There is a bit of a lead-up story to my post about this deck. I saw the discussion of The Simple Tarot here, looked at the web site and was intrigued enough to send Willie a cheque. He was so sweet as to put the deck in the mail as soon as I told him that I had mailed the cheque. So, my problem was it was coming from overseas, length of transit unknown, and I am about to move to another city. I thought, well, I could have him send the cards to my workplace, and even if it comes after I leave, they will forward the deck. Time passes. My new job is extremely hectic as to to travel, in fact I am away from home most weeks. Today I got back after a long swing through western Canada, and there is an email from the head of the mail room to "All Subscribers". They had received a parcel marked Personal and Confidential, with the full work address but no name! I had told Willie to mark it "Personal and Confidential" because if you don't mark it like that, the mail room opens it and logs it. If you do, they deliver it unopened. But, the parcel was postmarked England, and I had sent Willie the cheque to The Netherlands. So, I went to CR and asked, somewhat hesitantly, if I could see the parcel. They wouldn't show it to me at first, asked me what it was. I was reluctant to say. But eventually they let me see and it was the cards. Of course I had to tell the story to get them to let me keep it! Then, they started to tell me that they had had a string of people coming all week asking to see the parcel. I gather I was the first person they let see it (ESP??). The had found this hilarious, so I wound up telling them about my adventures in tarot. Likely ruined my rep forever.
Anyway, the cards are great. Very clever, and often quite surprising. They are printed on heavy paper and hand cut. The corners are even neatly trimmed.
The cards are all formed from the most basic designs, circles, squares, stylized cups etc, but they are often very insightful. I very much enjoyed my first pass through them. It is amazing how he suggests so much with just simple forms. The 9 of pentacles is a delight, and that's just one of many. The Lovers is clever and funny, with a stylized snake for good measure. The printed versions are not as luminous as what you see on the web site but of very high quality. I do not think you could shuffle these cards or handle them roughly, but they are charming.

OOOPS! Sorry! I should have put the name on. :) Glad you enjoy the deck though. *giggle*
Truthsayer, cashing a check from another country isn't the problem, I checked with the bank. The only problem with Marion's check is that it's made out to 'Willie Hewes', which isn't my real name. (Sorry Marion, I should have stressed that!) Anyway, I've sent it off anyway, and it might work anyway. If not, I'll be in touch Marion. ;)
So, moral of the story, I can cash checks (the bank says) but please make sure they are sent to: L. Lengers.
I'm so sorry for the confusion. :| :)
Willie - hail Eris!
