Have a look at Thirteen's Tarot Basics. In terms of the Waite/Colman-Smith deck, these are good and solid comments.

Hi TOO COOL, Welcome, and yes this is weird, I have the rider waite and it didn't come with a book, so I am curious about it.
Cheers

Hi!
And welcome to the forum. When it comes to RW-meanings I've found Joan Bunning's site useful: http://www.learntarot.com - you might want to check it out!
See ya around!
Light and love,
Jenny :)

I am with Jenny-li!!
Joan Bunning's site & course is the best you could find online to get started with the Rider-Waite. It's entirely Rider-Waite-Smith based and got tons and tons of keywords and meanings.
Also check this new one - forums + email course
http://lotustarot.com/index.php
You can register for the email course, and a new one starts every two week more or less. You will receive the lessons, and be enabled to take part into online stuff and activity.
As for Thirteen basic...
WHY HAVEN'T YOU BEEN THERE ALREADY???
*LOL* :D
They are free, wondrous, enligthening, awesome, poetic, original, stimulating, provoking...
