Thoth deck: Question about card colours

I just recently bought the Thoth deck (the large version) and I picked up the Book of Thoth as well. On the inside front and back covers of the book are depictions of various Trump cards in colour. I noticed that the colours of the cards in the book are far more vibrant than my cards. And some of the hues are completely different. Anybody know why that is? Is it just the difference between printers? Lawguy51

There are different versions of the Thoth. There's one by US Games which is supposed to have "more muted colours", and one by AGM AGMuller. You can see them on Joan Bunning's website.

Besides the differences between the AGM and USGames versions, I've found that there can be differences between cards illustrated in books and the cards themselves, with the book illustrations being more vivid. This is also true for card boxes; you'll notice, for instance, on USGames decks, the cards illustrated on the boxes are often more vivid than the cards themselves. I don't know enough about card publishing to know why, but my guess is it would be too expensive to print the cards with that kind of color. Although, there are decks like the Cosmic Tribe and the Inner Child and the Celtic Wisdom that have that kind of vivid color, so maybe the other publishers are just being cheap. :) -- Lee

Ahh...that explains it. I have the US Games version.

I have the pocket version. On the box it says published by U.S. Games, but the plastic on the cards when I opened it says AGM AGMuller made in belgium. I also noticed that even the small pictures of two cards on the box, are more vibrant than the actual cards.

I have the AGM version, and was expecting the colours to be far more colourful than they in fact turned out to be. Aerin

Have you considered joinning the study group? There seems a few people who read the information there, but post questions on this deck elsewhere.... Perhaps some active participation in the study group may serve purposeful.
