On a whim, after talking about my sister sagitarian's readings with her old Hanson Roberts deck, I up and bought my own copy last Friday!
:D Weeeeee!!!
Am I nuts? Isn't this the deck that's syrupy and sweet? Isn't this the... oh the heck with it. I just like it! :)
I love my Uni. Waites, but They don't always want to read (although that may now be passing). In fact, I've *wondered* if I bought the H-R's FOR my Universal Waite deck.
Now, does THAT make sense?
And if so ... then by golly, what's next??? a COSMIC TRIBE (~~ shudders~~)????

AWESOME! Then again, I'm her sister...lol. I always found the H-R deck worked REALLY well for the general public. It spoke loads and loads of info to me and will always remain my favorite deck of all time.
And NOT the cosmic tribe, but...grins, you could always get the cosmic tarot. Wiggles her eyebrows and tries to look wicked. Laughs. Love you alissa, hope your new deck speaks to you as much and more then it did me!

the hanson roberts is my favorite reading deck. i know some ppl consider it too sweet but i don't. the art is great and light. it's not a moody deck--good mental health. the major and minor arcana have synchronicity. it gives great readings. it's a good all purpose deck. there's very little if anything offensive about it to anxious querents of any age. it's easier on the eyes than the classic rws. it doesn't add unneeded complexity by including every divination sysytem known for obscure purposes. what you see is what you get. it tells the truth but it doesn't use a slingshot b/t the eyes to explain. i have other decks that i use for other special purposes but nothing beats HR as a tea and empathy deck, imho. :)

NOw look what you did!
You made me order the Hanson-Roberts, too!
Ofcourse, I could still cancel.....Considering the nasty things you said about my beloved Cosmic Tibe, maybe I should..;)
Does anyone know if the book is worth getting, too?
I have this thing about books, you see.... Even worse than my thing about tarot decks!

Well, thus far I'm still quite glad I got it. I'm considering getting something convenient to carry them in around with me, since they're so small.
I've grown used to oversized cards :) I find myself fumbling with the H-R's a little when getting used to their seemingly diminutive size.
Hedera, I hope you love yours!
and p.s. nope, sorry i still don't dig on the cosmic tribe :P but that's why i'm glad there are soooo many decks out there to work with now!

Hedera : I had gotten the Hanson Roberts deck on ebay and it didn't come with the book. So I decided to order the book at a local bookstore, and I'm glad I did. Imo I think the book is very informative and is good for beginners as well as the experinced reader. Dakini

And so far, I *love*it, my sweet little Hanson-Roberts (almost too little, even for me, but it does tempt me to just take it along anywhere I go, even walking the dog - you never know when you might want to do a reading, even in the middle of scooping poop, right? ;))!!
I find it very enjoyable to look at, to handle, and I did a little 3-card daily spread with it this morning that went really well. It's very close, virtually identical, to RWS symbolism, which makes it comfortable to read, and I really like the style.
I think this is going to be a very nice, 'basic' sort of deck, for when I'm not in the mood for the intensity of the Fey or the richness of the Cosmic Tribe.
The only thing is that all my bags are really waaaay to big for it, even in the tiniest one it's just swimming around. Anyone here do custom-sized bags?
:) Hedera.

I've been using this deck for daily cards almost consistently since I bought it, along with a daily from my Uni WAite deck. I find it's a nice accessible deck if I don't want to strain myself on the symbolism.
I'm also still considering carrying this deck around with me, but I would need a bigger purse than I currently have to do so. In the meantime, try a search with "tarot bags" and I'm sure you'll find plenty of links to folks who make custom bags -- I know Demonesse does.
