I just got the Universal Tarot by Miller as an early b'day present. I find myself alternately pleased and dismayed by the cards, which are chockful of symbolism; what do you think of the deck?

Hi, Demonesse!
I've got this and I love it although I have a hard time remembering all the symbols. Definitely a packed deck!
Hope you'll overcome your doubts once you get to grips with it.

Hrmm. Well, I think the symbolism is often accurate but overly jam-packed into some of the cards, like the hierophant, for example, though it is symbolic of learning. The High Priestess is a major disappointment! The minor arcana actually seem more interesting, especially the suit of Cups - I've never seen a goldfish jumping over the Grail before :) Favourite card would be the Three of Swords and the Eight? Nine? of Wands (the one with the staffs thrust in on top of the grave) ; that anatomically correct heart with the three swords piercing it is a pleasure to look at; can't say the same for the ugly greenish-blackish faux marble backs...on the whole, it attempts to reach deeper into culture and the pysche than your average tarot deck.
