Aquarian Deck

A friend gave me an Aquarian Deck last night. It was her first deck and she still uses it for readings. She gave it to me saying that this deck would give me very 'clear' readings. If you check out Talking Tarot, you will read how the deck was given to me in a special ceremony.

I've searched the Archives on the deck. I know that Talisman likes it and has written a review. Pollux is a fan. A lot of you have probably commented on the deck before, but I wouldn't mind a quick: What's the one thing you like/dislike about the deck? Thanks in advance,

Lawguy51

Edit: 0 responses! I see this Deck evokes very strong reactions!

Well, I guess I'll be the first to respond. :) This was my first deck. I loved it at the time, and it still really does hold a speical place in my heart. The faces of the figures are beautiful, but don't give the depth of emotion I would like now. I like they way it used traditional RW symbolism, but in a 1970's faux art deco way. lol! What a description of the style!

Quite honestly though, my tastes have changed now. I like Wiccan/pagan themed decks now that show a bit more symbolism and are much more colourful then the Aquarian deck.

Hmmm... what can I say about my work with it? It's been so long I don't remember much. Well, it was the deck I used to learn the Tarot. The book, Psychic Tarot, was a pretty good at helping me learn the deck. I remember it pointing out some symbolism of the cards, and gave longer examples to help you find your own. And it was the deck I got the best readings with. I wrote a bit about my experiences on the thread about mojo. All in all I guess I can say my work with this deck was good, but I needed to use something different so I moved on to another deck.

Ack! What an unclear message. I hope it helped you a bit.

Hello Lawguy

What a great deck to have received in the way you received yours.

I like that the images have an iconic quality, like the RWS. Because of the way they are designed they really look like symbols, not merely pictures. When I was using this deck I went very much by RWS meanings, not sure how the deck would work for more intuitive readings.

David Palladini has a style which he used in his movie posters and children's books where tiny pictures are hidden in the borders of a larger image. If you look at the Lovers card of the Aquarian there is a tiny bleeding heart plant in the lower right hand corner (Bleeding heart means giving of the self to others). I can't see this deck without wishing that Mr. Palladini had included more tiny hidden details like this.

It's just my opinion, but I have a hard time relating to the Aquarian deck. The symbols and colours don't speak to me -- I just don't feel an affinity with it. But, my tastes lean toward softer colours and more intricate imagery. I actually prefer the New Palladini deck to this one.

That being said, I think that any deck that resonates with you is the right deck for you. I've heard that if you hold a deck in your hands, and close your eyes, you'll receive "vibrations" from the deck. Once you know how you feel about this deck, you may find that you want to keep it for a particular use (spiritual development, particular types of readings, etc.).

If you love the deck, that's great. But even if you don't feel the deck is right for you at this point, you can set it aside and come back to it later. As Silverlotus said, over time, you change. Your intuition may reach a different level, and the deck may be just what you're looking for.

Either way, it's a lovely way to have received a gift. Enjoy it!

Like:
The Art Nouveau style, the colours. ;)
The serious and somewhat dismayed (LOL) espression of their faces.
The chilly but sensitive atmosphear they create around me. :)
The capricorn-like way they present themselves - sharp, clear and concise. :smoker:
Several variations of the original RW images (High Priestess, LOVERS, Star...) :D

Dislike:
The back...
Several variations of the original RW images (Magician, Chariot, Strength, Temperance...) :|

Got so little time, but I should elaborate more... maybe... }) *LOL*

lawguy51,

The Aquarian deck is one of my favorite decks. I love the feel of the lovers, the color of the feathers, the way the man is holding the woman, the tower is one of my favorite cards, looking up at the angle of the tower with the lightening striking creates quite a card.
The deck gives me a clear reading everytime.
If you want to get into the feel of the deck, it has a definite atmosphere to it. Someone had said it gives a chilly feel, and that's it exactly. For me it gives me the distance I need to make a great reading. If I'm too close to the issue it helps to distance me, I don't know how else to describe it.
I really like this deck.. It shuffles great, feels good in the hands. Recently I thought that I would purchase the New Pallidini, but I looked at the images and didn't feel the connection as with the Aquarian.
I almost want to say there forms a strong bond with anyone who takes the time to really learn, explore and read with this deck.
i would recommend it to anyone who wants a professional read. (Don't get me wrong there are lots of great decks out there for this purpose also, I'm partial right now!)

Good luck with this deck, please take the time to bond with it you won't be sorry!!
