I've just ordered the Crow's Magick tarot deck and book from Amazon (4 to 6 week wait) and wondered who else uses this deck?
I'd never noticed this deck before then a couple of days ago I had a dream about crows and this deck came to mind. The scanned images I've seen on here just about blew me away, its such a dark deck but very intense, and I had that little feeling in the pit of my stomach, last time I felt that it was the Spiral, my favourite deck, anyway before I knew it I had ordered it, even though I've only just took delivery of the Ancient Egyptian tarot - I think it may arrive just in time for Christmas.
But any opinions on this deck would be welcome :)

I've owned this deck for several months, and it is intense, for sure. Like you, I'd dreamed of crows right before purchasing it, then the next day, there were crows everywhere outside....
It's a great deck for shamanistic work, and for general spellwork-and really good with candlemagick...it is okay for general readings but the spiral might work better...

I have traded for and traded away this deck twice. Intriguing is how I would describe it. I love the crows, but all in all I could not get a good sense on what to use it for ...

I don't have this deck yet, but I have thought about getting it...just love the art work, birds in full flight just look...well magical.
I can imagine why this would be a good deck for spell work rather than reading. The colours are gorgeous too. Will certainly get this deck some time (next time Jewel trades the deck away hehehehe)

I'm really eager to get this deck in my hands lol, and I've just checked on Amazon and I might not have to wait 4 to 6 weeks, they've got a delivery date of 2 weeks. :)

I looked at this deck, and it looked intense; and I didn't even get
past the front of the box. It was bit to dark and intimidating for
me at the time. Maybe when I dream of crows I'll be ready for it.
What kind of Shamanic work do you do with this deck ?
I may be showing my ignorance.......but what can you do with a
tarot deck besides readings. I did buy a Tarot Spellbook, but I
haven't tried any of the spells yet. What else can they be used
for ?????
Thanks

Many people study their decks. Not just trying to memorize the meanings for readings but they use them as if they were a teacher's aid to understand something else like the symbology or themselves. Some people will place a card or a pattern of cards in prominant places around their house as a visual cue bring their mind back to certain concepts. It is like the power of positive thinking sayings you'll find for you to tape to the fridge. If you think about something often enough, your inner mind will actually start to believe it.
How come I never write short answers? Anyways, search for threads in the past where people list off the things they do with their decks.
I won't address the shamanic part of your question because that isn't my expertise and some shamans are very touchy about such things.

Also some decks are good for entering but I don't think I'll be able to do it with this one so it will just be for tarot and maybe study - I'm hoping the book is one of the good ones because I'm used to R/W clones so I'm really going off the beaten path with this deck :)

There's also another deck, the Shapeshifter, that's good to use for shamanistic reasons. Crow's seems to work better for me, but I suppose you could shapeshife with the R/W, since any deck has at least four elements and directions that would be necessary.
You can use the tarot in this way to do just about anything. For example, with Crow's, the salamanders can be used to conrol heat, the crows to stimulate intellectual ability, the tigers to gain physical strength, and so on. Meditate, focus, induce trances, call animal spirits, receiving advice, and healing...the list goes on and on if you want to use these cards.

I'm still waiting for the deck to come from Amazon but the book came this morning, I wasn't going to open the package until I had both in my hands but I couldn't stop myself - now I've seen all the cards from the deck and I'm not disappointed, I'm really looking forward to seeing them all properly.
If you have the Crow's Magick tarot the book is a good companion for the deck, explains the cards well enough - while still slightly R/W.
I can't wait for this deck to come :)

It was the first deck I purchased for myself. (Second that I owned) At first I loved it, to peices even. Made special case for it and I have yet to put as much love into the case for any of my other decks. However, as I purchesed more decks, and worked with them and my first more, I realized that while I loved the deck, after the initial first few weeks I was completely unable to use it. I haven't even pulled it out in nearly a year.
I tried to trade it away, but it didn't happen and now I know that I just can't do it.
I say use it as soon as you get it, as much as you can. If you can form a bond with the imagery that will stick it will be pleasant deck. If not, don't look forward to using it in general reading, but as it was mentioned before, you may be able to find another purpose for it.
One of the spare cards that come along is still my favorite book mark. (I get comments and oohs and aaahs on it all the time)
Good luck with this deck, and let us know what YOU think when you get it. And how you think you can use it.

My Crow's Magick tarot came :)
Saying there isn't much to go on with just looking at the cards, not as busy are the Spiral, they are very easy to use - The card stock is good, they shuffle well, Justice and Strength have changed positons with each other but I'm not finding that a problem. They also have key words on each card which sort of makes you look at whats happening on the cards themselves.
The cards are beautiul too look at, very modern feeling with bold shapes, figures and colours, many featuring animals or human/animal figures.
I thought it might be hard for me to start using this kind of deck after R/W clones, especially my Spiral, but so far it hasn't been.
I am very impressed with this deck, I feel like I've had it for ages instead of just a couple of days.
Can't wait to really get into it, oh the books ok too :)

Amazon.com has a good price on the deck alone. The deck and book set are only available as a special order at full price. Is the book essential to appreciating this deck? Is there a lwb that comes with the deck alone that covers the important bits?
And, Emily, now that you've had it a while what do you think of it?
Thank you all in advance for any info.

Hi Woof,
The deck does come with a good LWB but I had the book to go with it because I like to read the stories behind the cards. I should have had the book and deck together but the book came first then the deck so I'd seen all the cards before the deck came.
Its an easy deck to read with, very intense and colourful - a complete change from the R/W clones I usually go for. It is fast becoming my second favourite deck, my first being the Spiral lol, the key words come in handy too just to give the memory a jog. Its also a 'feel good' deck, sometimes I just shuffle with no question and take the cards off the top and that is always interesting :)
I knew I would get on good with this deck when I first saw a couple of scans of it, this is the only deck I have that I like every single card. :)

i've been using the crows magick tarot for six years for readings and also for meditation. of course, every reader has his or her own method, but i just find this deck to speak to me clearly. it's a dark deck, that's undeniable, but whenever i use it, my questioners get shocked at the accuracy of my readings.
just ignore the keywords printed on each card (like 10 of cups, they printed the words Blend, Meld.....what?)
it's by no means a beginners deck, but i guess you already know that.
i guess the reason why this deck is so effective for me is because the images really give you more...i mean, it makes you visualize more and if you just let your intuition work, your visions will be clearer.
hope this helps.

darn you aeclectic people trying to make me into a collector! :*
i just looked at over 100 decks to find the new one i wanted. i went with the new Quest deck but my second choice was the Magickal Crow. i have it at the top of my list.
i don't know about other locations, but here in Indiana we are having a resurgance of crow populations. simply masses of them in places. surely there must be a message there somewhere.
i never leave the house without seeing them now.
love and blessings,

It is still an amazing reading deck but I've found it very hard work especially since I'm used to the Rider Waite and clone decks, I'm tending to use this deck next to my others, the Universal Waite and the Rohrig, and compare the cards - it does give good readings but its very different from my other decks, I think that was why I was attracted to it. I still dream about crows and see many of them too lol :) but I don't think its time for me to switch to this deck as my main reading deck just yet. (The Rohrig has got me under its spell still ) :D

Well it has been some time since anyone mentioned this deck at AT. And I am just curious...Emily have you used this deck a lot ? Have you found the book a good help ? I am considering buying this deck - I was once going to and then could not because I was travelling and when I got back there were just so many other decks to get first - well you know how life of a taroholic is ;)
I always like to get the book with the deck gives me such a feeling of luxury *LOL* but I wonder if you think the book is really useful ? (desperate attempt to get economical... ;))
Or anyone else comments on this deck ?

I also own the deck for about 2 years now...the pics are captivating...awesome for a Birdlover *smile...but anyhow, in spite of feeling a deep connection with all those animals, I have never really used the deck for a reading.
I am glad, I was able to order the book now and hope to get some more insight into the meanings of each card.
Anyhow I wouldn't trade away this deck...dunno...

Hi Wolfspirit! when i look at decks i think of their style in astrological terms and when i got this deck i 'knew' it was an aquarian deck. so when i read the interview with the author of this deck here at aec, i was able to kinda calculate her b-day and i believe she had pisces with an aquarian venus. i have an aquarius moon and i think i saw that you do also on an astro thread, so i think if your taste is like the style of your moon i think you would love this deck as i do. i didnt get the book and i regret that after reading the interview with the author as she seems very intuitive and since the deck is different i would have liked to hear her take on the cards. but i think amazon has a good price on the deck/book combo-so let me know if i have to try to seek out the book! if you havent read that interview her story is interesting!

scorpio, can you tell me where I can find that interview ? I think I saw at mentioned somewhere but I really can't remember, must be too hot here to think ;)
Amazon.co.uk seems to sell the book separately as well, but if you can make a good deal on the set that may work out just as well.
I think I will see how I connect with the deck, though I love the artwork I may not feel like reading with it straight away so I'm not sure if I want the book or not.

WolfSpirit, this is probably the long way to the interview, but here on aeclectic click on search by keyword and type in londa, and about the 3 or 4th thread is phoenix's titled "two new interviews up" and click on londa.

Interesting to see she was so interested in native american culture, I did not really see that in the deck. Maybe I'll look for these influences now.

Hi Wolfspirit,
Just seen this posting - When I first had the Crow's Magick, I did think it was easy to read with, but it is really a hard deck to get into. The colours are mainly black, red, gold, geometric shapes, some pastels, animals and human figures, - it was the colours of the deck that attracted me, the scans were vibrant, as is the deck. Sometimes I can pick it up and the reading comes easy other times I can try to do a reading with it and I get nothing.
I was getting on good with it, then I had problems with my other reading deck the Spiralso then I got side tracked again by the Universal Waite and Thoth so the Crow's Magick sort of got put on the back burner for a while.
I had the book and deck seperate because I was worried about not getting a box for the deck, I've got box sets before and you don't get the boxes for the deck so I usually order books and decks seperate now if I can. :)

I just won this deck on ebay - meaning I got it a little cheaper than in the regular shops - and they are shipping it today ! So I can have it in my hands soon. I have seen all the scans on-line, but that is not the same thing.
I will let you know how we get along.

It is a stunning deck WolfSpirit, I'd looked at all the scans of it I could find and they still didn't do the deck justice. The blackness of the cards just makes the other colours and figures stand out even more.
I kept it out after the other night and have started working with it again, it reminds me now of the Thoth but with Rider Waite mixed in with it lol

Yahoo, I got the deck today ! I like black and I like bright colours, so I like the way it looks. Love that 8 of pentacles with the pile of tarot books. And the colours of the wands are very nice. Some cards speak to me straight away, others take a little "getting into". Very special artwork, very original. Now see if I can really connect with it.

I am so happy, I eventually received the accompanying Crow's magick-book today!! I am really asking myself why I did not "hunt" for it before...all the pics are described thouroughly and also lots of divinatory stuff is provided, which makes reading the cards much easier (at least IMHO). I can only recommend it in addition to the deck!!

falconwing, do you know how much the shipping costs are if you order from learntarot.com ?
Is it shipped from US ? I always thought that, don't know why really, maybe because so many decks come from US.
Thanks for your pm by the way :) I put this question here because it may be of interest for other crow-fans.

Hi Wolfspirit,
Joan from learntarot is really a kind one...she charged me the "flat-rate-envelope" that is 9 $ but offered me to put more things inside, without increasing the postage-fee...so I ended up with 3 decks and two books *grin...the package took about 10 days to get here though because of the custom-thingy....*aargghh (but Joan marked the items as "gifts" so I did not need to pay any additional custom's declaration-fee or something...)
Good luck!!
