As Christmas is approaching I'm assuming most of us are asking for tarot cards on our Christmas wish list. I was told I might only get a couple and am unsure of which decks I should place at the top of my list. My list is in no particular order: Sacred Circle Shapeshifter Fairy Ring Oracle Mythic Medieval Scapini Wheel of Change Tarot of the Old Path I was wondering what some of your Christmas deck wishlists are and if you would make any suggestions as to which of these may be the best on my list. Here's my Christmas/Yule list, though I haven't come out of the taqrot closet to my folks, so I most likely will have to buy for myself. *lol* Osho Zen Buckland Romani Fairy Ring Oracle Tarot of the Saints Fradella Adventure Moon Oracle Songs for the Journey Home Ancestral Path I'm sure I'll think of more. Heehee. As for your list, the Sacred Circle is an absolutely gorgeous deck. The majors are particularly compelling, though a lot of people have trouble reading the minors, which are basically pips (though they are sort of "moody minors"). I am one of the people who have trouble with this deck, but to my great surprise, I've been reading a lot with it. With good results too! I guess it's true that those little irritations push you on to greater things. Or something like that. I've also been drooling over the Fairy Ring Oracle for a long time now. Most of the people who have it have been giving rave reviews. You should check out the one on Aeclectic and also other opinions in the Divination Forum. :) Kes

Momof3girls: I would hesitate to recommend decks because what may appeal to me may not work for ye. Of those decks, I am familiiar with only the Mythic. Even if one is not familar with the Greek mythology theme, the book which was written for it is excellent! It gives the background of each card. The deck & book set also includes a black spreadcloth. That said, I can find something to like about every deck on your list! The Fairy Ring Oracle has a vibrancy that I like & it is also on my wish list. My wish list: Thoth (with the 3 Magus cards) Fairy Ring Oracle Tarot de Paris. Thanks for this topic--it should produce some interesting answers.

I dont hacve anyone to request decks of, so the onyl one I know Im getting is Miss Cleos Tarot Power set from my mom (with the book and video ooooh ahhhhh) lol, Pollux gave me Gill and Arcus Arcanum, which have been sitting at the post office since saturday, never got to get them yet. Ill probably buy myself a deck or 2 in January for a present, likely to be one or more of these Templar Fey Tarot de Paris :THP

Well, my early Christmas present to me is the Victoria Regina which is currently winging its way to me from Amazon. The only two that I MUST HAVE NOW!!! are Retrokat's Golden Tarot.... gotta wait until Spring 2003 for that (Easter pressie?) and The Dorothy Simpson Krause Tarot ... and I'm never gonna get it coz it s unpublished - boo hoo hoo, s'not fair. I do not have the Wheel of Change, that is a deck I have also been eyeing for a while. Ordered it once from Amazon and all I got was book :( ... as for the others: Sacred Circle - Pagan feel, renaming in the majors, although providing a little "mood" the minors are basically unillustrated pips. Personally I love the deck. Shapeshifter - has 84 cards, 24 majors (I think). Absolutly beautiful. I guess I have shyed away from using it because of the additional majors. But I do plan to give it a chance ... like I said the art is lovely. Fairy Ring Oracle - I love this deck. It is very blunt and honest. Since you have experience working the faeries from Froud's Oracle I think you will find this deck to be 100% different, but will be able to see the fairies not as good or bad but simply as part of all. If you like VERY direct readings this deck is a gem. It is beautiful too IMHO. Mythic - based on Greek Mythology. Good solid deck. Medieval Scapini - Another deck I like a lot. The minors are what I call "moody" minors, they are not fully illustrated but pretty close to being so. Personally I like Scapini decks, he seems to do his research. Tarot of the Old Path - I LOVE this deck. It is definelty a pagan deck. The majors are beautiful and the renaming of some cards makes perfect sense. The minors are not as pretty as the majors but all I can say is that I absolutly love this deck. Although the Cosmic Tribe is my primary deck there are times I still pull Tarot of the Old Path and my Robin Wood Tarot out. I hope this was of help to you. As for me ... well I think I would like the Era of Acquarius deck for Yule this year.

Momof: I would vote for the Shapeshifter, the artwork is beautiful and the book that comes with the deck is also very good. I love to use this deck for readings with a spiritual angle. For my own wish list: I am impatiently waiting for the Steele Wizard to be published. I saw the thread (and didn't even read the whole thing.....) and wanted to post.... victoria regina, ancient egyptian, tarot de paris, dragon, celtic dragon, and definitly the shapeshifter!! anyway....... these seem to be popular!! to b published: tarot of the 4 worlds (by ravenswing + Laurel, if ya wanna look, they're awesome) happy holidays....... for those in the US: I can't believe that thanksgiving is tomorrow, and to everybody: hasn't the year gone by fast??? it seems like yesterday that my parents were throwing champagne across the room at the tv on new years...... wow.... :)

I dont celebrate xmas..but my birthday is Dec 17th..haha so i will do a list for that..for which i am only getting the myriorama deck if my sister stops being mad at me..Nobody gives gifts in my family lol..but if they did..this would be my wish list. The only deck on my wish list is the Druid Animal Oracle. And if I really want it , I will have to buy it my self. I am not as lucky as most people to have friends or family willing to puchase something like that. I am rather short on funds right now so it will have to stay on my wish list for a while. Blessings! Although not illustrated like the RWS, they are illustrated in a way that is readable and not dependent on numerology. The color scheme, and design of the cards give a mood of the overall meaning of the card. Like you I traditionally prefer illustrated minors, but I have found the Cosmic Tribe to be very easy to read and it became my primary deck since the day I got it (10 months ago).

the only deck that comes to mind immediately is the new transformational deck that's either to be published soon or recently published. i have received so many nice decks in the past year that i will be satisfied by whatever decks (if any) the universe drops in my lap this xmas. oh, yeah! i forgot about the amber, artist inner vision and illuminated. those would be nice to have stuffed in a stocking under the tree! but i won't be greedy. })

No body has bid on it yet. There are 4 days left. Seller wants "CASH" or direct deposit to belgian account. Other curious note is it is a "full deck of 72 cards". I'm not too fond of auctions where the seller won't take cashier's cheque or traveler's cheques which can be traced. You're welcome to try for it. I won't.

My Yule wishlist is mostly books. I recently got the Stone tarot and along with my World Spirit and Gill I seem to have a very good working trio and I don`t feel as if I need any more tarot decks at the moment. All the posts about the Faeries Oracle has made me feel as if I really need this deck though and so that`s the only deck on my list. If I get any cash I just know that my resolve will cave in and I`ll just have to go and get the Cosmic Tribe (oh well!) Love and light Crystalmynx xx

I have to encourage you to get these :P Tarotlady ... make sure and go to Stevee Postman's website and look through all the cards to make sure they appeal to you. The CT is my favorite tarot working deck, but as has been mentioned in previous threads it is not a deck for everyone. In my opinion the images are much better in person than online, but if you like the ones online you will love them in person. Nudity is a design element in this deck, it is not erotic or sexual. Just thought I would share this as you mentioned that you were thinking of getting it based on someone else wanting you to have it and not necessarily because you are personally drawn to it. I ordered mine as a novelty (1st deck to have 3 lovers cards), but what a pleasant surprise it was when I opened it. It has turned out to be THE perfect deck for me. If you are attracted to it do get it!

Regarding Tarot decks on one's Christmas list... I think there's a very good possibility that I might be getting a Tarot deck for Christmas this year. I have a pocket notebook which I carry most of the time. I had a page with about 15 decks listed on it which I was interested in. Tonight I noticed that that page is missing from my notebook! :D I had 2 decks underlined... the Victoria Regina Tarot and the Goddess Tarot... wish me luck! ;)

I ordered the Vision Quest deck from Isis online. And I will be purchasing the Medicine Woman deck when I go upstate. Hubby doesn't know it yet, but these are going to count as part of his Christmas present to me. Isis books online has many of the decks we've been talking about.
