I just wanted to tell everyone that my first deck came in the mail today! I've heard mixed reviews on the Spiral deck, but I think it's beautiful and every card seems to have a story all its own as a part of the greater scheme of the deck. I'll admit that the major arcana is more beautiful than the minor, but the minor cards are still so much prettier than those in many other decks I've seen. You've definitely got another Spiral fan among you. I hope I get a chance to read with them tonight.

Congratulations, Vita-Morte! Yes, the Spiral is a lovely deck and I'm glad you feel that all the cards are well done and "talk" to you already. Are you going to do a new deck spread with them?

excellent choice. the spiral is indeed beautiful and i love the minors equally much as the majors. they are just different - both are really expressive and has several cards that are real eye-openers even for those that been reading for years.
the spiral is one of those decks i never get tired of and one that i still use a lot for readings.

I decided just to do a general reading for myself using the Celtic Cross, I really like that spread. The reading actually made a lot of sense to me. I'm glad y'all agree, I think this deck is really special.

I don't know who gave this deck bad press, but I certainly like it. I"ve had it for years now. I agree, it is never tiresome to look at and is quite attractive and, to me, subliminal.

I love the Spiral too, & when I did my first reading with it, I was amazed at the level of emotion conveyed . Very different feeling from any other deck I had. Also, a splendid Devil- the best Emperor & Empress too !

I saw a scan recently of the Queen of Swords in the Spiral deck. I think she is one of the loveliest and most powerful Queen of Swords I've seen in a deck.
She has haunted me this week. I never gave the deck much attention until I saw HER.

Congrats Vita-Morte.
This is one of my favorite decks. I love love love the art, and I especially love the ballet dancer (3 of pentacles), and the Temperance card. Honestly I think it is the most beautiful deck in the world, and when I read more about the mythology depicted therein (i.e. Chiron as the hierophant, Iris as Temperance, etc.) I find it even more compelling.
I had a hard time finding it. I asked for it at Shambala Books in Berkeley, and they treated me like I was looking for a George Bush deck or something!!!!! "Oh, no one has asked for that (read: horrible deck) in YEARS!!"
Berkeley is my beloved home town, but sometimes there is a lofty "more weird than thou" attitude that makes me sad...
To be perfectly honest, I don't see the difference between the majors and the minors. Is it just that the majors have more little gold flecks?? They are all lovely. I just LOVE the Empress. Go Red Roses!!! (I spend most of my free time making paper roses...)

I miss mine instead... I wonder if I should ask it back.
Remember fellow tarotholics: NEVER LEND TAROT DECKS, even if you have many and can do without one. And don't espexially if that is one of your main reading decks even though you are using others at the moment...
The Spiral kicks asses! (is it too offensive? Could I say it? *LOL*)
I just LOVE it. I am loving it a bit less than World Spirit now becuase the latter is a novelty and I am starting to work with it and study it.
But the Spiral is BEAUTIFUL. I really love the gold flecks, and all the symbols in the card, and the refinement and clarity of the pictures. There is not ONE card I dislike - and the HIEROPHANT, that usually I abhor, is one of my favs ever! I like the transition to Chiron, very appropriate. And I like it cos there's lots of Greek Symbolism conveyed in a very original and DIFFERENT way.
And the Courts... Who can find a flaw in those? They are fantastic.
The Queen of Swords is CREEPY in her strength. Who would ever believe she has problems asserting herself and getting her way? ;) *LOL* And those icy stare, and the bursting hair-.... WOW! But, in truth, I find the Princess even stronger and creepier... Look at the way she dabbles with the gales!!!
This deck is a BEST BUY. It is very very very deep and good in symbolism, giving a boost to the RW images, and a much nicer artwork. I believe it is the BEST beginner deck around. But its potentiality don't stop to that... there's so much more in it!
I am in love again... BUT WHERE DA HECK IS MY SPIRAL DECK? :( *LOL*

I`ve got this deck but I`ve hardly even looked at it. I`ve been so wrapped up with World Spirit and the Stone Tarot which are both really good decks that I`ve definately neglected this deck. Pollux you`ve just convinced me to get it out and have a look. I don`t think I`ve even done a reading with it.
Thanks Pollux :D :D :D You must get yours back, I`ll bet it`s missing you. ;)
Love and light

The Spiral has been my main reading deck from when I first broke the plastic covering. I'd never had a deck speak so clearly to me and be so honest, this deck just doesn't pull its punches but also feels like an old friend.
Did you get the book to go with it? The book goes into a lot of detail on the Majors, really helps bring the cards to life, very interesting reading the stories behind the cards :) Slightly less details on the Minors but worth it. It took me a long time to hunt the book down but eventually found it on the Somerville playing card site by accident. :)

guess somebody's got to be the bad guy here. oh, well! ;) i can't say i dislike the spiral but there is such a difference b/t the major and minor arcana! the majors are wonderful with a mystical transcendental feeling. the minors seem set in the victorian period with little relation to the majors. this deck reminds me too much of another deck with great majors and disappointing minors--the gendron. with just a little more cohesiveness these both could be great decks. the artistic potential is there.
read the reviews of it here. one of the reviewers actually agrees with me!
