Hello Everyone,
I recently purchased The Wise Woman's Tarot at Flash Silvermoon's website. Solandia has an excellent review of this deck, and it was the Aeclectic featured deck recently.
I cannot tell you how tremendous the deck is! The artist Barbara Vogel, has done a superb job with depicting the images and the vibrant colors simply leap out at you. The spiral bound book that accompanies the deck is wonderful with lengthy descriptions of the Major Arcana cards, and more limited discussion of the Minors.
Flash Silvermoon has renamed some of the Majors and the book fully explains her frame of reference for their meanings which is different and quite interesting to me. One of the most interesting cards to me is the renamed Tower. Now called Revolution / Revelation, the card depicts the Goddess Pele bursting /leaping out of the mouth of an erupting volcano. She has firey hair and her mouth is wide open in this silent primal scream. So awsome!
How appropriate since the Tower card represents a sudden burst of disruption / change?
I got the deck about one month ago, and have been working it up since by drawing a daily card to connect with each cards symbolism and meaning. I have been getting amazingly accurate daily cards and readings in general.
I am so drawn to the whole Goddess / Divine Feminine theme, these cards don't just speak to me, they shout! I love it.
Has anyone else gotten this deck, and if so what is your experience with it?

Hi,
*smiles* this was actually my first one, about
ten years ago. I was too ... hm... "rational" to admit to my interest in the Tarot and so I bought that deck "as a present" for my then-girlfriend. (I figured it would appeal to her feminist side, which it actually did, I suppose).
I don't think she still reads the cards... I do.
I found the Wise Woman's Tarot most endearing - it's very soft in its colouring and figuration.
Interesting, only today I considered buying one myself... will try and get it as a birthday present, though.

I won a copy of this deck on ebay a few days ago... it was apparently a damaged copy (happened at the printer) so they couldn't sell it for the regular price. I was lucky enough to get it at about 1/2 off, since it regularly sells for $50. The damage is very minimal, however... just an irregularity of the die cutting... not even enough to really notice. So, if you see this on ebay and can get it, DO! It came without a box, so I will have to find a nice bag for it.
So far I like it very much! I've only glanced thru the cards but I like what I see. The card stock isn't very heavy, but it's laminated well. And for those with small hands... this deck is HUGE! It's bigger than the Nigel Jackson or the Goddess (which I know are considered to be large decks). There are some changes to the majors, I believe.. but I haven't had time to really look through it yet.
The book is nice, it's a spiral bound book, so you can lay it flat on a table for reading or reference. There's alot of personal information about the people who worked on the deck, including the author and illustrator, so you feel a connection with them as you look at the cards.
Anyway, I just wanted to add my quick review/overview of this deck. Especially since there doesn't seem to be much talk about it on the forum.

i got my copy last friday. it's one of the best self-published decks i have seen. the art is wonderful. a lot of research obviously went into each card. the book is the best book for a self-pub i've seen. i didn't think i'd feel so drawn to it but i am. if you to flash silvermoon's website, you can get for $35 + a bag done by afghanistani women for $10. w/o the bag you pay postage. w/ you don't pay postage. delivery was very fast. the bag is humongous. it's more than ample for twwt and maybe 2 or 3 more decks. the bag is lined and well made. my set came with two 2 of pentacles cards and no 3 of pents. i emailed flash and got a quick response. they are going to remedy the situation but i don't know how yet.
overall, i'm very impressed with the work of flash and her friends. while there isn't an equal gender balance, it deck is very much multi-cultural and multi-racial. flash even went to an african priestess and chose an african goddess to bless her project. there are pictures in her book about the ceremony.
i'm very much an animal person and flash includes lots of pictures and stories about her pets both living and deceased. imho, it gives the set extra charm.
i think of the self-pubs i have, this one and the templar decks are my favorites.

By the way, Flash is having a one year anniversary sale and selling the decks seperately for the first time ever.
You can get the deck for just $10 for the next week or so, by using this link: http://www.flashsilvermoon.com/anniversary.htm
