I posted before and mentioned this bookseller, WITH WHICH I HAVE NO AFFILIATION, before anyone inquires. I buy from this company often, and saw some great deals in the recent catalog, which I feel obligated to post. I'm a bargain hunter, what can I say!

Went to the site you suggested and saw the offerings... it is worth a bookmark to see what may pop up there in the future.
Note: I saw there a book on understanding the tarot by Emily Peach... DO NOT BUY it unless you are one that feels they need all correspondences to astology, planetary alignment, et al ad nauseum... she was the one who turned me off tarot so many years ago, detouring me before I did make it back and realize that there is more intuitive to tarot, and not all memorization of occult.
Peace!

Thank you Khatruman, for the suggestion to read the Peach book! I have it around here, and probably bought it from an Outlet store for very cheap, but never read it. That it is so steeped in occult knowledge really gets my Tarot juices flowing. I hadn't realized. You know how it is with impulse buying sometime.
Anyway, I certainly do not mean to be offensive, it's just that...that...that sort of thing is what I seek in a Tarot book. You know what they say: "One person's apple is another person's Peach."
Now after all that, I sure hope I like the book! :)

Now after all that, I sure hope I like the book! :) LOL... no offense taken certainly... that is why I qualified my advice. I have nothing against learning occult correlations and such as understanding the deeper significances, but NOT for a beginner's book. It would be like teaching 9th grade writers that they have to know all the intricacies of rhetoric before they write their "What I did on my summer vacation" paper. Perhaps also, what I didn't like about Peach was that she felt it necessary to know all these things before even looking at the cards. I think I was more against her pedagogy rather than her ideas. As far as new learners, I would suggest an approach like Umbrae has taken in his series he is beginning in the Talking Tarot thread: Throw away all the books and just write about your impression of the cards. Learning naturally begins with play. It is how all creatures grow and mature. They play with things and later add "rules" and higher understandings.
Peace!
