This article is superb:

What a talented artist. This was the first site using the google search engine keywords "Pamela Colman Smith watercolors". I'm certain that other links and searches will yield treasures.

I'm lingering over the beauty of her line art.

What an excellent story!

I've learned something today, thanx Mari

I hope, after reading about Pamela, that no one thinks their work will go unappreciated. You just never know who it might affect, and in what way.

i think anyone who doesn't like the art of pamela colman smith should read about her and how she came to do the rws. it's also interesting to look at her other artistic pieces. her art is similar to other art of that day. the colors tend to look muted--almost muddied. perhaps that has to do with the quality of paint available for use. today paint is much brighter. when i have time i'll try to come up with some other art pieces of the time to show what i'm saying. one famous piece is of the guardian angel standing by a bridge as 2 children cross. no one has to like the deck but i feel better towards the deck b/c i feel such compassion for her life. she tried so hard to make it as an artist and never gave up even tho she died in poverty. i really wish she had lived to see the enormous world wide popularity of her deck today. she had an unusual life. my gut feeling is that ae waite took advantage of her so she was never credited for her work until recent years.

perhaps as an artist, i relate to her struggles and empathize. wish i could tell her.

Thanks Mari for sharing the story. I've learned alot today. Its a pity that the artist didn't make a fortune for all her work.

too bad we can't have sylvia browne or john edward dispatch a message to the other side to pixie smith. i'd like to hear her response.

Thank you for posting this wonderful info,
it's great to get a broader view of her work. I knew she was brilliant, but hadn't considered her work byond the deck.
