Today I bought my second Tarot deck. So, besides the Thoth Tarot (which is too complicated for me for the time being - I just have it and admire the artwork) I am a proud owner of the Morgan-Greer Tarot deck. There were so many choices in my shop. First (before going off to the shop) I decided I'd buy RW Tarot. Then, looking at all those beautiful decks (Golden Dragon, Art Nouveau, Renaissance deck) I decided I actually didn't like RW that much - somehow I found it to be overused in all the books and was all around me - although it's definitely good for a novice) and I bough Morgan-Greer and I love it. I know it is a RW clone but I found images to be more fairy-tale like. Love the colours, love the faces, clear-cut drawings, white flowers in the cards. So, wish us both (the cards and myself) good luck with getting to know each other!

has some gorgeous blue and teal tones. I noticed the colors in that deck are vivid and rich and I hope you get good, vibrant readings with it.

Hmm.... I never liked the morgan greer or the sharman-burke decks, they resemble the RWS but seem to cheapen it with slightly different artwork. I say, if you want a Rider-Waite, get a Rider-Waite (Or universal, but you know what I mean :-])
But then again, thats just me, and Im a traditionalist :-p
My 'rider-waite' is actually the Russian Tarot of St Petersburg, which I think has the same pictures as the RWS but 'russianized' against the outcrop of russian faberge eggs.
So I guess, if you really like the morgan greer, then itll prolly work for you. Good luck!

You know ,spunch, I felt the same way about the Rider-Waite for a long time. Although, it was the first deck that I ever got, I just had a hard time getting it to "click" for me. I have the Morgan-Greer and I love it. The colors, which I had found unappealing in the RW, are much softer and and very pleasant, in my opinion. Even the back of the cards are pretty! I eventually got the Universal RW and have enjoyed that one as well, but the Morgan-Greer is one of my first loves! I hope it works well with you and that you enjoy it!

Well I know that the images in Morgan-Greer deck are like 'zoomed in' RWs. So looking at The Fool in MG, you can't see his legs, you can't see that he might fall of the precipice, because there's no precipice to be seen (most of this guys on the cards don't have legs shown) but I don't think one misses much. If I compare RW Fool with Morgan-Greer, I don't miss much in MG. The symbolism is still there. And the colours are just great! And I like the fact that there is no border around cards, they are completely filled with images. I like the flowers there and definitely, for a novice, it's easier to read (well, certainly MUCH more easier than my first Thoth deck - especially the minors)

Good luck! Hopefully you will share some of your experiences with those of us whom do not have the deck.
Good luck again!
Blessings,

Congrats on getting your second deck... what an exciting time!!! I remember getting the deck that brought me back to tarot after frustratingly leaving it (back then, there was no internet, let alone this wonderful community of tarot enthusiasts). It was the William Blake Tarot of the Creative Imagination, and it opened a whole new world of possibilities.
Now, many decks later, I still hold great warmth for this deck and it continues to inspire me. Keep that joy for this deck, because that is what is most important on your learning path. Enjoy your Morgan-Greer and leap off the precipice!
Peace

Congratulations on your new deck. I haven`t got the Morgan Greer deck but I do really like the colours and the artwork, it`s on my wishlist although I`m desperately trying to curb my addiction to buying tarot cards. One of the main reasons why I like this deck is that it`s got no borders- borders always bother me.
Anyway enjoy!
Love and light

The Morgan Greer was my second deck, too, and it will always have a special place in my heart. Khatruman evokes those early days so beautifully -- there is such wonder and excitement in obtaining one's first decks. I join everyone here in wishing you a wonderful tarot journey. Enjoy your Morgan Greer! :)

I have never got on with the ryder waite set no matter how many times i work with the deck i just cant get uesed to so. I am drawn to the golden dawn or the universal but i attend to stay away from the more complicated decks like ryder waite. Even though some may not like your choice of decks. You must pick the deck you are drawn to.
I am drawn to alot of decksa but i only use the decks i need. I have just brought a set of angel cards that shall do me for now.
Go with your heart on the decks you pick.
