Upcoming Excitement -- Warning: do NOT read this

Thread originally posted on the Aeclectic Tarot Forum on 04 Mar 2003, and now archived in the Forum Library.

I warned you! But you didn't listen. Now you are doomed to stage five taraholism: wanting decks that aren't published yet:
Tarot Garden's Upcoming Decks page shows several decks from Lo Scarabeo that are new since the last time I checked, (scroll all the way to the bottom) like the Tarot of Teen Witches , the Gothic Tarot of Vampires that Riccardo Minetti was working on, and the Breugel Tarot.

These are the decks that I want NOW!!!!!!!!!!!:

Tarot of Animal Lords
Breugel Tarot
Mermaids Tarot
Vikings Tarot
Tarot of the New Vision

I WARNED YOU HHHAHAAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA })

Maan  04 Mar 2003
Ooo its even worse...i have the catalogue from lo scrabeo 2003 and there are the pictures of all the decks you named and a few more. The very sneaky Riccardo send that to me with the book of the Fey tarot.
very very smart move cause i simply must have alot of these decks!!!

I think lo scarabeo is fast becoming my favo! have i told anyone that on some of the new decks they even use DUTCH subtitles? I have not one deck with dutch titles!!!!!!

firemaiden  04 Mar 2003
Which ones more, which ones, which ones!!! Aaaaaaaaargh. I need to know. Which are the ones that you want the most? You know, I think I like the look of the Tarot of the New Vision quite a lot.

I do have some decks with Dutch on them...or...at least I think it's Dutch.

Maan  04 Mar 2003
Well they have got a whole page devoted to "mignon decks"
The decks are from there already known decks but there just 44 by 88 mm.
I have a pocket rider waite but much rather have a pocket size tarot art nouvea, fairy tarots, egyptian, universal waite, or new vision.

And well write something down...i will see if its dutch :)
I have a lot of German decks BTW ;)

Faerie Lin  04 Mar 2003
I'm freaking! I gotta get these decks too!

Ones that really caught my eye are the

Leonardo da Vinci Tarot

Tarot of the Animal Lords (want this for my son when he gets older)

Gothic Tarot of Vampires

Tarot of Teen Witches (neat gift for the young witch in your life)

I love those preorder prices!

wavebreaker  04 Mar 2003
I definitely want the Tarot of the New Vision, I love that idea!

I haven't looked closely at the other ones, I didn't think that was a very good idea... ;)

Phoenix  04 Mar 2003
I am with Tarotlady! I really want that deck! I also want the Tarot of Teen Witches. It looks rather neat.

Does Jewel know about the Tarot of Mermaids yet? })

ROFLMAO!!

Yes, she already has seen some scans!! :D And of course she's already drooling!! **LOL**

And I've already seen a few of the Animals Lords and know I want that one!!! :D Now I'm off to look at the others. Uh Oh!!

faunabay  04 Mar 2003
Here's a link from tarot passages that shows a few more pictures of some up and coming Lo Scarebeo decks.
It's an old link (from last June - I dug it out of the aeclectic archives!!! :) ) so it's still got the Fey as a non-released deck, but it shows some scans of the Mermaid, Animal Lords, Vampire, and some other decks too!! Check it out!! :D

http://www.tarotpassages.com/LSpreview1.htm

firemaiden  05 Mar 2003
Thanks Faunabay, I had been looking for those scans. I remembered seeing them when that link was first posted. But why is the link no longer findable on Tarot Passages? Or am I just not looking in the right place? Perhaps a copyright problem? Now I want the Tarot of Flowers too!

Actually I have, but no other decks for my wish list... ;) I'm just not a very big Lo Scarabeo fan...

Icestorm  05 Mar 2003
You're right...... I shouldnt have looked...

Now I want to get the Leonardo Da Vinci tarot.... arrrghhh!

jmd  05 Mar 2003
...why is it that people just don't listen any more???...

oceanpoetry  05 Mar 2003
thanks for the link :) I really like "Tarot of the New Vision" and "New Century Tarot" ...I am looking for a better picutre of the New Century Tarot and don't find it on the Tarot Garden site. Anyone know of a link for this deck where I can see images of a few of the cards?

I'll gladly take up the challenge... :D

faunabay  05 Mar 2003
I haven't been a big Lo Scarebeo fan in the past either - mostly because I've found the decks, while very beautiful, kind of cold! As much as I'd try I never found myself able to connect with them as I'd like. And all the different languages printed on the cards distracted me and IMO made the pictures smaller than needed. So they'd end up being traded!!

.....that is until I found the Fey!!!! I absolutely love my Fey deck. It's sooo friendly, warm, and very intuitive for readings.
There is still all the translations on the cards, but I they seems smaller and less distracting - to the point I don't even notice them at all!!

So never give up tarotlady!! *LOL*

I tried and couldn't find it on tarot passages either! So I just went back and looked in our old aeclectic thread to see if I could find a link that way - and I did!!
I wanted to see the bigger scans again as well!! (giggle)

~Giggles~ ohhhh Khat you are like so late *LOL* I pre-ordered that deck from Tarot Garden eons ago *ROFLMAO* ... I assume it will be an art deck, which is fine with me!

I also want the Tarot of the New Vision, probably the one with vampires in it *LOL*. But the Mermaids and the New Vision are the ones I can't resist *LOL*. The Raidiant Raider is another one that I liked. A RWS clone with real colors *LOL*.

Like Faunabay, until the Fey, I found the LS deck beautiful but cold. Not sure this will change with any of these, not really expecting it too so if it does it will be a pleasant surprise. I want the Mermaid tarot simply because it is mermaids not because it is a tarot deck *LOL*.

lunalafey  05 Mar 2003
I have Mermaids on order too...they won't be around until August!...too long of a wait...why don't they just sneak decks into circulation instead of making us go nutty?

Phoenix  05 Mar 2003
Jewel, I wouldn't say that the Radiant Rider Waite is a Waite clone. I think that it is an actual Rider Waite, with different colours. I preordered tfis one from Tarot Garden, and can't wait to get it!

That is what I meant. I call clones those decks are the same drawings with different coloring, the RWS based decks (i.e. Robin Wood) are those based on it but not using Pamela Coleman Smith's drawings. I know a clone is supposed to literally be an identical replica, so technically the usage of the word is incorrect, but I don't know of a better descriptive term since the word "clone" is used a lot here on Aeclectic to mean "like" the RWS. Make sense? But I do agree with you that term is not being used correctly by me.

WolfSpirit  06 Mar 2003
I am not a fan of lo scarabeo, at best they are a collection of pretty pictures to me. But I must say I fell for the mermaid the moment I first saw examples of it, so I will get that one! I think there will also be a book ? (I saw at amazon they have two items coming in august under "mermaid tarot" so I suppose one will be a book - sometimes hard to tell with amazon *lol* but we will find out, eventually, after eehhh...many many days I can't count right now and to be honest don't want to ;)

Demonesse  06 Mar 2003
Gorgeous!!! I love the Mermaids and Vampires too, and am still hankering after the Fey...anyone trading theirs? Hehe. Firemaiden, you just put me in tarot torture...

If it is... you are one cruel maiden, lol :-]

genna  08 Mar 2003
Lovely Mermaid Tarot-got to have it when it comes out-thanks for the link to the pictures!

violinlily  08 Mar 2003
hmmmm.... all of em are nice!! mermaids.... RW *new* (the only reason I didn't buy the other one was cause I didn't like the colors......at all)..... **sigh** then maybe I'll come back more often, and actually be able to add an insightful post to a thread in the Aeclectic Tarot Forum...
can't Waite....
hehe

Trogon  09 Mar 2003
Thanks Firemaiden! My, aren't you the Tarotholic's enabler extraordinaire! :D

There's 2 of these that I'm seriously considering... the Radiant Rider-Waite and the Tarot of the New Vision both seem like one's I'd like to get. The Leonardo da Vinci Tarot is intriguing, but I think I'd want to look at it a little more before I decide. The Tarot of the New Century sounds intriguing as well... hmmpf

Macavity  09 Mar 2003
Aha, Ancient Egypt! - I'd certainly like a closer look at LoS's "Ramses: Tarot of Eternity"? Then there's the "Etteilla one" and... the da Vinci (oops). But with all the work being done on these new decks, one might hope for updates to the LoScarabeo WEBSITE? Hint! ;)

Macavity

anjocoxo  09 Mar 2003
Who the hell had the %&#%$"#$ idea of putting that bloody link here??????

Now that I was finally starting to cure myself of my taroholism, you come and destroy everything... ahhhhhhh :D

Oh, there goes my money again all the way down to lo scarabeo.
I just got to have:

* radiante rider waite (I thought I would never want a rider waite again... )

* angel´s voice (magnificent!!!!!)

* the spirit of flowers (I GOT TO HAVE THIS PRECIOUSSSSSSS.... IT'SSSSS MINEEEEE)

aham.... that's it (have to quit my therapist, anyway, the electrochock therapy is apparently not working :) )

Anjo

firemaiden  09 Mar 2003
Who the "Hell" Anjo? The Firevixen at your service!
I think it would be an excellent idea to cease the therapy, you will need the money for more decks.
MUHAHAHAHAH

aqua9air  09 Mar 2003
Tarot of Mermaids looks so good
and of course the Leonardo da Vinci Tarot

... ... .... :( ... .... ....

I should have listened to the warning!!!

ahhhhh~~~~~~~~

jlbvt  09 Mar 2003
Thanks for the tip about the preorder prices! I must have:

Fradella Adventure
Spirit of Flowers
Vikings Tarot

and for my friends, Angels Voices and Teen Witches (that one is kind of sexy in a youthful sort of way, hmmm)

Diana  09 Mar 2003
I'm still pretty much a tee-totaller.

But as my birthday is on September 1st, you all have plenty of time to organise my birthday present: "The Book of Thoth" would be just fine. Thank you!

I hadn't noticed the thread, before :)
Maybe an update on April. I will have, at least to bring the new catalogue online :)
Pant, pant... what a day :)

Regarding the deck, here are some insider comments:
- Angel Voices: this is not a Tarot deck, but a 80 card Oracle deck. Interesting if You like Angels. There's plenty of them :) With companion book.
- Ramses: the idea was to rpovide an Egyptian deck made in a realistic way. Very immediate.
- Flowers: it's a lot on the cute side, but very beautiful. The authors are Laura Tuan (I think Pollux may say something on her from her Celtic Tarot) and Antonella Castelli (Tarot Art Nouveau).
- Leonardo: it's a very classical art deck. The art is notewhorty.
- Etteilla Thoth: historical esoteric deck: May be interesting for the ones who want to study Etteilla and the French school. It has nothing to do with Crowley, despite the name (Etteilla first called Tarot the Book of Thoth. Crowley followed).
Vikings: if You like themed deck this is very well done. RWS in structure, with a great attention to athmosphere and to the Norse legends. It's a bit strong, but the Vikings were not soft people :)
Animal Lords: the art is very simple and not incredible. But there is a lot of heart inside. A deck I will like... I think. A good boy :)
Mermeids: gourgeous images, incredible theme... and it is a RWS clone. Nothing more, nothing less. [no book with it]
Bruegel: from the same aithor than the Giotto. A very complicated, but charming deck. Or You take it as an art deck or it will require a lot of study to use it. But anyway it has something to say.
Vampires: this is the deck I'm working on, but I cannot say how it will be. Probably an interesting deck, but I doubt more than that. Just don't say beautiful but cold. I promise I will expalin it card by card, because it won't have a companion book.

RiccardoLS  18 Mar 2003
I forgot the "Witchy Tarot". It should be very young and a bit trasgressive. No sex, but it's just on the rebel side.
I was not very fond on the deck from the project, but I admit I had to change my mind. We expect the last images to arrive in LS this Friday :)

I'm sure this is truly appreciated by anyone who has faced (variously) polite or impolite demands on the lines of: "when is the documentation/website/etc. going to be updated" :D Interesting reading indeed.

firemaiden  19 Mar 2003
LOL Riccardo, but at least you know how much we all adore Lo Scarabeo and are frothing at the mouth for more!

RiccardoLS  19 Mar 2003
Just remember that I'm not LoScarabeo. Not always, at least :)
As for the website... I'm just the hand, but not the commanding brain :)

Wel, the candlelight is perfect for reading Tarot. You may have to cook over the candle as well, though... ;)
