New tarots from Alidastore...yeah for new toys.
Slight glitch. I'm going to have go home to look at the new Gaudanzi 2002 Durer Tarot because starting from the Fool, there's some, er.... bawdy glimpses that isn't for the average family crowd. I'd done some research on art of the time of Durer and Pontarmo (a Florentine painter who delighted in Durer style images) and cannot say it's 'unlike' some of the art of the time.
It was supposed to be an art study deck for me---just kinda sad
that it isn't an art deck to show young nephews fine art. At first glance, the animal and person touch of the art will be interesting. But it's not my public reading tarot and yes, it is very different to the old style majors done in the 22-trumps edition released earlier by Gaudanzi, from a different publisher than Lo Scarabeo
On the other hand, the pictures in Tarot of the Journey of the Orient is a wonderful blend of Old Asia and eclectic Western archetypes. In terms of wording we don't now say Oriental to our American Chinese-Japanese kids, but we understand the old-fashioned term as an art style.
Just a short glimpse...I'll have time later. But if you guys are getting new tarots and interested in East-West blends....well, I'm from an aeclectic Asian family and married into an European American culture...so I want to explore the Journey to the Orient VERY much.
