I have seriously thought about creating a Gustav Dore oracle deck for personal use. I think his work is some of the most somber and evocative art I have ever encountered and best of all, own copies of both his "Paradise Lost" and "Bible Illustrations" printed back in the 1850s and will be aquiring two more Dore 19th century art books in February so making such a deck would be well within my power next year.

Laurel, if you do get to a Dore deck, maybe you could do the Dante deck that I have yearned for the longest time...
I'm taking the specialized focus for Inferno and Purgatory this winter after taking my review of Paradiso...and I think Dore was my first picture collection...it's available also through Dover books.
I'm still working through concepts introduced by the Lo Scarabeo Dante deck and my Paradiso class and have run back to my New Life pre-Divine Comedy translations...and still sigh over Dore. He's much more detailed than Botticelli's etheral drawings, Dore has something vividly strong...
So come to think of it, Dante in Black and White would be very cool...maybe in a collab...

have you ever seen the art from rauschenberg about the divina commedia from dante?! very good...i follow art lessons on the university here and we have seen this...it's modern but very intense, a nice different look at the divina commedia from the perspective of dante mixed with ours, you really have to search this up if you are so interested in it!!! btw rauschenberg is very important artist from the fifties/sixties...

Rauschenburg was indeed a masterful artist and his style is as relevant today as it was fifty years ago. In fact, he was the reason for how my style eventually evolved at college. Find a piece called 'the bicycle' (I think). A tutor of mine saw which way my work was going, and recommended I check him out. So I pass that on to you all, check him out!
