I'm not quite sure if I'm putting this in the right section, so apologies if not. However I see that there is another Tarot in progress here, so hope it's okay.
www.baba-prague.com/tarot
We have been working on this pack for some months. We're professional designers rather than professional tarot experts, but we've spent the time also reading and learning as much as possible - and doing readings to get more experience and "feel" for what works.
Any comments are very welcome. The pack mostly follows Rider Waite Smith but we have put our own interpretation on the traditional images - in some cases this means we've departed quite far from the familiar.
All the imagery is based on Prague, the city where we live and work. It's so full of amazing symbols and has such a strong historical reputation as the "Magic City" that it just seemed time someone did a tarot that pays homage. We're hugely enjoying doing the work - hope you enjoy the cards.
The final pack should be out in early 2003.
Thanks again
Karen Mahony (baba studio)
ps - I will also try to upload some images, but not sure how to do this, meantime please see the website.

Hi Karen, welcome to Aeclectic! :)
I really like your deck, especially how each card contains a combination of media, i.e. photographs, drawings, etc. It looks like a fascinating deck, and I think a lot of people here will be excited about it. I hope you keep us informed about its availability.

My daughter's Godmother went to school in Prague and I always thought it to be a beautiful place and culture.
I love the work so far! I an a fan of collaged media and I really like the way your cards are put together.
Good Luck, hope to get it published.

Many thanks for the positive comments. Please do feel free to give any feedback, as in some cases we have made significant changes to Rider Waite Smith. For example, we've been asked about the Knight of Swords not being on horseback (in fact there is a knight on horseback on the gate in the background of the card, but hard to see at small size on screen) and the same person also asked about the "gate" in this card - which got me reading and thinking about Rachel Pollack's ideas of "gate cards", which has turned out to be very helpful. So - any thoughts you have would be much appreciated.
We will soon (I'm working on it!) have some explanations about why we've used particular images and symbols on particular cards. I hope this will be interesting, particularly to those who have visited, or may visit, Prague. By the way, we will give a donation to the Prague flood recovery fund for each pack sold. We are still working out final selling price and how much this donation should be, but hopefully it will raise a decent amount (we'll put on details of sales price and this donation on to the site once we have really worked out our final printing costs).
The pack should be published in early 2003 (we were aiming for late this year, but it would have meant rushing some of the designs). We are working with the best printer here in Prague - a company that specialises in art books, so the print quality will be very high. That's important to us, as we feel this style of card will need to be printed well so that the detail and the colour really shows.
If it's okayed by the forum moderator I'll upload a couple of new cards at a larger size - we kept them fairly small on the site so that they don't take ages to appear.
Many thanks again. It really is helpful to get this feedback.

Hi, Karen, feel free to upload cards, but the forum is a little restrictive when it comes to uploads. It only allows you to upload one file per post, and that file has to be under a certain number of bytes. You may find it easier to provide links to images on your site.

Hmmm. The second deck that's been advertised on Aeclectic recently that I find highly palatable. I'd be curious to see your 9 and 10 of Swords. I'm kind of like Zander - very hard to please (although I bet I'm harder to please than Zander :P )
Very nice indeed.
I like the European touch.
Makes me want to come to Prague for Christmas. :)

As an artist who is creating his own Tarot deck in the same visual medium as you (photo illustration), I can actually confess I feel a little bit of envy, along with a lot of admiration, for the visual and symbolic gorgeousness of your deck.
Keep up the beautiful work.
