I finally found the Renaissance deck in a local shop (the Bruce Williams one) and I was so excited because I've been looking for it for a while.
The colors and images of the Majors are gorgeous- but the images of the Minors- they are bland! Even linked with Greek mythology, I still find the Minors on the blah side even though the colors are still nice.
I will probably keep this deck in my collection but I sure wish the Minors lived up to the Major Arcana. I *almost* regret getting it (but not quite! lol) I'm hoping that a little use might warm me up to this deck.
Just me sharing a bit o'disappointment after a long search. I'll try a few reads with it & see how it goes.

Brian Williams ... it is a beautiful deck. Have not personally worked with my copy, but it fits nicely within the collection. Hope you can warm up to it.

I use this once in awhile to compare light-colored decks or those with delicate engravings. Tom Tadforlittle posted that he viewed it as if for 'daylight' perspectives...I was thinking if I ever obtain the William Blake, it might give a good reflective backdrop.
Of the modern Greco-Roman decks that I have (Sharman-Burke Mythic, Folchi's Mithological, Lo Scarabeo's Olympus & Etruscan), this is the lightest. But it was my first Renaissance and Mythologically themed decks and over time it assisted me look up or explore related ideas to tarot history.
Best wishes,
Mari H.

You could always separate the minors & only use the deck for a 'major's only' reading. That way you use the cards that do talk to you & set the others aside. Many spreads focus on using majors so it hopefully won't be too bad an adjustment.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I was just posting an initial reaction to a long-awaited deck. I still like the coloring of the deck very much and after my initial 'hmmm' reaction, I do like the deck better. The rich hues are helping to make up for any lack. I was just taken aback with the lack of illustrations on the Minors- what happened to the Cups??? Still, some decks don't illustrate the Minors at all, so I guess this deck semi- falls into this category.
