Hi Cinnamon,
Juliet Sharman-Burke and Liz Greene created the Mythic Deck which a lot of people use here.
I have it, although I don't use it all that often now. It's a beautiful deck. Very gentle.
Just out of curiosity, do you come from the Australian Hawkesbury District? I notice you're a fairly new member.
Welcome anyway and you'll probably get lots of responses to your question about the deck!

I think cinnamon means the deck which comes with the book "Beginner's Guide to Tarot" by Juliet Sharman-Burke, with cards illustrated by Giovanni Caselli.
I don't use the deck but I think it's a very nice deck, and certainly quite usable.

I have used the Giovanni Casseli deck, and found it, and the book accompanying it to be particularly informative and helpful in my tarot learning experience.
It is a RW based deck. The images are colourful. And the symbolism is clear and precise. My only complaint is that the cards are kind of flimsy, and one stupid clumsy friend of mine was shuffling so hard that the back of the King Of Swords card got all raggedy and debauched. I was not impressed.
Overall, a good deck. And a nice one to start with.

Thank you Moongold, Lee, and Centaur 20. Yes the deck I have is the Giovanni Caselli deck, and I am fortunate enough to have a deck of strongly made cards, not flimsy, to my relief. I love the deck, and have found it very useful to me, It is just great to get opinions from other learned readers, to know if others find the deck has worked for them. I know it is an individual thing, but some decks are quite coarse or too dramatic, and I get lost in the symbolism. I prefer simple and gentle decks that don't freak my clients out, with pictures that one can relate to easily. Thankyou for all your comments, I am happy to hear that others enjoy the deck also.
Yes, moongold, I am from the Hawkesbury district in N.S.W. Australia, a lovely place to live. I am near the hawkesbury River, I would never live anywhere else, I love it here.
Looking forward to more posts and threads
Cinnamon.

i like this deck set quite a lot. i use the book more than i do the deck. it's one of the best tarot books i've seen. the deck is easier on the eyes than the rws. i'd definitely recommend it.

Just anote to say my first deck was the Mythic deck which i used because my old Tarot reading friend uses too. I found it gentle and freindly. It was easy to understand but I have just bought the Robin Wood deck which i find (and still learning about) fires me in a way that the Mythic never did.
I love them both but i still only read for others with the Mythic ... I have not ' got to grips ' with Ronbin wood yet; although i am loving the chance to think of my own meanings in the cards rather than.. ' knowing them' already.

It is a shame that there are no images of the Giovanni Casseli deck in Aeclectic Tarot, Tarot Deck images section. Perhaps this could be addressed. It really is an excellent deck.

Yes, I think it is a shame that the Giovanni Caselli deck is not available for viewing in the Aeclectic tarot deck listings. It is a lovely deck and others could benefit from knowing it exists.
Thanks all again for your comments, I would like to look at the R.W. deck also, it sounds very interesting. best wishes all.
Cinnamon.

Why not e-mail Solandia and ask if she would like you to write a review? There won't be one unless we have people who own the deck and are prepared to spend a bit of time putting down some thoughts about it....

ps I don't have this set, the cards do look nice though

I like this set a lot. In fact, it is the one next to my bed, from which I pull daily cards. The book is good, too -- explains the imagery of the deck very clearly.
When I pull a card, I look at it for a while before I look at the book. When I then look at the book, there is always something there that clarifies what I have thought, or explains it in a way that I can understand.

hi there coco,
I love the colourful and clear pictures, the imagery is beautiful and I also get a feeling strong from each card when I pick one. The book is very descriptive and easy to follow too. thanx for your comments

I especially like the Temperance, strength, Star and queen of cups, they are just magical to look at, and say so much.

In Europe (various amazon.something) there are two different versions of this set. I was wondering if the card stock might have been improved in between.
Could the Sharman-Caselli deck owners tell me what edition (ISBN or date) they have and their opinion about the card stock ?
I would be very grateful. Also the prices are quite different: 8€ difference on amazon.fr so there must be some quality difference, right? Or is it just that one set was aimed to the US market whereas the other one was for UK ??
Thanks in advance, anyway ! :-)

Hi Kissa,
I use this deck, my copy is ISBN 0-312-28482-9 it was printed in 2001. St. Martin's Griffin in New York but printed and bound in China. I paid $19.95. My cards I think are the flimsy kind. They aren't to bad I have worst card stock. Tarot de Paris comes to mind. But they certainly aren't the quality of say, US Games cards. Hope this helps you find the good quality cards. This is a great RWS version it deserves better card stock. Namaste

Thanks very much lark!
That should do it, I'm going to put the other set (published in may 2002) on my Xmas list. The cards stock may be as flimsy but I take the chance: the scans of this deck look really interesting and the critics are good :-)
Thanks again! Have a nice holiday season!

Hi Kissa, I have the same one as lark. I just went and felt the cards along with the Radiant Rider Waite cards for comparison. I have to say I agree with lark, it's not the best card stock but it's not the worst either. Compared to the Radiant Rider, the Radiant Rider cards are a tiny bit stiffer than the Sharman, but not really any thicker. When I feel the Sharman cards I don't say to myself, "eww, these are so thin." I personally don't think it's a problem. And the set is relatively inexpensive, you could easily get two, or just wait and see if you wear out one of them and then just buy a new one to replace it.

I have this deck also, my first impression of the card stock was that it was cheap... Never judge a book by its cover.. :) I find that they are very durable. I also got this one for my niece's first deck. I think that she will find it easy to learn with.
BTW mine is the same ISBN
My Radiants I find diffcult to shuffle because they are so glossy.. I haven't used them enough to break them in yet.

I have both decks mentioned above. I love Juliet Sharman-Burke's work and her meaning of the cards. I can relate easily to them, clients can as well. The imagery on both decks is lovely and easy to relate to. Tells the story of the card very well.
I use the Mythic Tarot at work and find most clients love it and can easily relate.
I finish the reading with a quick oracle reading and everytime the oracle readings confirm what the Mythic Tarot has already said.
I believe The Mythic Tarot to be an excellent deck.
