Help please - Spiral minors

It serves me right for being greedy - I couldn't wait for the set so bought only the deck and the book is unavail. in the UK. I realise now I'm missing out on much valuable information about the majors but there's 4 minors I just don't get.

3 of pents - to me usuually indicates learning, in contrast to 8 of pents achievement/ enactment of skill. This woman is in the spotlight, flowers at her feet in recognition of her performance - it feels more like the 8 of pents.
6 of pents - I don't get it - who [symbolically] are the figures, what's their relationship?
6 of cups - why is one cup upturned?
8 of cups - why is the woman looking at me? And what are the red flowers behind her? I'm struggling to get the 'mood' of the card.

Any help would be most gratefully received.

Well i don;t have the book or the deck with me at the moment but i do no the anwer to you question about the three of pentacles.
She tells in here book that to become a dancer its hard work and being on the stage is the result of that hard work etc. Its mastering a job into its perfection.
I hope this helps you a little

O and the eight of cups is supposed to be Phersephone ( sp?)
On here way to see here mate Hades...going into the underworld

I have the spiral set, so I can help you by looking these cards up. The 3 of pentacles : represents recognition and praise for skills.Sincere efforts does not go unrewarded.when the 3 of pentacles appears you will receive your dues. The six of cups is connected to past memories.Sometimes we are filled with nostalgia for the good old days. some people are so rooted in the past that it stops their progress because not all our past experiences were rosy. When the 6 of cups appears, someone, a past lover friend or foe may reappear in ones life, giving an opportunity to renew an old acquintance or work through an old emotional issue. The Lovers card depicting a triangle between the lovers and an angel corresponds to the 6 of cups which also suggests a triangle; a third person from the past could become involved in an emotional situation with you. The 8 of cups is the goddess Persephone returning to her underworld home for the winter cycle. The myth describes how we go through life quite happily, taking for granted our seven cups. Then something happens: a broken relationship, a lost love, or a realization that those 7 cups can no longer fulfill the dream. We go into our private underworld alone questing for our 8th cup. This takes us on a lonely painful trip but with inner strength we come back in the spring renewed.Or we may go on a physical trip, hoping to feel renewed and fulfilled. I hope this helps, and if you want any other card describtions from the book I can look it up for you. Dakini

The 6 of pentacles denotes equality between all people, giving and receiving with no strings attached.you may receive gifts of material value or simple gifts of love. you may be the donor, able to give with an open heart. Practical help may come when you need it.With this card you are not on your own; there are others willing to share with you, and you with them. There is a karmic message in this card : You reap what you sow. Dakini

Hi Aoife,

I've just replied to your other posting about The Fool card,
and I've just done a search for the book, Somerville don't seem to have it in nor do any of the other online shops I sometimes use but AmazonUK still have the set in, its a 4 to 6 week wait but sometimes they get them here quicker.
The book is worth it, the stories are fasinating. The Spiral is becoming quite a popular deck maybe if you ordered the set you could trade the second deck on. I think I paid around £9 for the book I have and for me it really bought the deck alive. Just a thought :)

I feel really awful because everyone's been so helpful.....

But I'm not sure I really like this deck. *Aoife ducks in anticipation of flying tomatoes* It just feels so..... busy!

I did a new deck spread:
What do you want from me? Knight of Cups
What will you teach me? The World
What will our relationship be? The Hanged Man
Looked like I was in for a fascinating time but I've been using the deck for the past couple of days and grown increasingly distracted by the wealth of symbolism in the majors particularly. Perhaps I'll return to it later but for now I've put it away and returned to my beloved melancholic Hudes and my fascinating Atavist.

I'm really sorry!

I hope no one gets annoyed for this, but I would appreciate if we could keep the discussion going in one thread. I will close this one down, as we have another thread active that is more generic and could include the content of this one as well...

Please refer to the following link for future discussion:
http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11534

If this causes problems of any sort, please feel free to contact me! :)

EDITED TO ADD: Merging the two threads would simply mix the posts and make the discussion unconsistent and interrupted a lot of times - been there done that... Hope this choice doesn't cause unease, if so please let me know! ;)
