Hello! On the Mythic Tarot my ace of wands is labeled Eso Holi....all the rest of the cards are titled in english except for that one. Is this normal or did I get a deck mistake? Also on Joan Bunnings, Learning the Tarot Website it shows the cards as having a black backing with gold design around the edges and an emblem in the middle however on my deck is is royal blue on the back with a gold border and each back of card says copyright Tricia Newall 1986. For those of you that have this deck please let me know how your ace of wands is titled and which backing you have. Thanks.

Hi Mom of 3 Girls,
My Mythic Tarot Ace of Wands is labelled Ace of Wands. The back is exactly as you describe: Royal blue with gold trim. Copyright Tricia Newell 1986 is written in very frine print on the reverse of each card.
Hope you enjou the deck. I think it's fabulous.

Mom-
I don't know about the words on the Ace of Wands. You may want to contact the publisher.
As for the colours; the Mythic Tarot has been re-published. I suspect that it is the older version that has the black back. What colour of box did it come in when your received it? Black, or Yellow with the Empress on the front? The Yellow one is the newer version, the one with blue backs.
Hope this helps!

Hi,
The backside of my Mythic deck has a black background with a very thin gold border and a gold design in the middle of each card. At the bottom is Copyright Tricia Newell 1986. Ace of Wands is written at the top of the Ace of Wands. I have had these cards for several years so I am pretty sure this is the older publication of this deck. Your deck sounds unique!

Hmmm... I must have the older deck as well, I have black backs with the four-suit emblem in the center, copyrighted 1986. I did a quick search online and didn't come up with what the 'eso holi' might mean... even with translators. I'm very curious... if you do find out, make sure to post it. Hope you're having happy holydays. :)

Ok, my Mythic Tarot came in the box with the empress on the front cover. Inside is a black cloth and the companion book (dark blue with gold cover). Inside the book it says the publisher is Fireside (which I just did a quick search on the internet and couldn't find a website). Also it says this edition is 2001. I also did a quick search on what "eso holi" could mean and couldn't find it on the internet either. Hmmmm. I assume it stands for "ace of wands" in another language????? I guess I could always try emailing the online store it came from and see if they could send me a replacement card (unless all theirs are like that!). It doesn't bother me that much, I was just wondering if this was normal and now I know it isn't. I do like the deck and besides the one typo error it is a lovely and now unique deck!

Hi Momof3Girls!
Yes you do seem to have a unique version of the deck. Mine sounds like everyone else's in the slightly newer edition - purple and gold backs with the element design on the back and the copyright. My Ace of Wands is in English. I got the deck without the book and it isn't clear who the publishers are. Sounds as if some poor soul somewhere is struggling to work out why they've got one lonely card in English!

I have a theory from left field:
1. Say "eso holi" aloud a few times fast.
2. Picture a few drunken printers in Hong Kong ROLF-ing at their own silly prank.
It could happen....

My Mythic is published by Rider, the cards are slightly over-size (I know this because they only just don't fit in the wooden boxes that other decks do). The backing is navy, a thin gold line, the symbol, and the 1986 copyright. My Ace of Wands is, well, 'Ace of Wands'.
However, I know that this deck is available through other publishers, other than Rider. I am not sure if they also print it differently
Actually, there quite often collectors who prize one-off errors. You deck might actually be quite valuable!

I've had 3 decks. One died a sad death of mildew. Each had black backs with a gold trim and 4 element emblem. Never noticed the copywright before. 2 came in a kind of purle box, 1 had no box. The books were black covered with gold lettering. While one was soft cover, the other was a hard cover that I hope will not a have glue problem like I saw on so many of the soft covers in the store. All were black.
No Eso Holi

I emailed Simon and Shuster the publication company the other day and they are sending me out a replacement card and I still get to keep the one that says "eso holi" too!
