In the Universal Waite three of pentacles,
WHAT is the workman holding in his right hand? In his left hand is a chisel, but what is that in the right? It looks like a chemist's beaker, or a granite lightbulb, or maybe some kind of blunt object for whapping the tonsured monk in the head...

It's some kind of hammer. I don't know what it's called but I've seen them made out of hard wood and used by stonecarvers and wood workers. It gives a softer blow on the chisel.

It's a hammer. The 'mushroom' thingie is the head, so instead of a conventional hammer like those used for driving nails (which is why the head is so small), this covers a larger area when struck.
I want to know what the person in the spotted cloak is supposed to be. Someone once said it's a nun - What order? Our Lady of Perpetual Motion?
