I have jsut bought the Thoth Deck (Crowly) and the New Paladinni Tarot. Although the court system in teh thoth deck is a little unusual im even more suprised that he didn't insert a whole new court card (princess, prince, knight, queen, king), it would almost be welcome. It is hard to attune with it right away, but yet it identifies the meanings of the cards with teh subtitles very well.
As for the paladinni tarot, i am equally as impressed with this use of underestimated mediums. While some of the faces are a little jarring to read its actually the environments that the characters are in that attract my attention the most. I like the starry background.
I am planning to get the Robin woods tarot asap and hopefully use it with the rider-waite for an exstensive dual deck reading. but untill then, life takes me where i need to be.

I used the Palladini for a comparison exercise once. It is colored very nicely and seems like fairy tale illustrations. Some of the faces are elongated, like medieval perspectives--but they are interesting illustrations.
Hope you enjoy the Crowley Thoth and Robin Wood as well.

Hey Paradox.. :)
congrats on the new decks..
About the Thoth court cards, they take a little getting used too.. especially if you are used to the RWS system. Here is a link to the thread in the Thoth Study group on the court cards.
See you around :)
Blessings,
Amaya

Congratulations on the new acquisitions Paradoxx. I hadn't really looked at the New Palladini before. After seeing your post, I checked the images here at A.T. and on Tarot Garden and wow!! What a beautiful deck! Great... now I'm going to have to start saving my nickels & dimes again...

Ooh Paradoxx I hope you enjoy your new decks. The Palladini was the deck I learned with. The faces lack expression but as you say the backgrounds and the jewel like colouring are gorgeous. It`s a deck I really like (the Moon and Strength are lovely) but very rarely use these days as I sort of grew out of it. I`ll have to get it out and have a look. What do you think about the King and Queen of Pentacles being sillouettes with starry skies inside their heads?
I`ve just started studying Thoth, I like the meanings better than the RWS and it`s clones.
Enjoy!

I was first exposed to the Tarot through the Tarot Magic Software(This is the electronic age). This is the electronic resource for understanding tarot and its origons (Vinciotti Svorza, Marseilles, Ibis, Tarot of the Stars, Gldn Tarot, Rider Waites (of course), as well as others. While it wasn't until my first purchase of a deck (the egyptain tarot realized en tempera on papyrus style) and the elemental tarot (an illuminiating deck)sparked the actual psychic and spiritual connections.
I was first exposed to teh Palladini tarot at www.facade.com , i was not totally sure what to expect when i pulled the actual cards out but it was worth it. I like the Q and Kng of pentacles, it applies to the nature of the cards very well. The readings have been clear and precise (if something in the riderwaite deck needs clarification i will use this presented style as a second opinion)
I was first exposed to the Crowly Deck in Tarot for Dummies (an excellent purchase like any dummies books, the cartoon inserts are worth it). I am cautious with anything that comes from Crowley just out of habit that i need to put aside but i needed to use this deck as a research tool if nothing else, I am impressed with it and it should provide a different persepctive on the early 20th century as opposed to the rider wiate system.
