erotic decks

how many people here use erotic decks and what do you use them for? (ie, do you use them for specific purposes or just general everyday use) what drew you to use an erotic deck?

I find them sorta amusing, but I don't actually ~use~ them. They seem so specific that I hardly ever find a need for an erotic deck. Not that I mind them. I'm sure they're legitimate, but I don't find myself attracted to them for any divinatory purpose, and they're sort of laughable as a meditation aid. In some ways they're the Tarot equivalent of pinup playing cards. Am I going to play in a serious poker tournament with pinup playing cards? They fit the category of theme decks, in which Tarot information is seen through a highly-colored lens. Sometimes the theme takes over, and dilutes the Tarot-ness. All that being said, I should also say that I don't actually own any erotic decks. I have a dozen or so Tarot decks in all, of various kinds, but no erotic decks. Come to think of it, maybe I'm not the right person to be answering this question... :)

yeah thats what i was thinking: that they would be used more for non-serious stuff so thats why i was wondering

I have the manara tarot, I got it because the chariot looked like fun (I saw it at tarot garden - don't have a link sorry). In the end I think there is about a third of the cards I like. I got it just to add something different to my collection, I can't read with it at all and to me it is not tarot, just a collection of pictures. The artist maybe does not know tarot or only very basically or does not really care, just wants to make pretty pictures (this may be different for other erotic decks that depict the meaning better, don't know). Can't think of any use for them anyway, I don't have questions about sex I want to ask the cards ;) and I would not use them for anything else either. I would not use them for questions on a relationship because it automatically draws the answers in a certain direction. I don't do fun readings but I did I would not use this deck either, I would use the halloween tarot or tarot for cats, not an erotic deck. So actually I do nothing with it :P

I have the Decameron, which is based on classic literature, so I can justify getting them }). Seriously, I haven't used them for a formal reading, but I do use them to address more sensual concerns. I have looked at other decks also, but haven't had the need to buy any of them. What I like about the Decameron is that it is not a beautiful-people-having-sex deck, as if only people of a certain beauty standard are capable of evoking sexuality. There is a degree of sensuality in many tarot decks considered non-erotic also, such as the Rohrig.

but there are not many people you can read for using these. So I think it is something you buy when you have already a deck for regular use. But hey, life is short! Alex.

Trust me to answer this one. Noooooop never had one but I would love to own one of the vulgur decks. I didn't like them at first, thinking that it was so naff and sick to do such a thing to tarot. I would never dream of using a erotic deck for readings, It would just be a laugh It would be interesting to do a erotic poll Just think how many people would answer to the everyday use question.:D
