Go on, how many packs of Tarot have you bought and not yet used? I have discovered recently that I have not yet used my Casanova (rectified), or my Kazanlar (about to be rectified), and there are others just crying out to be used at least once.

The only one I haven't used is Tarot of the Arts that my daughter-in-law got me for Christmas. I just haven't had time and inclination to get into it yet. I'm packing to move so I can travel, so mostly the only time I use any cards is my morning and evening cards.

I've only got 5 decks. One of those, the Aquarian, I haven't used in years (maybe 10 years). I just got the Crow's Magic Tarot about a week ago and haven't used it yet; haven't even shuffled it. I don't think I'll be using it any time soon either. I like it but am still spending a lot of time learning my other decks. I find learning easiest on my Universal Waite (with a little feedback from my Victoria Regina) and Alchemical.

I have two new decks, the Sacred Circle and the Mythic, and as far as I have got with them, is they are out of their box, wrapped up and put in a nice little bag, I haven't found any time at all to even get to know either of them....lol..:D
Cheers

it is all a matter on what being used means...
for some decks being used simply means being admired - like the dante or the bosch.
some i use only for daily cards.
some only for spiritual quests like shadow work or spells.
but i do have a few i never ever used.
like the huge majors only deck "tarot and you" from a book
like the worlds smallest tarot - or the mini nova. or the butt-ugly royal tarot.

The ones I intend to use (some I just bought because I liked the artwork, not for actual use), but haven't used yet: Tarot of the Old Path, Aquarian, Legend Arthurian, Kazanlar.
Decks that I've hardly used, but want to use more: Robin Wood, Faeries' Oracle.

Well... other than a new-deck reading, my Dragon Tarot hasn't been used much, though studied some. Also, my mother's old Albano-Waite hasn't seen a lot of use because the cards are rather flimsy and I don't want to damage them...

While I'm admiring some, trying to get to know others and trying to study a bit here and there others...
At this stage of my learning I find myself going back to the mythic deck that I spent the most time learning from most recently. I find that I am learning more following these forums when a particular card is discussed than I was when I tried to inhale a deck on masse. I keep going back and looking at all these mew decks. Each time trough I mroe fully "recognize" more of the cards and their meanings. But I don't feel like I have a handle on all the cards in any of the other decks, maybe need to double check again.
You ask this just as I was trying to decide for my in depth study of each of the cards if I was going to start with the fool and march through the cards one by one or pick one at random and work outward each time. This is a big decision because each card will take mroe than 2 weeks thus the whole project will take more than a year.
One of the sub-decisions is if I will go back and add in thoughts from new decks as I get them or declare a moritorium on new deck purchases.
I'm not even sure that I have compiled a good stack of questions so that I could get a useful answer from asking tarot to decide for me. :)
Back to the original question.. 0 :) ALL })

I'm in the process of or have just traded away most of the decks I don't use. I mainly didn't or don't use them because they weren't right for me. I have two decks left that I don't use currently. There is the Aquarian, which was my first deck. It has a special place on my bookshelf and most likely will not be used again. And there is the Hanson-Roberts, which I am saving to use with Tarot Shadow work.
For me there is no point in keeping around a deck I do not use. As much as I love Tarot cards, I'm not really interested in a large collection. Currently there is another deck or two that I am interested in, each to be used to a specific purpose. Then until something else that suits another purpose comes along, I probably won't buy or trade for another deck. Unless of course, I find that I am not using one of my decks.

Ohhhhh my ... well lets see here ... first of all could you please define what you mean by "use"? ... I get decks for many different reasons (compulsion is one of them, yes). Sometimes my purpose for the deck is in the future (usual taroholic excuse). No seriously, I like writting stories and have recently started using my oracle and tarot decks for this purpose ... I just dusted off my Celtic Dragon and am getting ready to writte a story using it ... already did my spread to see what cards I will use :). I am also participating in the SACT project here, and had to pull out a few cards from decks I never knew I would actually use in order to gain insights for the card I am creating. I was quite glad I had the decks I needed to do this.
I rather have the decks on hand ... for when the moment to use them arises, then be caught needing a deck and not being able to get my hands on it. Then again I am hopless taroholic and probably not the right person to ask this question to anyway. As for Truthsayer ... any inquiries about her habits please contact me (she sais I am her lawyer ... don't ask ... I am sure the answer is scary *LOL*).

I figured out the math , that I use or have used only about one quarter to one third of my tarot decks. Um................do I need a lawyer for this?
Or maybe a shrink to ask me how I FEEL about that? :P !

I have never used the Thoth.
Pattern: feel guilty about not using Thoth and think I *should*; get Thoth think 'ugh'; get rid of Thoth to better home.
I have also never used the Merlin Tarot. I really must offer it in trade.
Also, the All in One. I get it out and look occasionally, it isn't that I don't like it exactly just that I don't seem to connect with it.
Every other deck has been used but not necessarily on a regular basis: I tend to use my faves a lot. At the moment that would be: Fey, Arthurian Tarot (Hallowquest); Universal Waite.
Aerin
ps I think there is probably some sort of personality/ most used/ least used deck correlation, but I haven't had time to sit down and think about it or do the research :)

In a way I think that is the right answer, yes ... insanity plea ... a combination of compulsion and addiction :P It is beyond your control, no one can question that. As proof I will offer your current deck listing as Exhibit A, your post record on Aeclectic in Exhibit B, your trading patterns in Exhibit C, your Amazon and Tarot Garden Bills as Exhibit D, and your wishlist in Exhibit E. I will also put you on the stand and ask you about your PO Box ~giggles~. With that evidence the jury will know for sure you are sick *ROFLMAO*. Guess it takes one to know one ;)
Purplelady ... I think you need the shrink not the lawyer. But should you need a lawyer please contact Trutsayer or I at Tarotholics (Not)Anonymous and we'll get you hooked up.

Thinking about what was said on this thread, how about the other side? What decks have been retired, and why?
None of my decks is yet due for retirement, but who knows!

Well happiness, my decks are on extended vacations .... never know when I might need them ;). Retirement is not an option for my decks.
