I thought I'd start a list so everyone could list if they got some new decks for Christmas. I got Shapeshifter, Fairy Ring Oracle and Mythic Tarot from my husband. It suprises me how he doesn't mind buying me decks even though he isn't into this stuff at all. He was telling me a funny story yesterday; a young lady salesclerk came into his office and asked him what he had bought his wife for Christmas. He said, "I have them right here if you want to take a look". He showed her the 3 tarot boxes and he said she jumped back about 5 feet and said those were EVIL...lol. He asked her if she was one of those religious freaks and she said "so what if I am". End of story. Had to share it though, it still amazes me how stereotypical some people are!

Yeah, I know; people think there is such evil in the world, but I have come to realize that they are people who think all the power in the world lies somewhere other than inside themselves. God is this being that lives above us and moves us around like puppets. Tarot readers, I believe, realize that the power is inside us and the tarot is just a tool to bring that out.
Anyway, my tarot present was to myself. I ordered the Portal Tarot. Won't get it until mid-January, but it's worth the wait! By the way, I love the Fairy Ring Oracle. It is a great complement to my Faerie Oracle cards.
Peace!

Dragon (no book)

I love the art on both of them!! they feel "right" (I don't know any other way to put it) in my hands too.

My daughter-in-law got me The Art of Tarot book/deck set for Christmas. For myself, I got the Book called Meditation on Tarot: A Journey into Christian Hermeticism. I'm having to read it with a dictionary at my side. And I'm getting Shapeshifter, Tarot of Northern Shadows and Tarot of the Old Path from the trade forum here.
My best Christmas surprise was the tarot set from my daughter in law. Her husband (my son) is one of the people who thinks that sort of thing is evil. My youngest son's wife even had me do a reading for her at the Christmas eve gathering where I got the deck, so that was wonderful too. Now I'm "out of the closet." LOL

It is worth it! Did we twist your arm enough in the other thread to get the BIG cards? I have the regular size deck but I have the Temperance card in the large size, which is beautiful and my favourite card in this deck.
They have Portal bookmarks available now too which are quite striking. You know, to go with all the books we got for Christmas. ;-)
How exciting, I love to hear what people received, it's so nice to have one time of year where you feel you can buy yourself something more expensive, something of collector's quality.

~feels the pinch from the arm-twisting~ OUCH ;) Yes, you did twist it enough for the large cards, and so did the company, by offering a holiday special for $100, which, in addition to all the other goodies, offered a free bookmark. I got the Temperance bookmark :D. I was really debating between this and the Fractal Firebird, and I had not gotten a Majors Only deck before, but heck, this is so wonderful and evocative, and I will be using it for meditation, so it is my chance to get more deeply in tune with the majors.
Peace!

Yeo I got my Miss Cleo Tarot Power Set, with the video and the book from my mom, actually that was a birthday gift, but for Christmas I was surprised to find a Goddess Tarot rammed into my Tarot Box that contained over 70 gifts (tarot pouches, stones, candles, jewelry, incense, other trinket boxes, all kinds of wonderful magickal things) Got to love the mother who recently discovered she was Wiccan ;) Im not sure if Im going to keep the Goddess Tarot yet, I have to look through it. Oh and there were lots of scarves for deck wrapping in there too, one actually silk. I also gota knew Psychic Circle (like a Ouija Board but way better) and a Ouija Board keychain that Id been wanted for a long time but it was hard to find. Next month I have to go order a keychain universal waite to go with it :)

Sure did! (Made a post about my thoughts on the deck already). The decks I received: Universal Waite, Golden Tarot of the Tsar, Tarot of the Trance, and Cary-Yale Visconti.
Liliana when you get a chance, tell us how this Cleo kit you have is. I think its neat to have some "memorabilia" :) of someone who caused so much talk! Cool mom you have!

i got three, and all from friends i only met on-line.
one from the sweet jenny-li the Glastonbury tarot and it is lovely!! i didn't like it the first time i saw it online but as time went on my taste changed and finally i had it on my top 60 list and then on the top 10. it slowly crept all the way to the top and now when i got it i love it!
then two other friends sent me decks too. the Victoria Regina (i just finished reading the book for that one and will do a new deck spread tomorrow)
and the Roots of Asia that i haven't had time to look at yet but from the little i have seen it is a beautiful deck!
i am very fortunate to have such great friends and hope to some day be able to pass on their generous spirit to others.

No Im serious the Miss Cleo decks were only out about a month before the crud hit the fan and they were pulled off the Walgreens shelves, they were selling cheap on ebay, may still be for all I know. Looked through the deck, its pretty ugly but it'd be readable, someone into Egyptian things may actually like it. It looks a lot like an egyptian Rider Waite in coloring and design, except the faces are really bad. My VCR is broken so i havent watched the tape, Ill have to go watch it at my moms sometime. I hear it describes her four doors spread in detail, thats what i want to see. The LWB has pretty bad meanings sometimeas, like lovers being only about love (only choice it mentions is a choice between lovers) and of course it has 2 whole cards advertyising the network, leave em in during readings to discover if theres some shady dealing going on lol. Havent read the book yet, its fairly small, i will soon.

I treated myself before Christmas to a couple of new decks - the Crow's Magick, brilliant deck, very easy to read with (also the book) and the Healing with the Angels oracle cards which I'd never even looked at before but went to a mystic fair and saw them on display and had to buy them - also very inspiration and good for daily readings. :)

I am LOVING this LOTR deck. We opened it and played the "game" that can be played during my son's nap on Christmas eve (I BEGGED to open it early... i could tell from the shape of the box it was a Tarot set, and i just KNEW it was a LOTR deck).
weeee weeee i now own 5 decks! Do you realize that I've averaged a new deck a month since I've joined this site ??? This cannot continue.... (can it?)
and p.s. i do keep my Univ Waite deck in a CR bag, and so i just MIGHT BE a redneck LOL :D

I got the Herbal Tarot & book set from Ken, one of the few "easy to find" decks left on my wish list. :D I also got Ken the Casanova, which he liked. He isn't really into tarot, but he likes the erotic decks.

The Herbal deck is very RWS based with a twist. Each card has an herb attributed to it and is drawn as part of the scene on the card. The book ( co-written by Michael Tierra, a well respected herbalist) goes into spiritual properties, medicinal properties and dosage and preparation for each plant/herb. You can easily use the deck if you are familiar with RWS but the book is what really helps to bring the two modalities together.
It is a must-have set if you are interested in both Tarot and herbal healing!

This year I ordered two decks for myself. The first one was the Cosmic Tribe tarot, after seeing it online and talking to someone who told me he knows the artist. I have only done one reading with it and have not had time to study it much.
The second deck was backordered by llewellyn, and it showed up on my doorstep two days before Christmas - The Decameron tarot. Both decks are very adult, but the Decameron has copulation depicted. I do wish it's LWB told you which stories were used for the art, since sometimes the art and card meanings do not quite seem to go together.

I like the Herbal because even though I'm not really into herbal medicine, I am interested in herbal lore (if that makes sense, LOL).
I am thinking about ordering a deck for myself with some of my Christmas cash - I really have been wanting the Phantasmagoric Theater lately....

My loving hubby ordered me the Symbolon, which won't be in until just before my (30th) b-day, and with gift certificates from in-laws, got myself the Osho Zen. I'm loving it! I've got it with a slightly milky E.T. crystal. I can't wait for my Symbolon though!

First off a friend who has a tarot deck collection is the only one who would give me a deck and Jack gave me 2. He got me the BOTA deck and found something he thought was unusual so he got that too. I'm drawing a blank on the name that starts like Mille. It has only 56 cards and the courts are half upside down. He alos got some sticker paper printed off inch tall sized copies of the BOTA that he had colored in so many years ago. Well 3 decks.
Second, we've hit about 8 half price stores in the area and I've done some major collection expansion. Half price had a 20% off sale. Plus I'v gotten several on ebay. I haven't even said hello to some of them yet. I've been planning on doing some serious comparative work with them.

It was a Tarot Christmas for me. 2 decks- Haindl and Morgan-Greer. Books: Both books by Rachel Pollack on the Haindl deck, Tarot for Self Discovery by Braden, Tarot Shadow Work by Jette. A velvet bag made by our very own CJTarot into which Haindl now resides, and a wooden Tarot box that I have place Morgan-Greer into. Quite a haul, don't you think! :D
