I've had a LOVELY holiday season! Boy are my spirits still high! My baby's first Christmas and Tarot Decks! What a combination huh?!? :)
The Cary-Yale Visconti I received from my good ol' generous Dad! I pulled a -Veruca Salt- on him by saying "If you REALLY love me, you'll get it for me!" (all with a silly tone of course!) I love the worn look of this deck, and the fact that it has both male and female knights and pages! Its definately a deck that feels like and looks like something truly special to pass down to my children.
Tarot of the Trance and the Golden Tarot of the Tsar I received from my awesome hubby (along with the 6-CD set of John Edward's Developing your own Psychic Powers)! Tarot of the Trance is a very unique wild looking deck I must say, which of course is the reason why I like it! The colors and artwork pull out alot of thoughts from in the mind and I love the deck's "Imagination" to ponder about for each Major Aracana card. Golden Tarot of the Tsar is just so dang cool. That one will surely become one of the main decks I use. I would think that deck would cost way more than what it does (but I'm not complaining!). It is such a lovely deck, I can easily "enter" it. Okay, so I ALSO got the pink verson of Winnie the Pooh playing cards (hahaha), which I asked for specifically for divination purposes (this should be very interesting!).
The LOVELY, talented, and generous Tarotphelia sent me the Universal Waite (Thanks a million!). I have always wanted one of the Waites for my collection, now I have it! She also sent me a neat Stonehenge playing deck in one of her "you should have your own store selling these beautiful things!" suede bags she sews, with a large stonehenge stamp on the front. I will be using these cards for divination also!
All the presents that I received made my day but the ones that turned out to be tarot decks REALLY made my day!

Wow, it sounds like you had a wonderful holiday!
I have all of those decks too and I have to admit that while I haven't used Tarot of the Trance yet something about it calls to me. Golden Tarot of the Tsar is gorgeous (I love those gold foil decks).
And I really like comparing the Cary-Yale to the Pierpont Morgan Visconti. I especially like that Cary-Yale has male and female pages and knights. Quite an interesting twist.
I hope you enjoy all your new booty ;-D

Wow I got a response! Thankyou brennamor!!
I haven't had the time to really work with these decks yet (hopefully soon though!) Its so good to hear you like these decks. I would love to hear how the Tarot of the Trance works out for you when you get the chance! You can PM me if ya want.
Yes the Golden Tarot of the Tsar IS gorgeous, the deck feels so special when held. The whole color scheme of that deck is very soothing... Geez I love that deck.

Hi Faerie Lin,
I'll keep you posted as I work more with Tarot of the Trance. I like to pair my decks up (I have almost 200 decks and two residences so I split custody ;-D). I've paird that one up with Australian Contemporary Dreamtime Tarot. They both have a similar feel to them - they remind me of a lava lamp for some reason.
A friend fell in love with Tarot of the Trance when she spotted it at the bookstore. It definitely has a learning curse but I think it's worth it.
Golden Tsar is gorgeous. Whenever I hold one of the cards I get the feeling I'm holding a religious icon. I also have Russian Tarot of St. Petersburg and Egorov - both lovely decks too.
BTW if you are interested in Visconti type decks you might want to consider picking up a copy of the new Visconti Gold deck/book set. The book is wonderful and full of interesting facts about the Visconti deck - not specifically the images on the Visconti Gold. I had the chance to meet Giordano Berti (who wrote the book) at the Chicago ITS conference and he really knows his stuff.
