This is certainly my favorite Waite-Smith "clone", and I'd probably buy it if it were an actual deck.

I love this deck. It's energy is so soft and flowing. Has anybody heard about it being published? I emailed the owner this morning, so I'll let you know if I hear anything back.
p.s you can transate the website into English or any other language via Google. I did this, but didn't find any info on it being published.

I too would love to have this deck.

And if you can load orphalese software on your system--it's one of the decks you can load in your system free. And if you pay $10.00, you can get more features and play and print readings, etc.

At least we can enjoy it until someone wakes up and prints this gorgeous deck.

Hi,
please excuse my very very delayted reply.
Thank you for your mail. It made me happy very much that the cards please you.
> 1. the cards looked finished correct?
I painted the last one (Four Of Wands) in December, 1999.
> 2. any hope of agm, llewyen, us games, lo scarabo publishing it ?
I' ve tried agm, but it seemed in such a way, that they attach importance
to a certain publishing tradition - my deck didn't fit to that.
I tried another local publisher here in Germany - without any
resonance. Thus I am thinking indeed about a publishing by U.S. Games
or Llewellyn. In the summer I downloaded their puplishing guidelines,
up to now that were all my activities. The reason of my restraint is that I don't
have any time for it because of my commitment to my family
and my job - time really hardly remains.
> 3. are you looking into self publishing it ?
I ordered an offer from Carta Mundi, 2,000 pieces of a simple 4 color print in a
paper case costs about $4,500. That is too expensive for me. And who is to sell all this?
> Forgive my bad english as i am lacking a highschool diploma. I just
Forgive my bad English too because I am usually speaking German day by day.
> i am wondering in closing what area of the tarot you looking at now?,
> applying watercolour to the toth?. Is there a book being written by you on
> the aquatic tarot as to the vibrantancy of the colours ?.
I already thought about that, but I planned no such activities in the near future.
> 1. what inspirited you to apply such vibrant water colours to rider tarot ?
Passion to paint in water colors. I love colors. The great Tarot interpretations
of Pamela Colman Smith, she filled the Tarot with live, like a scenery.
My enthusiasm for the Tarot.
> 2. what is your favourite tarot.
1. Rider-Waite (the best known)
2. Thoth Tarot (great art work, deep symbolism)
3. Osho Zen Tarot (very emotional and great art work)
> 3. the difficulties you have had in painting them in water colour
Water color is an unusual medium for painting. It is very difficult to control it.
The colors on the paper can be mixed and with more waters they can run into one another.
In a water color painting you can see every creation process (and mistake) of the artist,
it is not possible to over-paint one color with another, and there is no white color,
the brightness comes from the translucent paper. When you paint and paint and paint you
get ever an dark grey picture.
> 4. are you now going to make your own tarot ?
No time. Later. I've some ideas, perhaps they would look like color explosions :)
Best regards,
Andreas
should we make a small petition and send it to llewyn , (i think llewlyn would make the risk , then again us game is into repainted smith images isn't it ?)

I'm all for a petition Holmes. I can't imagine anyone not wanting to publish these cards. There's not another deck like it (the watercolors, that is).

I am sure emails from potential buyers might make them look at it. I couldn't hurt to email them with the link to the site and ask when someone is going to be smart enough to publish the deck.

I also think this is a very pretty version of the Rider Waite, and if published I would buy it. Maybe its the kind of deck Lo Scarabeo would be interested in too. Its very different to their other Rider Waite clone decks.

This is definately the nicest recolouring of the Rider Waite Smith deck (In my opinion). the only RWS I own is the pocket version by US Games but I would buy this one if it were published, it's beautiful.
Love and light

Well, I got a responce back from US Games, and apparently they have a copyright and patent on the Rider Waite deck, so only they can reprint versions of this deck. Here is a copy of the email from them.
Thank you for your email. Unfortunately, although your rendition on Rider-Waite is lovely, we cannot market it in our product line. We have just come out with our own "new" version called Radiant Rider and this along with all our other versions of Rider-Waite make it impossible to consider another one at this time.
I'm sure you realize the images are copyrighted and trademarked and, thus, cannot be published by any other company except U.S. Games Systems, Inc. They cannot be self published as well.
Thank you.

There has been some discussion recently in the "Creation Forum" on the copyright of the RWS.
The position is not, in fact, all that clear, but in a way that may make things worse, not better, for a self-publisher, as it's hard to know exactly what the legal situation is in different countries.
Maybe we should have some links to some of the known information on this "pinned" in the Creation Forum? I can't think of anything worse that creating a RWS-clone then being told you can't even self-publish it. So perhaps it would be useful to have the information to hand for people - then they could make an informed decision.
By the way, personally I much prefer the Aquatic to the new US Games Radiant. It's so much softer and more personal-looking. I could imagine using it and finding its "hand-made" feeling really adding to a reading.
I'm not sure I'd say the same about the Radiant - but that's just my twopence worth.

I just heard back from the author of the Aquatic:

Hi,
Thank you for your EMail.
It made me happy very much that the cards please you.
Unfortunately the cards are not yet available.
I am looking up a publishing house. Please have some patience.
Andreas

I sent an email to Llewellyn and all they did was send me back a link to there submission form page.

than the artist has...
But his original paintings could be modified by him electronically in the presentation so it is close, but NOT a direct copy. For the majors and courts, a close up of the figure done with an oval or diamond portrait framing effect...I'd love to see a round format with a scallop edging or printouts done in landscape mode and with an original border so that you don't lose the atmospheric washes.
If you look at the Sharman Caselli Tarot or the Universal Tarot by DeAngelis or the 'clones' on Joan Cole's page, there are close versions that are NOT copies.
I'm afraid though, it sounds as if the artist is very busy.
