Just got PoMo

I visited my Friendly Neighborhood Half Price Books today and found the PoMo Tarot (box set, cards and book) in excellent condition (the spine on the book wasn't even broken yet) for $14.95. Jealous? I really like it, but I'm so new to Tarot, it'll take some work before I can easily read with it. Still, it's funny and clever and I feel like quite the bargain-hunter.

Way to go little! What a great deal! I am interested in reading your impressions of the deck as you begin learning it. Also, what other decks do you have?

My first impressions are that the art is pretty crude, but the symbolism is often intriguing and downright funny. He's changed the meanings of some of the cards, or else they are being explained in some way so subtle that I can't see the meanings I know in the cards or his explanations of them, so if I want to use this deck, I'll have to learn his explanations, too. I tried a few spreads, and couldn't get anything comprehensible. I may put them on a shelf until I'm in the mood to tackle them. Other decks? I'm a rank novice. I started with the Mythic, then got the Victoria Regina. Yesterday while I was shopping I picked up the PoMo and the Universal Waite. And that's it. I really like the Victoria Regina- it just feels good in my hands- but I think I'm going to like the Waite as well.

I think the PoMo is out of print (oop) and farely rare. If there is another one at your 1/2 price, you may serious consider seeing if anyone wants to trade for it. Welcome to Aeclectic. You have a good set of decks to start with. If you don't get any more, there is nothing wrong with you. If you do... Bawahahahah. welcome to the tarotholics support group. })

Hi, I recently got the PoMo too. I really enjoyed the LBW and the stories behind the images on the cards. I think it will require a fair bit of study to read with them as the meanings for most of the minors seem to be very different to the meanings that I use. I really like Brian's take on the court cards though, very interesing. Cheers Kath

i really like my POMO. it has a great sense of humor. $14.95 is an excellent price for this OOP deck. something to keep in mind is that the deck's creator(brian williams) died this past spring which may increase the value of the deck. so i would not recommend trading this one. it's a keeper even if it's not highly readable. as to readable decks, i think the mythic is good for learning. is the universal waite the one by mary hanson roberts? if so, good job! great learner's deck. the victoria regina is gorgeous. once you get the basics down i feel like this one will eventually speak to you. nice collector's deck and source of history both written and artistic. don't let any bumps on the road to learning tarot get you discouraged. tarot is a life long journey not a destination. have fun!
