands) thats adorable :)
Shes a collector too, likes to read with the Rider Waite deck. She said she didnt know what to do with herself after she gets this done next year, I suggested she do an animal oracle since she draws them so well and it seems she may consider it :) She talked a bit about publication in chat Llwelyn already rejected her (and she said Mary Greer had a fit about that lol) The suggested lo Scarabo, but we all dont want those gorgeous cards oh ave those awful lo scrabo borders. She doesnt want to go to US games because they keep all your original art. Shes thinking of possibly self publishing, if so we asked her to try and keep the cost down since many of her biggest fans arent made of money (like me hehe) SHe might try and resubmit to llwelyn after the deck is finished

US Games keeps ALL the originals???? Why????
Self publishing may be the way to go, it's certainly been done that way before & will continue to be around. Though that does make it harder to get decks placed in stores.
Still, this deck DOES need to go out into the public.
I agree about the lo scarabo borders, they (to put it bluntly & in French) suck.

Just consider yourself lucky, cos I was there... }) *LOL*
I had quite a lot of fun disparaging LoScarabeo and their borders and layouts - and I think we managed to put Marie off the publisher in a definitive way: we made her pick her Tarot of the Origins, and she agreed with us that her deck would not be treated the same way... ;) *LMAO*
In the animal Oracle I think that the place for tha CAT is mine.
Oh, and of course I'll be also featuring as... The Weasal! ;) *LOL*

i think us games keeps all orignals so they can do reprints whenever needed. That and the owner is a big tarot collector. I wouldnt mind them keeping the oringals myself, at least there they are safe from accidental destruction

When they discontinue the deck would the artist get their originals back?
Or are they considered 'purchased' and gone for good? I'm curious. I didn't think they'd hassle an artist like that. Even book cover artists get to keep their work.
(Ammended for spelling, the fingers don't work today)

That's a very sensuous card! I can just feel that furry little body against my bare skin! I love this deck and can't wait till it gets on the market. The artist is going to be a millionaire, potentially.

Whoo Hoo! Nekkid guy!
The trident makes it Poseidon, but the fresh water type water lilies add an Ophelia quality (she's the one who drownded offscreen in one of Shakspere's plays). Hmm. Has a sort of glaring look to him. And that sunburn on his chest (or allergy to metal maybe) is a unique touch.

I'm popping this up on the top again because I heard (from Mary no less) that she's going to be getting a limited edition out soon, and will have a posting on her site in the near future. It's not listed yet though.
I'd emailed her on something & she got back to me about how the deck is going (and I quote: I must have some small self-torment tendency, because I chose now to release a limited edition deck LOL And that has been keeping me very busy! You will probably see that come available in the next week.)
Ha! You can't keep this secret Mary!
So now ya know. Watch for it.

is it limited edition as just a few copies etc....Limited with something special...and then later coming out if a big Company picks it up..Yes We want details!

For such a drop-dead beautiful art deck, the limited release has smallish cards, only 2 3/4" X 4 5/8 inches. I know people complain about larger cards and how they are difficult to handle, but for art like this which is stunning, earth-shaking, unbelievable etc. it would be nice to have a slightly larger deck. I'd love them 3 3/4 x 5 5/8!!!
However, 22 majors and the 4 aces in a limited edition is a great idea. That's a LOT of work to make 250 decks by hand, I'm sure they'll be very special.

And also there is a review of it on this months update of Tarot Passages!!! (I've hit the big time baby!!)
Freesiaskye, thanks! The size- it never even occurred to me to make them any bigger, I just picked a size and made them, sorry about that. The images are really sharp and clear though, even though they arent huge.
Astraea, thank you!!!!

No, Spunch, your work is very different in style from Rostie's, but you are an original visionary artist and your designs are wonderful. We are all blessed in our own ways, so please don't refer to yourself as a "Photoshop tracer" -- it's what we do with any medium that counts. If Rostie didn't have innate ability, her materials wouldn't have done her much good -- and the same goes for you! :)

I had DL'd it to use with my Orphalese software and have been longing to get my hands on the actual cards since.
I think the Death card in this deck is the most stunning I have ever seen. All of the other cards that I've viewed on the site have been beautifully expressive as well.
What can I say? It's beautiful, poignant and inspired.
Love and peace,
Mysti
