Calling Upon All Users of the Victoria Regina

I am requesting input regarding anyone here who uses the Victoria Regina Tarot. Please share your experiences with readings in this deck. I must say I love this deck, I receive such clear and honest answers regarding my questions. I am also interested in tarot reader's stance on reversals with this deck. Typically, with other decks I use reversals, because I find them enriching. However, the book which accompanies the Victoria Regina tarot does not use reversals so I have chosen, at this point in time, since my relationship to this deck is so new, not use reversals with this deck, and I personally would not want to offend the Queen! Please share any opinions or advice or experiences please!

If you go back to the Tarot Decks Forum thread list, the third thread from the top says "Partial Table of Contents." If you click on that thread, you will see threads for various decks grouped together by deck. If you scroll down, you'll see there are several threads for Victoria Regina.

Howdy imagoddess... I got the Victoria Regina for Christmas and so far just love it. As others have stated in those other threads on the V.R., it is giving me very accurate readings which sometimes contain some real surprises. I definitely get a feel that this deck, for the most part, will be giving me some very straightforward readings. No beating around the bush with this deck... if I need to be told "you're an idiot" then that's what this deck will tell me.

I have also had a couple of uncanny "predictions" with this deck as well. For instance my "daily" 3-card reading for my shift the other night said the day would end in disharmony (2 Cups, rx) - after my shift was over, 2 of the people who had just come on duty got into an argument during a discussion of some recent disciplinary actions taken by our department. Yes... I know that many of you Aeclectic Tarot-ites don't use the Tarot for "predicting" the future, but I do - I don't go looking for specifics, but if I see something predicted in a reading, I'm not going to ignore it.

I decided right off to go ahead and use reversed cards in this deck. The "meanings" of the cards (both in the book, and what I get personally from the imagery) are, for the most part, close enough to the meanings I apply to the same cards in other decks that I have had no real problem, so far, with using reversals.

Well... that is, briefly, what my experience with the V.R. Tarot has been. Great deck...

Hi Imagoddess: I've had the VR deck for several months now. And like others in this thread, I have found it to be a very 'direct' deck. I have used it many times for readings in the Reading Exchange and it always seems to 'deliver'. On the question of reversals, I've just started using them with other decks, but I have decided not to use them with the VR deck. I guess it's a bit of cop out to use the excuse that the creators don't use reversals so I shouldn't either, but, it works for me :D! But I'm probably the wrong person to talk about reversals because although I'm trying to use them, I just find that my heart sinks every time I see one. Well, that's a topic for another thread.

My only issue with the deck is the court cards, which, with a few exceptions, I have had difficulty with. For the most part, I just look at which court card has come up and remember what that card means for me in other decks, which isn't exactly intuitive. Although, The King of Cups is ok, and some of the others as well.

I've bought a number of decks since the VR, (Haindl, Thoth, Morgan-Greer) but none of them seem to give me the confidence that the VR deck does. It's been sitting on my shelf for a few weeks now untouched. But I keep thinking that eventually, after I've experimented with a number of decks, I'm going to end up with the VR deck as my default reading deck.

edit: I forgot to mention, the five card spread in the Spreads section of the book is one of my favourites, especially when you have a very specific question in mind.

I agree with you on just about everything you mentioned. I'm not using reversals with this deck for the same reason, I feel that this deck isn't meant to be read with reversals, partially because of the way the book is written, but more so because, the cards are so concise.

I have had such wonderful clear, honest, direct, readings with this deck. So much so, that I too, have abandoned my other deck, which is the Visconti Tarot.

Regarding the court cards, I carefully read the biography of the person on the court card, and apply the characteristics or the actions that this person would take to my interpretations. I have found this works well in terms of telling me what kind of relationship with another person (which is well documented in the biographical section) such as drawing the Price of Wands in a question regarding a boyfriend (he is a player - read the story) or what sort of position I will attain in the future, such as will I be a leader? Or in the background such as Princess Beatrice.

And I believe some one previosly within this thread referred to precision of divination with deck. I wholeheartedly agree.

Right, I've been meaning to get to those biographies. That would definitely help. It's like the Haindl deck in that way. The court cards are sooo different that you really have to understand the people that are being portrayed. Have fun with the deck.

Well, I am glad that helped. Anytime you feel stuck regarding an interpretation with a court card with this deck, feel free to post here and I will be happy to offer my insight, for what its worth.

Cheers!
